just wondering if we should kick the tires on this guy. Hearing he could be available for a low draft pick and that he possibly would restructure his contract.

No thanks, we could use some young blood at tight end. Someone to grow with our young QB. If the rest of the pieces were in place, maybe if the price were right. I'm guessing he wouldn't restructure his contract to come to Cleveland. A contender, perhaps.

Good point. I also would prefer one of the TE's in the draft.

Me too, but, if he's willing to for sure renegotiate his contract, I'd least hope we check in on the details. If not, no biggie to move on.

I'm to the point that I'm ok with Maxx Williams at 19.

But if they want to wait and try to land him at 43, I'm ok with that..

And if they miss out on him, and the TE from Miami, and don't like anyone else..

Why not offer a 6th or 7th for Lewis during the draft?

I would trade #19 for RB hungry Dallas's #27 for a 3rd this year and their #1 next year and pick Williams @ #27

If we could get him for one of our 6th round draft picks, sure, why not? If anything else he would make a good red-zone target. I'm not willing to trade anything more for him though at his age.

Who would they be willing to trade all of that to get?

How does a league celebrating its 100th season only recognize the 53 most recent championships?

I would make that trade in a heart beat, but would moving up 8 spots be worth a 3rd round pick AND a 1st round pick next year? I'm not sure I think that trade is realistic.

Now moving from #27 up to #12 and maybe Dallas makes that trade, but the only RB worth taking at #12 would be Melvin Gordon. Coming off an ACL injury there is a solid chance Gurley is still on the board at #27 I would think.

I keep seeing Gurley going before Gordon.

Usually to Houston.

19 seems like a good spot for someone to move up if no RBs have been taken yet.

If we could move back into the mid twenties, Picking up a 3rd in the process? I'd be super happy.. And even happier if we took Williams..

He's making $6.65 million and he's a free agent next year.

No.

With Mercedez Lewis...He hasn't been good in years...He has iffy hands, is slow, and always banged up...Big cap number which I know Jacksonville is willing to split, however I'd still prefer Gresham with his back injury over Lewis...I'm sure Lewis will be cut if there isn't any takers, and I don't see him going for more than a 7th round pick

But...But...Leasing/Renting a Mercedes... think of the joke people. Totally worth it.

Unless a guy is outstanding like Winslow I don't really care about the TE position. It seems like guys like Heiden and Dray are usually pretty available and do enough receiving to be worthwhile. Lewis' stats aren't exactly impressive, from what I understand he's more of a blocker. Those are pretty easy to find IMO.

A marginal overpaid NFL Player, that will soon be cut with the signing of Julius Thomas.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

I really thought that Mercedes Lewis was going to be a very, very good TE in this league. He has a ton of talent. I loved him coming out of college. I sure whiffed on that one.

I do have to add that his physical talent still intrigues me.

Same here Vers. I thought he would stud out and at first, there was some indications that he might. He's one player who has befuddled me.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If it comes between signing a guy like Rob Housler, or trading a 7th for Lewis?

Hell.. Do both..

And then draft Maxx Williams and cut a couple people..

I've been on a small school/sleeper kick this draft for some reason. I'd rather try signing a guy like Brian Parker of UAlbany as a UFA after the draft than a re-tread like Mercedes Lewis.

Like some of you were saying, I thought Mercedes was gonna be a stud. I think the surrounding pieces in Jax may have had some part in his not panning out, per se. He'll probably want to play with an established QB for once in his career.
