Would rather have Clay at $20M (or more) guaranteed or James Casey at one year $4 million?

I just read that, based on average annual salary, Clay is the fourth highest paid tight end in the league (behind Gronk, Graham, and Thomas). That is ridiculous and I'm glad we didn't get involved.

Wow, he got a boatload. I am guessing that the Dolphins will not elect to take on that contract. That is a bunch, especially the guaranteed money. 5 years and $38 million in total. That's a lot for a TE, even a pretty good one.
Think about these numbers: 233, 212, 759, and 605. Now consider these: 3, 2, 6, 3.
Those are the yards and TDs that earn a TE a deal of this magnitude. Man ...... that's kinda crazy. They have to be buying on potential as opposed to actual performance thus far.
He is a high quality player, and from what I understand, a high quality person as well. However, he is pretty close to the franchise paycheck with this deal. (on average)
The Bills and Clay appear to have fallen in love from the start, and that is where his heart went. I am also glad that we didn't throw that kind of money at him. (more for the future than for today)

'AP Sources: Tim Tebow works out for Eagles' http://news.yahoo.com/ap-source-tim-tebow-works-eagles-195049357--spt.htmlAssociated Press By ROB MAADDI March 16, 2015 6:33 PM Tebow Time in Philly? Tim Tebow worked out Monday for the Philadelphia Eagles, two people familiar with the session told The Associated Press. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because the workout was not made public. One of the sources said Tebow worked out at quarterback and left the facility without discussing a contract. Considering all the offseason moves made by coach Chip Kelly, taking a look at the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner with the huge following shouldn't be a surprise. Tebow could run zone-read plays better than Philadelphia's four current quarterbacks. Tebow has not been on an NFL team since the 2012 season. He was released by the Jets, then attended training camp in the summer of 2013 with the Patriots, who cut him. One of the most successful college quarterbacks at Florida, Tebow started 14 games for Denver over two years after being selected in the first round of the 2010 draft. He threw for 316 yards in a playoff win with the Broncos, who traded him for fourth-round pick when they signed Peyton Manning. Tebow has been working in television as an analyst for the SEC Network and ESPN. Kelly recently traded starting quarterback Nick Foles to St. Louis for Sam Bradford. His backup is Mark Sanchez, who was the starter for the Jets when Tebow was there. That was a highly uncomfortable situation for Sanchez. Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne are also on the roster. Kelly's remake of the Eagles' roster has included trading star running back LeSean McCoy to Buffalo, then signing Offensive Player of the Year DeMarco Murray to replace him. Clearly, Kelly — who took over personnel duties after last season — is unafraid to look anywhere for possible upgrades. Although Tebow had some success in Denver, his inaccurate passing and lack of pocket presence has plagued him in the NFL. His strength has been running the ball or improvising. There's also been some thought that Tebow might switch to tight end or fullback, although he has balked at such a move in the past. The Eagles have depth at tight end, but no fullbacks on the roster. Kelly likes versatile players, though Tebow tried out at QB. (end) P.S. Never say die. He should try out for a different position.

I would love to have Tebow try here as a TE. I think that he could be a beast at the position. However, it appears that, so far anyway, his pride has kept him from accepting such a position change.

Tebow is not a tight end. He is a quarterback. Not only that, what team would have the patience and PR skills to have take on the Tebow craziness for a backup, developmental tight end? No one. He has been a QB his whole life, switching was never really an option and it has nothing to do with ego.

Thought that was funny. Yeah quarterbacks can stand in the pocket, read a defense, and make accurate throws thus disqualifying Tim Tebow as any kind of NFL QB. It's a shame he isn't willing to play RB, FB or TE because he's an elite athlete and could probably be a productive player at another spot.

I've seen people bringing up James Casey, what about Rob Housler the TE from Arizona? Apparently he's supposed to be one of the fastest TE's in the league and a freak of an athlete, he just isn't a good blocker. To the best of my knowledge he's a FA, I wonder why he isn't on anyone's radar? I mean we have two good blocking TE's now in Dray/Barnidge, we need a pass catcher.

