So, self explanatory. What are your hobbies? I recently picked up a new hobby, and it's one that I can do when I feel up to it, and can set aside for days, or weeks, if necessary. It causes me to bend my back somewhat, which is good, because if I think about it, I can stretch my back correctly while working on this, and if me back gets too bad, I can just go lie down. What is this new hobby? I bought this massive lot of watches on ebay. There had to have been 100 or so watches in this package. I was stunned, because the thing only cost me roughly $25 plus shipping. Many of the watches that I have gotten to so far just needed batteries, but some needed further repairs. These were mostly womens watches, but there were about 20 or so really nice mens watches as well. (12 or so that I kept for myself) I let my mom look through the watches I got, and she picked out 8 that she liked, so I also bought a bunch of batteries, and went to work on them. It's a good hobby for me, because it's not physically demanding, (except for my eyes, and I use a magnifier to see the small stuff) I can also just wrap up the pieces when my back tells me to, and leave them sit for a few hours, or a few days. It is kind of fun seeing things that didn't work before, sometimes even with a new battery, work because I figured out the problem. I wound up buying something like 1000 watch batteries on ebay. Why 1000? Because I could buy 1000 of different types on ebay for the same price as I could buy about a dozen batteries at Wal-Mart. Kinda scary. I seriously went to Wal-Mart to buy 2 AG7 batteries for a pair of watches, and they were going to cost almost $7. I bought 200 on ebay for $7.99, with free shipping. That's just crazy. Anyway, this has been an enjoyable hobby for me so far. The mens watches I didn't want, and the womens watches that my Mom didn't like are destined for to my church for the youth group rummage sale. I think that's a good use for them. They use the money from the rummage sale to finance their annual mission trip. Last year they built handicap ramps for a few people, and put new roofs on a few other houses. They have gone to areas damaged by storms, and to areas devastated by poverty. I am very proud of the work these kids have done, and many have done these trips for years now, giving up time from their summer vacations to help others. I have to go through my house and find everything i can find to give to their rummage sale. Anyway, that is my new hobby. I am also planning on trying to learn a new language, since there are all kinds of free instruction sites online. That is something I can do even when my back tells me that I have to lie down. So .... what are your hobbies?

Watching Sports, Even other sports like rugby and such. i just love it.
I actually enjoy building computers. I'm not too smart once its up and running (lol), but put me in Microcenter, or Best Buy, or Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com, and I can order all the parts and build a custom computer. 1 shot.
Umm, I make poetry, hip hop and EDM music, producing my own beats. I use Logic Pro X, running on a Macbook Pro i7 quad core. I got 2 screens attached.
and.....I play World of Warcraft. I'm an assistant guild master (Bleeding Hollow PvP represent) I do Rated BG's and Raid hardcore.
Working out. Gym time is swole time. If you don't work, you don't eat, you don't grind, you don't shine.
and being an internet troll. REALLY good at that.

I do similar work with electric guitars. I find old ones or inexpensive good ones and take them apart, sand them, finish them and put in better components.
I've been working on making quality solder connections. I have to use a magnifier also. I also have little clamps to hold the wire because my hands are getting a bit shaky in old age.

Hobbys?
I'm not sure where to draw the line between hobbys and other types of activities. So I'll just free think:
Sudoku (previously mentioned) Writing letters I write a letter/letters (with pen and paper and envelopes and stamps) to friends and family almost every day. Watching Star Trek - the way I watch Star Trek is more like a hobby than simply watching a show. More focused. For instance, always looking for (and finding) bloopers. Walking while listening to my MP3 - just got the Beach Boys Greatest Hits.

Writing letters I write a letter/letters (with pen and paper and envelopes and stamps) to friends and family almost every day. That's pretty cool. My hobbies would be: Being a fan of sports teams.. (Cleveland and Maryland) Playing golf - I used to tinker with my clubs a lot but got away from that. Cooking is a hobby for me - trying new things Working out (not a hobby as much as an activity) Coaching - My daughter has dropped out of soccer, which I coached, but I still coach our church basketball team for middle school and high school age kids Hobbies I wish I had more time or energy or money to get into: Reading for fun - I read so much for work that reading for fun is something I don't do nearly enough Cars - I've never been real savvy with cars but working on them (restoring one) always seemed like something I would enjoy. Scuba diving - I love being around the water and swimming but this is something I've never learned to do but I think I would love it.

I have an interesting (the people I've told it to would say "hilarious") story about scuba diving. However, it's too long to type out - plus, the written word wouldn't do it justice. Suffice it to say it involves a mustache that wouldn't let the mask seal properly. An eel. A Barracuda. Pushing the wrong button for the inflatable life vest, and nearly running out of air. I have no desire to ever again scuba dive.

My kids. I barely have time for anything else.
The Browns. Before my kids, I used to watch football all day. Now I watch the Browns, and I'm lucky to catch other games.
Playing football and basketball. We have a crew here that plays football (two hand touch because we are old) every Saturday morning during football season and basketball every Saturday morning the rest of the year. It usually takes me until Wednesday to be able to walk again in either case. We've been doing this for 5 straight years.
Photography is a hobby I'd like to take up.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

tOSU and Browns football - I rarely miss a game, and now that my son actually likes watching it, it is much easier!
Golf - don't get to play as much as I would like. I'm trying to get my son into it, but thus far he isn't that interested. It is too bad because he is naturally good at it but has no desire to play - hopefully that will change.
Cars - I've got a '65 Cobra FFR (Factory Five Racing) kit car and a '93 Mustang Cobra drag race car. Don't get to work on them much anymore, but am also hoping my son will get into that at some point so we can get the drag race car back together. It is a stupidly expensive hobby and waste of money, but I like it.
Cooking - mostly outdoor on my Big Green Egg, though I have started to get into doing stuff inside as well. I like tinkering with seasonings and sauces the most.
Skiing - don't get to do this often as the resources are limited in Ohio. Usually do 1 trip west every year - this year is Brekenridge in a few weeks.
Software development/technology - this is also my profession, but I am lucky to like it enough that I consider it a hobby as well. I enjoy learning new technologies and have been blessed enough to find people to pay me to learn them.
Music - I don't play any instruments, but I love listening to music. Do it pretty much all day long while working.

