Sure they have on a team where they might not have played, had some injuries, who knows. They are having this for a reason, so apparently someone wants to see them!

Exactly. What can it hurt for these guys to get another look, anyway?

I would check out Marcus Fortson and Byron Jerideau on the DL for sure.

Lestar Jean was considered a future star for the Texans. he could be worth a look.

it was a little jarring seeing former top 10 pick Jamaal Anderson on there.

Some of the names stick out but most were pertty far down the draft board for me to know much about them.

That said, I am sure we will have a few scouts in attendance because some of those names do mean something.

I am glad the NFL does this. Lot's of guys get cut and fall between the cracks, but that doesn't mean they can't play. Some may have actually gotten better. I am sure maybe a dozen or more get another shot at a camp. From there....who knows?

I read somewhere today that Tim Tebow would be there. Yeah, that's right, Tim Tebow. I want to see him in Browns' TC, even though the universe might implode if Tebow and Manziel ever share a sideline.

Everything I have heard and read over the last two years has Tim Tebow completely changing his throwing motion. He was putting in hours upon hours to change it, have to find the articles. And he still can't get a chance.

Still have to be able to throw from the pocket AND read a defense.

I can't believe Tebow won't just change positions. He has a ton of potential as a TE/FB.

Joe Adams and Carlton Mitchell maybe worth looking at.

Anyone remember Mitchell? Kid had good size and good speed, just couldn't put it together mentally while he was with us.

All I know is Tebow won games in the NFL. It's ugly but the man wins. I wish I could see how he performs at this combine. With all the sterling talent we have at QB I'd love to sign him up. We would have a devil and an angel both on our QB roster >)

Here is a brief synopsis of the Veteran Combine that went on earlier today (3/22/2015). (It has a bunch of weird links in it, so I prefer not to copy and past the whole thing.)

From what I've read there were a lot of slow forty times. That makes sense because a lot of these guys aren't training for months for this event like most of the rookies are. Those performance camps cost a ton of money and the rookies agents pay for it. These guys are probably more apt to save their money.

Anyway, Michael Sam was in it and ran a 5.10 forty. Not good. Michael Bush, the old Raiders and Bears running back, ran a 4.91. Felix Jones ran a 4.81.

I wonder what real NFL players would run if they were timed? Something tells me Marshawn Lynch doesn't run much better than a 4.7.

He was decent until he tore his quadriceps tendon. It required several surgeries and he missed a couple seasons because of it. From what I read, he's been working out like a beast.

I'm not sure how he did at the vet combine, but if what I've read is true, and knowing he's only like 30, I'd be open to signing him to a vet min contract for a year.

'Many still chasing the NFL dream at veterans combine'

http://news.yahoo.com/many-still-chasing-nfl-dream-veterans-combine-062546005--spt.html

By BARRY WILNER

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — While Trent Steelman was on active duty in the Army, often his thoughts strayed to getting another shot at the NFL.

While Michael Bush and Felix Jones were at home, wondering why they weren't still in the league, they also focused on one more chance.

On Sunday, all three were chasing the dream again at the first veterans combine.

Which is exactly the idea.

"This group either has outdated or brief or short resumes in the NFL," said Matt Birk, a Super Bowl-winning center who played 15 NFL seasons and now is the league's director of football development. "This is an opportunity to bring a large pool of players together for the clubs to evaluate at once. They are fighting for their football lives and will do whatever they can to get into a camp."

For Steelman, that means changing positions. He was a quarterback at West Point, where they don't throw the ball. So even though he was facing two years in the service, Steelman found time to work on his game — as a receiver.

Although he dropped one pass during the combine, he looked natural on the other end of throws. Considering he hadn't played in anything more competitive than flag football while stationed in Savannah, Georgia, Steelman looked like he belonged on this hot, sunny day.

"I wouldn't trade my time in the Army for anything else," said Steelman, who attended a mini-camp with the Ravens in 2013. "It taught me to interact with teammates, with the different type of cultures and it's that way in sports, with the different cultures and sportsmen. I put that to work when I am with these guys, too."

