I thumb my nose at all of you knee jerk nay-sayers that ridiculed the Mckown signing and thought we were done addressing the qb position.

Our new Senior Offensive Consultant was Lewis' offensive coordinator at Duke.

I promise that I am not being snarky, but is that a an answer to a trivia question or does it have some significance?

It's probably one of the reasons we signed him. We have a guy on our coaching staff who was coached Lewis previously. It seems relevant.

Who knows. We are screwed at QB if any of the guys on our roster starts anyway.

It's all coming together now fellas. Time to kick back in the leather recliner, light the cigar, pour a glass of the 15 year old single malt you've been saving and breathe in the smell of victory.
Thaddy Lew has returned!
Yep, now we have 4 good QBs. Just need one more that we can put in on passing downs.

Let him compete with Connor Shaw for that 3rd string spot in camp.
What could it hurt? Starting material. Seriously...when was the last season where our 3rd string QB didn't start at least one game? Its been a long time...our norm is going through 4 different QBs a year...sad and scary

I lose track. Didn't we already have this guy once? Yes, I think so... And "that other guy's" brother. A real merry-go-round of QBs.

Thank goodness we signed Thad, Chad, Brad, whatever, Lewis!!
I was afraid we wouldn't be able to keep 4 back-up QB's on our roster for training camp!!
We just solved that problem!!
Now maybe we can start signing a few more back-ups to the taxi-squad!!

I can understand some not being happy with our lack of marquee FA signings but I see no reason to bad mouth someone when they do sign with us. Thad Lewis is a good back up QB stop all the hating, Please.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

I bet Thad could win more games for us than McCown. I have this bad feeling we are gonna look like the Doug Peterson lead offense with Josh.
Congratulations to our 2016 NBA Champion CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! Greatest comeback in sports history... Hail to the King!

Maybe I have the rose-colored glasses on, but it seems like our FA QBs have one main thing in common. They both have been pressed into starting roles, and have experienced at least some success with those opportunities. McCown had that bunch of games in Chicago, and Lewis had a couple good games filling in for Manuel and/or Orton (I think they picked up Orton after Lewis hit a wall?).
With the talent pool of FA and draftable QBs being what it is right now, this would be a logical approach to filling our biggest need without harming our long-term efforts of finding "the guy".
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

This signing should make it official.
This is the worst quarterback roster in the history of the NFL.
You could find better in the Arena League or Canada.
Not one guy has been a NFL starter.
Last year we went into the season with the same thing.
How can this be considered an improvement?
Now there is speculation that Manziel may not even play at all in 2015. At best his status is unknown. Forget what he has shown when he did play.
So we have Josh McCown recently cut form the Bucs (who won 2 games). After he was brought in to be the starter. And ended with a 1-10 record.
Thad Lewis recently cut by the Texans because he was to far behind Mallet, Hoyer, and Case Keenum.
And here's Johnny.
Of course we have Conner Shaw.
Where are the Steelers and the Ravens? We got em right where we want them.

J/C
I thoroughly look forward to the impending Connor Shaw vs. Thad Lewis QB competition this pre-season. They are, after all, the best 2 QB's currently on our roster.
Woooweee! But hey, those orange helmets will look reeeeeal nice.
I don't think you could put together a team this bad if you were trying to move it to Miami.

cfr..I would say that Pettine is focused on building a coaching staff that is capable of developing our QB talent.
In addition to O'Connell and DeFilippo coming from a QB background, so too does another new hire...as cfr pointed out. The Browns also added a Senior Offensive Assistant Coach, Kurt Roper, who played QB at Rice and went on to coach QBs and serve as the Offensive Coordinator at Mississippi, Kentucky, Duke and last season OC at Florida. While serving as OC/QB coach at Duke 2008-2013. In 2008 and 2009 Roper coached QB Thad Lewis, who broke several Duke passing records. **note...the Browns just signed Thad Lewis last week. Pettine, DFlip, O'Connell and Roper..all have experience playing or coaching the QB position. I would say that Pettine is determined to develop a QB of the future.

I agree Mac. This can't be a bad thing. I have also read where Flips O is much less complicated.
