I'm still drunk and am really excited so please excuse some caps.
WHO IS READY FOR THE NEW SEASON OF GOT?!?!?!?!
Vers, do you still watch? Does anyone else watch? I feel like Arch watches.
What is the plan to try to juggle Madmen and Game of Thrones?

I watch. Though I'll have to re up my subscription to HBO tomorrow. So I'll be an episode behind after tonight. As for MadMen v GOT... That's what DVRs are for. I almost never watch my favorite shows live. I hate commercials. Though GOT is commercial free I still fast forward through the insufferably long intro.

Truthfully, I've never even heard of Got. And, while I've heard of Game of Thrones, I figured it was a video game. I guess your feeling is wrong.

Yeah, I am very excited to watch it tonight. In fact, it's the only show that I watch on television. Seriously...the only one.
I loved the books and I am hoping a new one will come out this year. In 2013, they said the next book in the series wouldn't come out until 2015. Well, it's 2015 and I am hoping for the next book.
With that said, I think that whomever makes that TV Show for HBO is doing a fantastic job. Of course, they have to leave a lot of things out, but they have created some of the most dramatic scenes that have ever been created on screen.
Have you been watching any of the re-runs that have been on HBO recently? There's always something new that I missed the first time.

I've only watched season 1 and two. I need to catch up on the other seasons first.

It is the only series on TV that I watch.
We (my wife and I) binged watched last year to get caught up and we are looking forward to this season.
There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

It's the only reason I keep HBO, seems a little expensive versus buying the DVDs when the seasons over, but who can wait?

HBO unlocks their program for the first episodes of major series for that day of airing. Sort of a teaser I guess.

Saw the first four episodes already thanks to a website I found. Things are really deviating from the books.

Sad to hear they dare deviating from the books - the books are awesome.... I watched last night and thought it was pretty good.... Martin needs to finish the next two books! I read an article saying that he has some interesting ideas a for his books but not sur ehow fans will react because it's differenit from what the TV series is doing...

Yeah, at some point most series will begin to separate from the original source. It's the easiest way to maintain a following, by maintaining the drama that people have become accustomed to, and finding new ways for characters to interact. Personally, I wish they didn't have to kill off Ned Stark when they did, I liked his character, he seemed to be one of the few "grounded" characters. Do they even know what they are doing with Aria's character? Sansa, I almost wish they would kill her off, she's annoying. And I am growing tired of Daenerys Targaryen holier than thou attitude. It appears the power of Queen is going to her head.

When I first start reading the books, I thought Ned Stark was the hero of the story. I was shocked when he was killed.
Aria probably has a significant role. She's tough. I read the books, so I know more and won't give it away.
Sansa? I think she was made to be annoying, but she is probably important because of her ties to the Imp and that weird dude who murdered her aunt, not to mention her blood lines.
The Queen of the Dragons is annoying me of late, too.........especially if you have read all 5 books. Dumb decisions. However, she is the Chosen One and will probably be the heroine in the end.
With that said..........I would have never imagined that so many of the characters would have been killed off thus far. I won't mention their names in case other people haven't read/watched it, but man, it's amazing!

Yeah martin has said thwt there are characters that die in the TV show that don't in the books... Which is saying something since he's killed off a ton in the books.
I was with you when I first started reading... Stark was one of the biggest shocks for me in the book... Thwt and the red wedding... After the red wedding I dont think anything else in the books has really surprised me like thwt....

jay.............I read that Red Wedding part and I kept saying.............Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God.....over and over again. I had to put down the book. That was so shocking.
A ton of shocking scenes in this series.

Yes, the Red Wedding was a HUGE shocker. Didn't see that one coming in the slightest bit.

Spoiler....
Thought it sucked that they did a flashback. I really liked the fact they never did any flashbacks.
Also, if you are going do a flashback, why do it for that silly scene, why not have a flashback of a Targaryen riding a dragon being a complete BaddA$$ just demolishing cities.

It's on apple tv as well. I don't know the rules. You can also add HBO for Sling TV for your xbox one. (I read this I have not verified this yet) Same price is HBO now $15.