All the while adjusting to a new position.

"It's like the Julian Edelman path," he said. "He did the same, played quarterback in college and making that transition. There's not much call for a 6-foot, triple-option quarterback in the NFL."

There's plenty of call for a swift running back with receiving and kick return skills. Jones, the Cowboys' first-rounder in 2008 (22nd overall) spent five seasons in Dallas, leading the NFL with a 5.9-yard rushing average in his second season. But he rarely was the team's first consideration as a rusher. After spending 2013 with Pittsburgh, Jones was out of football last year.

The 27-year-old Jones showed some burst at the combine, and hoped it was noticed.

"Every veteran wants another opportunity to showcase what he can do," he said. "I can bring speed, quickness and excitement. I'm a special teams player, I can catch the ball out of the backfield, I can even play in the slot if they want me to do it. Whatever it takes."

Jones was stunned he didn't hook up with anyone in 2014, and he had no intention of getting used to the feeling of idleness.

"It's tough to leave from a game or from anything you want to be a part of," he said. "It's tough watching and knowing you can still play with these guys that are out there."

Bush, a 30-year-old running back and six-year vet who last played in the league with Chicago in 2013, prepped hard for the combine. He said he practiced all kinds of drills, only to find few of them were being used Sunday.

Still, he seemed relieved to learn the three-cone drill and some others were dropped.

But when told he ran a slow 4.91 in the 40, Bush was almost despondent.

"There goes my career," the usually jovial Bush said, a frown rapidly crossing his face. "It hurts."

But, like the other 104 guys on hand, Bush has no intention of giving up the pursuit.

"Put it like this: You sign me, you're going to get an angry, ticked-off football player who wants some respect," he added.

Unlike most of the others, Bush had never been through a combine. He broke his leg coming out of college at Louisville and missed the draft-eligible sessions in Indianapolis.

And while happy for the chance to display his skills before scouts from all 32 clubs, Bush also was a bit irritated it had come to this.

"I'm still shocked I had to come and do this with all the film out there," he said. "But it's part of the process. I gave it my all; if it does not work out, it does not work out.

"Yeah, this shows people I am still around. Put me in pads. I always get the job done."

We need players, no matter whare they come from.

I don't get why people want to turn their noses up at guys who are paying for their shot, and who might be useful. If a guy gets a chance and seizes it, then good for him. Better yet if a guy really shines, and he winds up with the Browns, and has a great career.

Imagine if the Rams had said "We don't need any has beens or never made its" with regard to signing Kurt Warner. The NFL is set up to churn through players at a rapid pace. Sometimes a young player needs to work on one aspect of his game ..... maybe he needs to get a little faster ... so he winds up at home, and works every day to get faster. He goes to this camp, and shows off his improved speed, and gets a shot .... where maybe, otherwise, he wouldn't.

Frankly, I will be thrilled if we find a very useful player for free in this kind of "veteran combine".

Nah... we don't need special talent the likes of players like Doug Flutie, Warren Moon, and Rod Smith to mention just a few.

I have no doubts if Knowshon Marino was picked by the Browns or a few other teams in the draft he'd been declared a bust and long gone by now.

NFL just tweeted this:

WR Nathan Slaughter has agreed to terms with @AZCardinals. He participated in the #NFLVeteranCombine this weekend. (via @Rapsheet)

So, it looks like the Veteran's Combine helped at least one guy. I hope he gets a chance to enjoy success. thumbsup

The one guy that is interesting to me is Tyler Wilson.

I remember him from Arkansas. He was drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round of 2012. He was put on the practice squad then cut.

Later cut by the Bengals and the Titans.

Don't know the story behind this guy. He was a very good college player. He has a good arm.

Must be some issue with him. Maybe he has difficulty learning?

He had a great year as a junior and was projected as a first round talent.

He maybe worth looking at. Still a young guy.

Didn't we have him in for a look last year? Maybe it's someone else I am thinking of, but I thought that we had him in for a look late in the year.