Too bad really, he was entertaining as hell to watch in college.. So if all he will accept is the QB position, he's not going to play in the NFL. I don't know if he is capable of being a good TE.. I mean, he's physical enough for sure. But he'll have to want it. If I were the GM and he contacted me and said he'd play TE, I'd have to take a look.. I'd hate to have him show up on the Ravens or Bengals as a TE and do well.. I'd have to look.

Guys switch position in the NFL all the time, obviously with varying degrees of success.
Tebow is not a QB. His accuracy is abysmal. He could be a great TE, or even a receiving FB. He can run extremely well, and could be used on trick plays. I think that he could become a TE or FB, but we know for sure that he is not a QB. IN a league desperate for QB talent, he can't even get a job as a 3rd string QB. That says it all.
For those who say that it's only because of the media circus around him, Adrian Peterson will play this year. Greg hardy is being sought after. Players with horrible pasts find work. Tebow hasn't been able to. It's not the circus, it's that he is not a QB.

I know he can't play QB, but he has the QB mentality.
I would much rather have someone that has played tight end or fullback since high school, than a guy who has never done it and is learning it for the first time at the NFL level.

I just simply don't want Tebow in any shape, form or fashion. I hate Philly for working him out, it was AWESOME to not have to hear about him much anymore. I don't know how someone who pretty much failed in the NFL, is and has been team less and etc generates so much publicity.

Greg Hardy signs one year deal with Dallas ...
It’s a one-year contract, which carries a salary of $750,000. He can earn up to a total of $13.1 million (which was his base salary as Carolina’s franchise player in 2014) through a series of per-game roster bonuses, incentives, and a large workout bonus.
Specifically, Hardy can earn a workout bonus of $1.3116 million, a whopping $9.25 million in per-game roster bonuses, and $1.8044 million in incentives based on sacks.

Tebow is a popular guy. Get over it. Either you love him or hate him. I choose to love him and hope he gets signed to an NFL team.

Now Dallas has created a veteran minimum contract with over $10 million in not-likely-to-be-earned bonuses. Already killing next year's cap.

I don't usually say much about former players, but, God luck to him. He always busted his ass while he was here, and pretty consistently played better than most around him.

Rubin has never been the guy with the talent but he was always the guy with the desire and hustle. I think all of us loved cheering for the guy. I hate to see him go but I just dotn see it in the guy anymore. I think that is the only reason the team is letting him go.

Well, I kind of knew it was coming but I really wanted to retain the big guy as a rotational person. He's played in it seems all defensive schemes, kept his mouth shut and gave it his all for us. Always so incredibly soft spoken, great locker room guy and the list of positives just continues. From the deepest pits of my heart, best of luck to you Rubin! Extra happy he's going to what I believe to be the best team in the NFL after looking at their roster and etc. Seattle going to bust heads and I'm glad Rubin will get to taste what consistent victory is like.

I am saddened, Rubin, One of my son's favorite players, mine too... not only because of his work ethic on the field but also because we met him here in Texas. he was working out with same trainer my son was so we crossed paths a few times... great guy, plus we got his autograph... Good Luck Rubin... we are still cheering for you.

Only 25 yrs old and might be a nice pick up if we can get him on a 1 yr show me contract ESPN Dallas' Jean-Jacques Taylor sees free agent ILB Rolando McClain as unlikely to return to the Cowboys. Taylor reports there was "a lot of drama swirling" around McClain at Valley Ranch last year. A series of late-season brain injuries are more cause for concern. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in February that McClain is facing a four-game fine for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Even after a renaissance season of sorts, it appears McClain has worn out his welcome in Dallas. Related: Cowboys Source: Jean-Jacques Taylor on Twitter

Read an article today in my local paper about Jabaal Sheard. He was saying how happy it was to now be with a winning organization that has consistency. He was also saying how in the past 3 seasons he's had 3 different head coaches, dc's and schemes. Putting it in a nutshell, he sounds very happy to be out of Cleveland and with New England. I guess you can't blame him.
