A random dream where I met Percy Ellsworth (I probably hadn't thought of his name in a decade) had me laughing about how many obscure/odd players we've had on this team since 99.
Let's construct a list. I'll start with perhaps the king of them all:
Ben Gay
You guys' turn
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

First name that comes to my mind - I have no idea why - is Hank Poteat. He was bad, in the literal sense.

I remember reading that Frisman Jackson had this phenomenal throwing arm. He could throw the football 90 yards. IIRC, there were posters here that wanted to convert him to QB.

I remember the late 80's when the Browns traded DB DD Hoggard to Philly for a DT named Chris Pike. Pike was 6-8, 300 lbs - all muscle - and ran something like 4.8 in the forty. Pike was going to be the next Big Deal. He played 2 years for the Browns, 24 games, and had zero tackles along with 1 sack. Played one more year with the Rams and then disappeared.

Chris Pike, didn't he go on to be the first commander of the Star Ship Enterprise, before Jim Kirk?

This thread is so depressing.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

I thought Steve Heiden was pretty good. I also thought Lee Suggs was going to be the answer at RB, but he couldn't stay on the field.

A few not mentioned yet who come to mind: My personal favorite: Orpheus Roye, good player, great name. Chaun Thompson and his glorious potential. Earl "ride em cowboy" Little, the best safety in the league. Anthony Henry, who had a great great rookie season and then faded away. Ralph Brown, who was arguably worse than Ray Mickens and Hank Poteat put together. There were a few favorites on the O-line: Paul Zukauskas - the early OG hope Hank Fraley, who stepped up excellently after Bentley went down and I believe his wife was around on the board for a while Ryan Tucker who was easily our best O-lineman before Thomas came around Heres a link for anyone who wants a run through memory lane: Every roster from the browns chronologically http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/lineups.htm