HBO is starting an HBONow online subscription, that does not require a cable/satellite subscription. Limited availability right now, it's still in it's test stage. https://order.hbonow.com/

A lot of changes from the book thus far. I'm wondering if the Citadel at Old Town is going to be left off the TV show. The change in Jaqen H'ghar character leads me to believe this.
Most of the other changes are minor and I understand for the show.
I'm also thinking Stoneheart is being left out of the show unless they are saving her for next season.

Yeah, I've seen the first 4 episodes (thanks internet!) and I'm still trying to remember what's going on in the 548 different story lines from season 4. 4 episodes in and they haven't even touched on the youngest Stark boy with the vision gift and Hodor (Hodor Hodor Hodor!) who escaped the zombies in the last episode of last season. No mention of white walkers either.
So far, this season has been SUPER slow...But I guess that's been the norm up until the last few episodes of any of the GoT seasons.
Here's a not-to-surprising summary:
Sansa is complaining and letting everyone run her life Arya is surviving Rob Snow is being a leader Cersei Lannister is being a manipulative b!tch Tyrion Lannister is drunk in a brothel Jaime Lannister is somehow tolerable The new king is a wuss Various people are always vying for that miserable piece of land called "The North" And last but not least: Danereas Tygarean is smokin hot and can't control her dragons anymore
There it is...Pretty much every episode.

It's also the slowest plot line in the book as well. It's a shame that the only two people that are worth reading about, Arya and Brann, are never in the books.

I read an article somewhere where she is the only character he won't kill off, only because his wife likes her so much and made him promise. Everyone else is fair game. My theory as to how it ALL ends: I don't think Daenarys ever gets to Westeros, and the Cold Ones lay waste to everything... I wouldn't put it past Martin to kill EVERYONE. BTW, I was so upset over the Red Wedding, I put the book down for over a week before I picked it up again.

MAN. What do you think, readers of the books? I knew they'd deviate this season but I didn't know they'd do so as soon as they did w/ the last episode.
I am VERY anti-spoiler, so I won't reveal what I'm talking about and don't expect anyone else to. Just shoot me p.m.

Not to be a hater but I found GOT to be repetitive and oddly formulaic. Silicon Valley is firing on all cylinders though

I don't even watch the previews for next weeks episode.
I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't read the books so I'm avoiding spoilers as well. I hope Ayra Stark becomes one of the faceless and ends up killing some fools at the end of the show. That would be awesome.

In regards to the Red Wedding, people who haven't read the books simply can't have a true appreciation as to how far Arya had to travel, which when you see just how close she came, literally within mere moments of being reunited.. man, I still get upset lol

I'm so sad... Apparently the hbogo account I was using no longer subscribes to HBO Dang that sucks! I went to Roku last year and I don't know anyone who'll let me piggy back their account. Speaking of which, I think its pretty cool that HBO stated they didn't care if their paying customers shared their accounts like that. I'm curios to know how well financially that it has worked out for them. It's an interesting business practice I've only seen one other place and that's with Amazon Prime.

So after watching last nights show it's time Danereas Tygarean somehow get the dragons under control and let them off the leash. Nothing like a little dragon fire to put the fear into those golden mask thugs.

A lot of the book readers are upset at the differences, but I'm not bothered by them. I understand that the HBO show is going to end after 7 or 8 seasons. The 6th Book in tSoIaF has yet to be released. There is still a 7th book (if not more) to be released after than and Martin takes 8 years to write a book. The show can't wait till the books end to finish the show and the show can't reveal the real ending of the books before the books are out. They are slowly changing the story so they can end the show. There may be a few things that are the same here and there but the GoT show IS going to end differently than in the books (pure speculation on my part).
But I do think R+L=J is going to be the same in both stories. Sansa's mentioning that R raped J (whether it really was rape or consensual remains to be seen) set that story line in motion in my opinion.
Sansa is going to show the north why House Stark's sigil is a Dire Wolf. Her claws are going to come out.

Now that I've been caught up, I think it's fair to say that the book was just way too complicated for the show. I think they'll be cutting Young Griff's story line from the show. I hope that doesn't mean that the Young Griff story line is unimportant in the books, but rather the show being it's own version of the books, not a lite version of the books.
