I said it before, Quinn qill outshine Frye in camp, but I hope the organization has the discipline to let him sit this season....

Actually the best thing is to get the Oline set and everyone there getting used to playing with each other and whatever postions they will mann..
To me that needs to be set first..

I have been out of pocket. What is the status of Turner from San Diego? Could they be a possible trade partner for Shaffer? What is the outlook for a good running back in FA next year or thru the draft? Do we try to get back into the first round via Frye, Shaffer and or lower rounds?
At this point given our personnel I would think a quality RB would be a priority. I can understand PS's logic for the 07 draft. But I really wanted to see star power at RB in a Brown's uniform. I am sure AP will light it up with the Vikings. Where do we go from here at running back?

If Quinn outshines #9, why would you want Quinn to sit?
If our protection and running game is as good as I think it can be, we will NOT damage him by starting him week one.
Charlie Weis thinks he's ready to go out of the gate, and if he is, I have no problem with that, it would give us the best chance to win not only now but in the future as well.

They (reportedly) wanted more than a 1st round pick for Turner before the draft, so a deal didn't get done. They now say that he won't be traded no matter what. Of course that isn't the case, but it'd still take a 1st at least to land him.
Bottom line is that it's highly unlikely he's anything but a Charger this year.

This is the Chargers big year to make that superbowl run. LT gets hurt they have turner and he can be a good back. They trade turner and LT goes down they are drafting high.
With norv as HC i dont think it matters, I dont think he could win with the 91 eagles defense and the 89 49ers offense.

From what I remember, McKinney was a viable starter before the injury. Here's hoping he's still the same. Likewise, bumping Shaffer over to RT would put Tucker in the spot to compete, and I don't care how much of a lack of mobility he has, it won't be much different than Coleman's.

...and me...and many others that have been holding their breath for a good LT (and OL) since '99.
Many things that he said about the line and it's effect on the running game, the passing game and ultimately the D have been things that I (and many others) have been saying right along. Now we just have to find out if we were right.

No kiddin - everyone kept saying how NFL ready he was.... so if he's ready and the line is decent to good at the beginning of the year I'm fine with him starting day one... don't think it'll happen, but I'm good with it.

I hate to say this, but Phil has been reading my posts.
Thomas helps running and passing, whereas Peterson only helped the run. Quinn was a non-factor.
I am glad it went down that way, and I am happy that Savage went up and got Quinn as well. The Browns were in position to consider him at 3, then 22 is a no-brainer, espicially with Baltimore sitting there at 29, and Detroit at the top of the 2nd.
I am feeling better about Savage. His rationale for first round selection last year and this year have been well thought out.
If Wright works out, then this draft may result in at least 3 starters, that is good progress.

A first and third was too much. Turner was worth a late first or early second. Next year if he is a FA, the Chargers get a 3rd as a comp pick. ... the following year.
In retrospect, the Chargers should have traded Turner to move up in rounds 1 & 2.
They would have got a better reciever, and not pay through the nose for Weddle.
