jc: One coach to me at NFL Owners meetings...looks like we're getting rid of extra points https://twitter.com/wingoz
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Hmmmmm. Mandatory two-point try.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the NFL was doing everything to make the game safer for players, especially to prevent concussions, right??
So, they're thinking of eliminating the safest play on the field, the extra point, and requiring the teams line up for the most brutal play in the game, a goal-line stand, where they bash into one another with heads down.
Replace 6 - 10 low-contact plays with 6 - 10 smash-mouth plays instead.
How happy will the players be in, say, a 35-3 4th Quarter having to line up for a goal line stand instead of a chip-shot extra point???

As the old saying goes: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Sure the PAT is fairly routine, but it isn't boring, and I don't believe there is much hue and cry to change it...at least from a fan's perspective.

I like the idea of the ability to challenge fouls that result in automatic 1st downs despite the extension to the game it may bring. There were plenty of calls that appeared questionable at the time of calling.
Though you could proabably guarantee removing a couple wins by the Steelers/Cowboys each year by such challenges.
I also like the poster's idea of completely removing ball spotting and keep things simple with yardage penalties.

Didn't the Saints miss the playoffs back in '02 or '03 because of a botched extra point? Also, wasn't it after a crazy play of what seemed like a million or so laterals?

So a player must shotgun a beer before going onto the field of play wasn't proposed?
Well, that's boring. Well with our players we would be the best team in the league!!

I dont understand why every year they have make to changes just to make changes it seems like. How about this??? The product you have creates Billions of dollars. . . Leave it the heck along!
