18.5 sacks in 2014. Is that a lot? I've seen him compared to Ryan Kerrigan and Trent Cole. The NFLN guys loved the pick.

I know the fanboys wanted a receiver, but receivers don't win many games.

Good pick

Dont know much about him.... the highlights made it look like he uses several moves. Not a 1 trick pony like shane ray. Or Mingo.

Now give me my TE.

How can you hate a guy that had 18 1/2 sacks last year including 2 1/2 against 1st rd OT Andrus Peat ???

We needed an edge rusher and we got a pretty good one ...

18.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and 84 total tackles in 2014.

He's a football player through and through from everything I can find about him.

I like 2 of our 3 picks.

I hate the Erving pick enough to still make me question the entire draft though.

I also really like 2 of our top 3 picks.

I also dislike the Erving pick. Oh well, maybe he'll prove me wrong. Let's hope so.

He doesn't have to. All three OLBs will play a ton. Just like last year.

I don't see it that way fanboy. I think the guy becomes a solid player.

We have decent receivers. The thing we lack is a guy who can start on the outside, who is a threat to flip the field on any given play. The closest we have is Gabriel, and it seems as though he is going to be a situational guy.

I'd agree with this, but I probably like Erving a bit more than you. If the worst pick the Browns make is a good-to-very good versatile O-linemen, it's something I can live with.

The more I'm readying about Orchard, the more I'm liking it.

Not sure how people can't like Erving....I love the pick

In terms of Orchard, we needed an OLB .... curious the discussions of him vs Eli Harold or (gulp) Randy Gregory

I hate to be this negative, but this guy doesn't play the run well and is incredibly unathletic. I see RBs running away from him like he's Rich Eisen. He ran a 4.8 and had a very high 20 SS too, thats not a good sign. What's the plan with this guy? He's too soft to play SOLB and to slow to play WOLB. Worst of both worlds. At least someone like Mauldin is a killer SOLB. Some scouts say he's a pure DE and not a good fit as conversion OLB because of that.

Saw the game vs Stanford. He had a forced fumble on a late rip move and got pushed into a sack, lol. No moves, little athleticism. Watch for yourselves:

Have you watched him? Do you see him covering TE's like Max Williams? Not with his speed.

It doesn't matter how you see it, it doesn't change the facts that he's slow.

Man I really wanted maxwell. The ravens keep taking the players i wanted after we let them slip through our fingers. They have definitely boosted their receiving corps in this year's draft that is for sure.

I liked your comment because you are a buddy from maybe 15 years ago.....I just don't value receivers the same as some. It seems our GM comes from the same school.

I have watched some video on this kid, and he knows how to get through the line to make plays, and can do so inside or out.

Anyway:

When you have no one to throw the ball, I'm not sure picking WR's really matter so might as well pick BPA

They just don't have anyone who's a threat to get 100 catches or a threat to get 10+ touchdowns in a season.
They might be wise to get playmakers to put around any young or new quarterback that they have faith in.
It takes multiple, dominant threats, to win.

If we all had like minds.

if they assume one of their picks would still be available and they could get a couple extra picks, which they might be able to parlay back into the 3rd...( with their other 4ths)... then why not?

I don't see them drafting 11 players

I don't know anything about the kid other than what has been posted in this thread, but those stats are kinda eye-popping.

If he studs-out, this is the sort of guy where he and the Danny Shelton pick can make each other look GREAT.

I mentioned in that thread that what we needed to go with Shelton is a couple of OLB's that can play the flats and make plays up near the LOS, because if an offense can't go up the middle on us, they're going to test the outside. If they run into a playmaker there, then we are completely in the driver's seat!!

This defense potentially just became a whole lotta fun to watch!

Maybe it was houstons idea.
minus 43 and 229
plus 51, 115 and 195. Just makes me think that the end of the conversation went like
Houston: 51 and 115 for 43, and then CLE: no we want 195 too.
and then Houston, 195?, then give us 229 too.

That 195-229 thing just makes me think it was houstons idea.
Just a guess.

Has the production, high effort, fits the culture we're trying to build. Might not start, but should see plenty of playing time. Might be somewhat reactive to what went down with Manziel and Gilbert, but not a bad pick.

Welcome to the 'land, Nate Orchard.