J/C ....... I will add that I should include sports as my hobby too, but I thought that was kind of self explanatory. Anyway, add the Browns, Cavaliers, Indians, Buckeyes, and YSU Penguins (football) to the list. I also enjoy reading. I have tried to use Kindle, and have downloaded a number of free books, but I have yet to be able to read a book on my computer. I have a number of (actual, real live books) religious books, from books about the Bible, to Islam, to Atheism, that I have been working through. Reading is an activity I enjoy, and can do more often than most. Sometime I'll play some video games. However,to me, video games are Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and so on.

Love beer...as in the craft and making it...not just drinking it...which I do also love.
I seemingly love to start house projects and then to not finish them for a while.
I also like people. I'd sit down and talk with anyone for a few hours...preferable with a few beers. Love getting to know people. Ultimate extrovert.

I just started a new hobby. I bought a wood lathe and make all kinds of stuff like bowls, jewery boxes, ink pens which the woodcraft store in Toledo sends to the troops. I made my wife a French rolling pin out of a piece of Maple tree I had cut down. I read a lot, and watch a lot of Fox News. You all were probably wondering how I got so intelligent. Yep Fox News.

Girls fastpitch softball, my daughter is 9, and she has been in the travel world going on her 2nd year. Good thing we only have 1 kid, our lives, checkbook, everything revolves around fastpitch softball even in the winter. Some people call us crazy but My daughter, wife, and I all love it. It also helps that she is pretty good at it.
Oh and lots of beer on Friday and Saturday nights.

Besides the obvious, watching football, I've had many hobbies over the years. From 1995-2002 I rock climbed obsessively. When my partners left Ohio I stopped. From 1997-2001 I scuba dove a fair amount. Quarries around Ohio and the Florida Keys. I have my advanced open water card with night diving, wreck diving, and deep water (no deeper than 130') qualifications. I moved to Oregon in 2001 and haven't dived since. I've only climbed a few times in Oregon. My old climbing partners actually live out here but have also put it down for career reasons. I've downhill skiid most of my adult life. The last two winters out here have seen crap for snowfall. So it's been a couple years since I've been out. The one hobby I've carried with me my entire life is fishing. I grew up blocks from the Maumee River. I fished it excessively as a kid. Now my attention in the Pacific NW have turned to Salmon and Steelhead. Throwing spinners and flies all day is one if my favorite pastimes. I fish as frequently as I can, though it's not as much as I'd like. Outside of that I'm an artist. I spend most of my summers building crazy art projects with my friends as production artists for music festivals and Burning Man. I'd walk from my nursing career in a heartbeat if I could keep my lifestyle with my art. But alas. Some say I sold out. I say I bought in.

Responding to questions with one word responses could be a hobby. You honestly have no interests in your life? Do you get home from work and then stare at a wall?

Breck is great but Keystone is fantastic. If you get the Summit Pass takeca day to ski there. The Outback is amazing. You won't regret it. The A Basin is great too but don't bother unless you have skills. It'll break you. It pushes me to, and beyond, my limits. I'm jealous of your trip. Though I leave for Maui in two weeks...

Thanks - I'll mention it to my friends. We usually go to Whistler - got hooked on it about 10 years ago and rarely go anywhere else - but some of the group wanted to try something different this year. I've never been to Breck and it's been 15 or so years since I've been anywhere in Colorado (Vail). Not looking forward to the altitude, as it was rough on me when I was 15 years younger - my son has only been to Whistler, so it will be interesting how he reacts to the elevation (he's 12).

Triathlon & endurance sports - it started as a "hey, I wonder if I could do one" and rapidly progressed to "holy crap, it owns me and my life!!". I train anywhere from 6-17 hours per week in all three sports, plus some weightlifting. 5k's are a gateway Drug.
Computers - everything. Gaming, programming, networking, build, repairing.
Home improvement - I do a LOT of home improvement stuff.
Wood working - my home improvement has led to me improving my tools and I've begun to manufacture my own millwork (baseboards, stair treads, chair rail, etc..). I'm actually picking up a new (to me) band saw off of Craigslist today or tomorrow.
I would love to get into automotives, particularly engine building, down to the level of casting my own blocks.... but, one expensive hobby at a time is all I can handle, hehehe.
Browns is the Browns

I did Snuba diving(cross between scuba and snorkelling) once and was really cool but I don't think I can do the real deal. It's amazing once you learn how to relax. I have few hundred hours of bottom time. It takes tens of hours to really learn to relax and breathe. As weird as that may sound. I miss it for sure but Oregon offers no warm water to dive in and I'm not built for cold water. (Tall and thin). Puegent Sound apperently has amazing diving but without an investment into a custom made dry suit I just can't see doing it. I've also moved away from my dive buddies. Oh well. It's really pretty expensive. My money now goes towards new spin and fly rods. I'll say this about scuba. It's other worldly. I certainly don't regret any of my experiences. Including throwing up 70' underwater and being swarmed by fish enjoying my lunch. Night diving in the open ocean is super freaky. Knowing your flashlight's light might go 20' but predator fish can close that distance in a flick of their tail. Being in a totally 3D environment where you're susceptible to attack from all sides. Hearing the Jaws theme in your head... Pucker factor 10. That said. Do it. You only live once.
