The Spurs attempted 21 threes per game in the playoffs last year. The Heat attempted 23.
The Cavs are currently shooting 27 threes per game. That number will go down a little in the playoffs.
Shooting tons of threes is the new reality. That's how the game is played nowadays. Drive and get to the rim (or the foul line)... drive and kick out for the 3... almost every team has those two options as the result of their offense. Occasionally teams will try to score from the low post just to keep the other team honest... that's it. That's what makes some teams like Orlando such interesting train wrecks to watch. Having two guards who can't shoot 3's and look to drive and sitting your best 3 point shooter (Channing Frye) makes for a very interesting look. Also, there's still a chance Oladipo turns into a respectable 3 point shooter, but now it's just not there.

Two monster dunks so far from The King!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's old and has mileage, but I laugh when I hear his athleticism has declined. It's not what it used to be 5 years ago, but he's still an elite athlete by NBA standards even with the wear and tear on his body.

The Cavs have attempted more threse than any team besides the Rockets (who are in another galaxy when it comes to threes). They just broke the record tonight for most 3pt attempts with 892... in a loss to the Spurs

Looks like we might be the new Lob City, in no short part to Mozgov (Lobzgov?): Damn! I know we see alot of them each game, and most of the time the opponents have zero by end game. Mozgov has the number, but Shumpert to JR for that 180 oop was the most stylish! Freaking LOVING this Cavalier team of ours here guys. We have a team that you can be proud about, extremely fun to watch and, IMO, has everything in place to bring a championship to Cleveland!

Hopefully we get Toronto and Boston as our first 2 opponents in the playoffs. Cavs would cruise over both of them before they play on the big boy stages of the ECF and the Finals.

It's stupid that Lebron is playing tonight. When we get to the playoffs we're riding him, Kyrie and Love to the finish line.

This last week will be "don't get anyone important hurt" time.
Yeah, some of the games will be painful.

I really thought when we had first tied the game, that we had that momentum. Nope.
James Jones was taking way too many quick shots, and shots in general as it just wasn't his night. Nice to see Miller knock down some though, he kept us in the game there back the three back-to-back three balls. Not much offense.
The play that sticks out the most for whatever reason in my head still though is when LeBron slashed and went to one-hand tomahawk it and wiffed lol. That ball was thrown down with such force, it almost landed at the half court mark lol! He was extra pissed too, not giving anyone highfives or anything. Just went to the bench and sat down.

I would not be surprised to see my Celtics beat Atlanta in the 1st rd. ... JMHO I'd take some of that...no way that happens..I think boston doesn't win a game against the hawks...boston matches up better against us then they do the hawks I hate this rest starters for games...dumb coaching imo. reduce their minutes yes, but to take games of with the worst bench in the nba and back into the playoffs losing games...that is not good imo. I'd play starters for 18-20 minutes just so they keep sharp...maybe work on some of the sets/rotations you'll have going into the playoffs. But you can't take complete games off. Especially with the junk we have on the bench..the winning attitude just isn't there. We'll see how it goes. If we get a team like boston or Indy in the first...they could give us alot of trouble especially if they come in on a streak like both are and we are coming in resting guys. Rest when you retire.

Regular season I'm talking playoffs, besides I'm not saying the Celts are better than Atlanta right now, just a gut feeling, young players getting excited, leads to upsets in the playoffs ...

What playoffs are you talking about? Bird versus Dominique? "Young players getting excited" almost never leads to upsets in the NBA, especially in the first round. I can only think of one instance of that happening (Mavs/Dubs).

the winning attitude just isn't there.

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Had to click off the game early today. It was clear the people on the court had no chemistry. Winning doesn't really matter so the reps to people like Miller, Jones, Perkins and etc is a positive.

Rest when you retire. Greg Popovich, the best coach in the NBA, disagrees with your entire post. Also, the Clippers are insulted by you saying the Cavs have the worst bench in the league. That claim goes to them.

I think there was a bit of incentive to "letting" the Celtics win the last two. No disrespect to the Celts, but I the Cavs would much rather see them than Indiana or Miami in the first round. Giving them a few games helps keep them a few games up on both of those teams.

Let's see... tonight is a team eliminated from the playoffs vs a team that has completely clinched everything they can.
Who will mail it in more??
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

That claim goes to them. actually, while trying to be cute, you are wrong...on both accounts and its apples to oranges. Popp hasn't rested his players for full games...in fact, against the suns he didn't and that was yesterday against a potential playoff matchup..so they are going into the playoffs with an 11 game winning streak also while having the best bench in the nba that is scoring 41 points a game meanwhile our bench is at a whopping 14 points a game...so if Popp rests his starters it doesnt mess with chemistry quite as much. And the worst bench is actually orlando, we are 3rd worst..my bad...thats a HUGE difference.

I think I want Toronto in the 2nd round more than I want Boston in the 1st round. They haven't found a way to slow down Lebron or our offense all season. So I'm rooting for Toronto tonight.

i dunno why some thing The celtics have to no shot at being atlanta.
it's the playoffs. anything can happen.
i remember that 2007 or whatever that year was when we played Detroit in the ECF, everybody had us getting destroyed, and we ended up beating them in 6
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

I wouldn't say the Celtics have no shot but it's close enough. The Celtics are 4 games under .500 and the Hawks are 40 games above .500. Upsets like that just don't happen (barring injury to a key player of course.)
An 8 beating a 1 is more likely to happen in the West where it seems like there are at least 8 good teams every year, but even then it doesn't happen that often.

So you're ignoring last year? And the year before that? And the year before that? Here is a Google search for "Gregg Popovich rest," I wonder what comes up. . . https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=ch...popovich%20rest

Popp hasn't rested his players for full games... Are you talking about just this year specifically or in totality? Yeah, because his resting guys became so obvious that David Stern was trying to find a way to punish Pop. I remember the tipping point for the whole thing was 2 years ago when Pop rested his guys against the Heat during a nationally televised game on TNT. I'm sure Stern heard it from the network.

LOL. Classic.
Fans were calling for Pop's head his first year. They stuck with him and have been rewarded.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
