Hats off to Farmer, even if E-O only has a 2% chance of returning to the player he was, a late 7th is always worth it.

This guy would have been a 1st or 2nd rounder in a strong 2014 draft if he would have left as a JR. The medical report must be really bad that nobody took him earlier, but again, great pick regardless. You never know how the rehab goes, how the knee reponds etc

Probably because EO was destined to be a 1st or 2nd round pick but slid to us in the 7th due to a knee injury from which he expects to be playing on by September.

So he might not be available until late in the season due to being behind but by next off-season he should be good to go.

A 1st/2nd CB for a 7th round pick. It's a miracle!

That's why he has his own thread. lol

Don't like the pick, at all... even being a 7th round gamble ordeal, the odds of him recovering from that serious knee injury seems slim which is exactly what all the other GM's and teams said.

Yes but sometimes miracles do happen. If they do then we got an outstanding player if not we lost a 7th rnd draft pick who probably wouldn't have made the team anyways.

We can IR him this season if we want to give him more time to recover. Our strength is our secondary and we got a top 10 talent with a knee recovering from a very serious knee injury. There is no risk for us at all. He would have been a top 15 pick last year in one of the most talented classes I have ever seen. Take the year get healthy and see u in 2017.

We had 12 picks. 5 more than usual. I don't see any one else we could have picked there making the team. 7th rounders get cut all the time. If he makes it back next year, our secondary is stacked.

This is what I was referring to pre-draft. There is a point where the risk meets the reward. While it is a huge risk, the possible reward is well worth the investment which was very small.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Look at it this way. The odds of him recovering are probably about the same as any 7th rounder contributing....but he's a former top 5 prospect.

It was a solid decision.

With 12 players drafted, you can afford to put him on IR for the year to see if he can recover.

It's a perfect pick for us - we aren't going to carry all 12 guys we drafted onto the 53 man roster anyway (plus one or two UDFA who will make it) -- so this is a guy you can IR this year, and will be ready to compete in camp as a rookie next year.

Otherwise, we were just going to draft somebody with that pick that we were going to cut anyway.

I don't think any UFAs stick this year, unless we somehow pick up La'el Collins.

with Farmer saying that we declined a trade offer from a team who wanted to draft him (the trade was for a 6th round pick next year) clearly we think there's at least a CHANCE that he'll return to an effective form of his older self

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I could see one of the fullbacks or kicker we signed sticking around. I don't know their names, but those guys never get drafted and make teams all the time.

Fair enough, nicely worded and legit.

And Ekpre-Olomu will be getting paid like a 7th round pick, but performing like something much better.

Or secondary is already among the best in the NFL (assuming Skrine is replaced by Williams or Gilbert). If we had one more corner who was merely above-average, we could be dominate. Like the Jets corners except only one of them will be getting paid a ton. This would allow us to bring the house almost every play.

I'm not sure you can state "among the best" just yet. I do like the odds.

With the new additions on the DL and the many DBs, try being the OC and QB playing against this defense. If any two of last years rookie elevate their game, think how many combinations an OC must factor. Front-seven alone has over eight formations ranging from 2-5 to 5-2 fronts. When have we seen potential depth at either?

I never expected us to get a thing from this guy in 2015. Give him the best medical care possible (please, no staph infections), and see you a year from now. Could be such a steal.
I do it every year, but I am getting stoked about the team. I don't think people will run on on us, I think we will rush the passer and have a great secondary. And with that OL and the tree running backs, we can have a simple, but effective offense. I am getting sucked in once again!

Browns sign 7th-round pick DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...09-4bf6c65c5876

The Cleveland Browns on Thursday signed DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (pronounced EE-foh ek-PRAY uh-LOW-moo). General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.

The Browns have now signed six of their 12 2015 draft picks. That group includes linebacker Nate Orchard (second round), defensive lineman Xavier Cooper (third round), defensive back Charles Gaines (sixth round), fullback Malcolm Johnson (sixth round) and tight end Randall Telfer (sixth round).

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu – DB | 5-9, 194 | Oregon

7th round (No. 241 overall)

Earned first-team All-America honors in 2013 and 2014 and third-team All-America honors in 2012 … Three-time first-team all-conference honoree … One of three finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award in 2014, given annually to the nation’s top defensive back … Started 40 consecutive games at Oregon before suffering a knee injury in practice before the College Football Playoff…Totaled 141 career tackles, 31 passes defensed and nine interceptions … Attended Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California.

One of those picks that when you hear it, you go what? Mostly because you have trouble saying his name LOL

By reputation, he was solid. I've read that he could have or should have gone in the 1st or at worst, high second. If he can come back healthy, this was a steal. Very low risk.

Did you notice that Danny Shelton isn't one of the guys they signed yet., I guess MKC was correct.

Welcome aboard! Plays harder here.

Slap him on the forehead to heal him. This could be one huge pick, this could.

It surely could, but we won't know until after next season is over. He'll be rehabbing this entire season.

I thought he signed late yesterday? Could easily be mistaken though

It's crazy, first we were told he signed via ESPN then we hear MKC say no. I believed he had signed then I read this and it said that he wasn't one of the guys that did sign.

But as of a few moments ago, Pit put up a link from the main site saying he and the Erving had signed.. 8 down, 4 to go. Farmer seems to be getting it done.

So I have read up on this guy a little. Did not know much about him or his injury before. I just don't follow college football as much. Anyway, I didn't realize this guy's knee injury was much more than just a simple ACL tear. Sounded possibly career ending. Hopefully, this guy can come back and contribute!

Based off memory, Ifo wanted to come out LAST year (and was projected last year as a top 40 player) ... but was then advised to return to school because he had the potential to go in the top 15 of the 2015 draft ... and then suffered the tragic injury obviously

I was pumped when we drafted him because of the possible upside that comes with him (I also wanted us to draft Lael Collins in the 7th as well for the same reason)
