I really didn't want to start a new thread on this topic, but didn't want to hi-jack an existing draft thread either. Neither did I want to post it in the Tailgate because all the Draft geeks are in this thread today.
Refs, if this doesn't belong here feel free to delete it. No hard feelings. I realize you're all a gang of Nazi Refs and it's what you do lol
So, I have always watched the Draft on ESPN. But now I have the NFL Network. I've never seen the NFL's coverage of the Draft. At the same time I've usually been bored by the ESPN talking heads.
For those of you who have seen them both on Draft Day: Which do you prefer?

I usually jump back and forth but ESPN gets the majority of my attention because of Mel and McShay ...

When I had NFLN, I'd keep switching back and forth. Neither was a favorite and both have (had) annoying talking heads.

Eisen and the rest of the NFL Network cast is much better than ESPN.
The only reason to watch ESPN would be to hear Gruden and watch Mel's Hair as he has his usual draft meltdown over a player dropping that he was paid millions to pump up.
you had a good run Hank.

I'm one of those that has it playing in the background while I'm doing something else. I mostly just want to hear which team picked which player and that's all I really want. The rest is just guys talking and for me, it just doesn't matter.

I got the NFL Network playing in the background.
They said the last time the Draft took place in Chicago was in 1964.
That year ring any bells?
Coincidence? Prophecy?

I'll probably DVR NFL Network and then jump back n forth from things I'm watching to ESPN and NFL Network.
Bucks Bulls I'm going to DVR that try not to look at the bottom tape if they show scores.
Elementary - DVR and some other shows.

NFL Network solely because they have the best... Rich Eisen! His 40 during the combine is PRICELESS!

I like ESPN better because of Mel and Todd ... but love Mayock as well.
But I'll mostly watch ESPN because I "always have" if that makes sense
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I just wish ESPN would remove Berman. He adds nothing other than to enjoy hearing himself talk. His time has passed. If I could selectively mute him that would be great.
After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

It's a toss up of sorts ddub.
I got so sick of Kyper that I find the NFLN much better. I'm not saying they really are so much better, but a different set of talking heads is somewhat of a different change of pace.
Personally I would suggest you try the NFLN and decide for yourself since you've seen the ESPN coverage for so long.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

At this point, both are bad.
NFL Network has too many voices, which takes from the people you actually want to hear from (Mayock, Davis, Jeremiah, etc.).
ESPN has Chris Berman and to me that is a non-starter. If Wingo was doing the first day along with only Gruden, Kiper, and Schefter that would be the best option. Berman is just that bad though.

I'll probably switch back and forth between the two, but I'll have it on mute. (1) my kids will be sleeping and I'll be watching it in the living room, so I don't want them to wake up; and (2) I can't stand to listen to the talking heads fill the air with blather.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I turn it on, do other stuff, listen for the chime that signals a pick is in, go pay attention to see if there was a trade or who got selected, then go back to doing other stuff.. then when the Browns are on the clock, I watch before and the analysis after to see how badly they think we screwed up. It's not something I want to sit and watch for 3 hours.

I'm going to hang out with a few friends down at BDubs, so I guess I'll watch whichever one is closer to my beer. And.... Believe it or not, I have friends.

Usually watch ESPN (all I had for years) and they usually disappoint me. Too full of listening to themselves, Kipester melts down and carries on way too often and long, and more than once or twice, I miss our pick and footage while they overkill somebody else's pick. Watch them when the clock is up; I prefer NFL, especially Molly (?), and they do better once they get rolling IMO, as opposed to ESPN which seems to get worse the longer the talking heads grind on. The talking heads seem to feel I tuned in for their pizzazz and that they are the destination. Gimme the pick, some highlights, shut up yourselves. Think the ESPN group needs to be put on the clock (20 seconds is all you get). Hope we don't get stoopid.

Being at BDubs or having friends? I would actually like to have stayed home and watch it with my wife. I really don't want to break down in tears of desperation out in public.

Thanks for all the replies to my dilemma. Or diarrhea.
I got to leave the house now but will be back in time for the Draft. I'm going to do what someone suggested: Since I've already seen ESPN multiple times this time I'll watch the NFL Network in it's entirety. That way I'll have experienced them both.
Now, hopefully, we'll all be able to experience a Draft to be happy about...

NFLN is far superior in their coverage. the guys on espn make it more about themselves than the prospects.

To me it doesn't matter, as late as it starts and seeing we will pick about 2 hours in, I'll be in my chair asleep by 9....when wake up at 2:30 a.m. and scramble around on the TV and net to find out who we drafted.
