I love that picture. One of my favorite parts about it is that it reminds me that the loss to Cleveland in 2003 along with all of our other losses that year gave us good draft position so we could draft Ben Roethlisberger the following April. He went on to lead us to a Super Bowl a year later.
Another thing I love about that picture is that the guy in it (Hines Ward) has more Super Bowl rings, more Super Bowl MVP trophies, and more Pro Bowl appearances than all 57 of the players the Browns have drafted since coming back into the league in 1999.
However, the BEST part about that picture is that it is from October 5, 2003. Yes, I said 2003. That's the last time the Browns beat the Steelers. We have beaten you seven times in a row and 20 out of the last 23. Holy crap, you guys suck! Living in northern Ohio, I get to listen each year to the freaking idiot Browns fans all around me talk trash about how this is going to be the year they beat the Steelers. Wait, that's not exactly correct. They actually claim that this year they are going to SWEEP the Steelers and make up for all of the embarrassment of the past few years. I had some idiot yelling in my ear today about how Brady Quinn is going to tear us up this fall. Really? If Brady Quinn even gets to start at all this year then that means either a) We killed Charlie Frye, b) The Browns season ended early yet again after a horrible start, or c) your coach reveals himself once again to be the bumbling Fat-Albert that he is (Hey hey hey! Let's start this rookie before he's ready and give him PTSD aka "Tim Couch Syndrome").
Year after year, the Browns draft the savior of the team and the future hall-of-famer that is going to turn it all around. 57 draft picks since expansion resulting in 0 (ZERO) Pro-Bowl appearances. Your scouting department is top-notch! The Steelers scouting department not only turns up great first-day draft picks (Hampton, Miller, Polamalu, Faneca, Roethlisberger, etc), but they also find guys no one else wants (undrafted Willie Parker) and turn them into Pro-Bowlers. Sorry to break it to you, but our organization and our team is simply better top-to-bottom than yours is.
One day, the law of averages says that the Browns will eventually win a game against the Steelers. It has to happen sometime since this is the NFL. Hell, you guys almost beat us once last year before Mr. Polamalu made three consecutive plays to get us the ball back at the end of the game. On the fateful day that the Browns beat the Steelers, you guys will lose your minds and celebrate like Irish soccer fans. The rest of the country will scratch their heads and wonder, "Why are the Browns fans acting like they just won the Super Bowl? All they did was win one game in yet another abyssmal season." But you guys will know how those soccer fans feel. After waiting year after year after year for something to happen, your pent-up frustration will burst forth and you will from that day forward be referred to as the Cleveland Hooligans.
Prediction: Cleveland once again sucks and goes 0-6 in the division. Pittsburgh leads the league in rushing and run defense and walks away with ring #6.

Ah, my geographically-challenged friend...in case you didn't get the memo northern Ohio is not a town. The town I live in has a high school football team that I support because I went to that high school (Go Blue Streaks!). Unfortunately, the NFL has not yet granted my hometown an NFL franchise, so I have no hometown NFL team to root for. I have never lived in Cleveland and have only visited Cleveland two times in my life other than to go to Steelers games there. I have lived in Pittsburgh off and on and visit there quite often. Could you please explain your new-aged definition of "hometown" and how it could possibly apply to me and the Browns? Do you believe that people should all root for whichever NFL team is closest to them? In that case, should the residents of Toledo, Ohio root for the Detroit Lions? Are you extending the definition of hometown to mean the entire state? If so then I hope you like the Bungles and Browns equally.
In reality, your personal attacks on me are simply a distraction to avoid focusing on how bad your team is. I posted lots of facts about the recent history of the Steelers/Browns series, and you had no response other than to try to lable me as a bandwagoner and as being disloyal to my hometown. My continued posting and support for my Steelers during a 2-6 start last year should have quelled any of this bandwagon nonsense along with the fact that I am not now claiming to be a Colts fan. However, if it makes you feel better to dodge all of my smack about your pathetic team and try to redirect it to me then knock yourself out. At the end of the day, my Steelers are still a better team top-to-bottom than your Browns.
