So, we are expected our 2nd child in October, so the Camaro must go.

I am thinking about a used Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-9, Acadi, Equnoix... really any midsize SUV. I figure I need a SUV now because are going to pack more stuff (double strollers ect...)

If you have any of those cars please let me know your experience. Thanks much.

First off, why?

I got the Bmw, wife has an X3 and we got a cheap jeep Cherokee. I still kept my toy.

But for the sake of you bein set in your ways.....

Murano, Acadia, Equinox are all trash.

The CRV is probabaly the best for you. It's a 4 banger with AWD. the Hondas come with a standard backup camera as well. Plenty of room, actually I think it's the best in class.

Also, since your chopping your balls off and going straight safety, it's got the best crash rating. Also, if you get the EX model, it's got his feature called Honda lane watch. It's a camera on the passenger side mirror to see your blind spots, and you can have it on all the time if you choose too.

Also, it's cheaper, better warranties, better realiablity.

I bought a car about a year ago, looked at the Murano and others in the class you are looking at and I'll disagree with Swish, the Murano is a nice car. I ended up getting the slightly smaller Nissan Rogue and I absolutely love it. Both my kids are grown (18-11) so I'm not hauling strollers and playpens any more but it's plenty big enough.

I will admit, since my wife works for the dealership, I got a sweet deal and got it fully decked out with leather, heated seats, all of the tech bells and whistles, moon roof, the whole thing. Rides great, gets great gas mileage. As long as it's big enough for your needs, I would highly recommend it.

I might caution against a used one though as they totally revamped the body style in 2014 and if you get one before that, it's a lot different so I can't give an opinion on that.

The Camaro is my daily driver, for me it is not practical to have it sit in the garage depreciating when I can get something for it.

The CRV is just too Soccer mommish for me, if I get a CRV I should just get it over with and get a minivan.

I am scared to get judged by guys in Tahoe's seeing me rolling in a CRV, too much shame lol.

Why are the Murano, Acadia, Equinox trash. I know that Chevy/GM "used" to have reliability issue but I thought they have been fixed.

They're trash simply off bang-for-buck.

They already are more pricier than a CRV. Then on top of that, all the features that might come standard on a CRV, you gonna have to pay for.

And you're looking at a Murano dude. There's nothing manly about that lol.

If you wanted something that had some masculine to it, while still be decent on gas, plenty of room. Go Honda Pilot.

Audi Q5 or Q7, unless one of those is way out of your price range. If that's the case, I am of no help and will quietly exit this thread.

I have experience with Chevy products and I'll say for the record, if you get an equinox or an Acadia or the Terrain (from GMC), you won't go wrong IF YOU MAINTAIN them properly.

I also have experience with Nissan products (I have a 1992 nissan 300ZX with 205k miles on it). The Murano is a heck of a nice car. As is the Rogue but a little smaller.

If you got the cash for one, you may want to look at the Caddy SRX. Also, the Chevy Traverse (lots of room in there)

Again, I bet you would like either the Subaru Forester or better yet the Outback. My neighbor just got the Outback, I drove it and I have to say, it's one helluva vehicle. Priced in the 30's. Her daughter has a Forester and swears by it.

Honda makes the CRV and while it's a quality car, it's doesn't fit me.. I was uncomfortable in it. Seats aren't comfy and the ride is too stiff for that kinda vehicle.

If you're heartset on a hybrid suv, I'd recommend Subaru Forester. You get Subaru's fantastic symmetrical all wheel drive for Ohio winters and I liked it for the few days I was in one as a loaner.

My friend has the Equinox, and speaks highly of it.

Subaru has been making great 4WD cars for decades. Both the larger Forester or the smaller/midsize Outback are great vehicles.

Like Lemmy (as you probably know) I am an Audi guy. With that price range, I would be reluctant to get a Q5 or Q7 as you won't be able to get a certified pre-owned that has the extra 3 year/100,000 mile warranty. I always buy my Audi's used as long as they are certified so I get the warranty. Audi's are NOT cheap to repair.

That said, have you thought about looking at a used Acura RDX? The 2012's and some 2013's are in your price range - my parents bought a brand new RDX last year and it is really nice. I have several friends who have MDX's as well who really like them. If I wasn't buying an Audi I'd be going with an RDX or MDX.

All the Tahoes, yukons are older and have too many miles on them, I found a 2009 Tahoe with only 85k miles which seems like a good deal. Wife has already denied me because of the 14 MPG /sigh (still trying to convince her)

I actually wanted to get a minivan but the wife didn't want one.

rofl Hilarious.

I'll chime in. I have a Honda Pilot and absolutely love it. Not overly big but w/ tons of space (adaptable for cargo & passengers), and 4 wheel drive. Safe, easy to maintain, and lasts forever (hopefully)

My model is a 2011 and I think the more recent ones look a little better.

Good luck.

While that letter may determine the plant in which the vehicle was assembled, it is not the 1st digit. The 1st digit identifies the country of origin, and for the US, the 2 options are a 1 or a 4. The plant designator is in one of the positions from 11-17 in the VIN. (I am not sure which one Honda uses, but it is one of those positions)

My back loves my minivan. I can get in and out of it comfortably, and it still has the utility to do pretty much anything I need it to do.

One other thing is to do your research and check for all kinds of incentives.

I know that Chrysler offers incentives for recent college graduate, military incentive, (within a specific time frame f honorable discharge) and so on.

Check for every discount you might qualify for. You may even qualify for discounts if the company you work for has a relationship with an auto manufacturer, or if a family member works for a manufacturer, or supplier.

Check for all of these. You never know if you might qualify for a discount or rebate, and you might as well get the cash if you qualify for it.

I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander, absolutley love it, it gets close to 30mpg on the highway, has the 3rd seating if you want it. My only complaint, the middle row seats won't fold down flat.

Wife has a 2014 Kia Sorrento, she loves everything about it, it seems huge inside, love the extra storage space in the back. The only drawback she says, drivers seat isn't that comfortable.

Both can be had brand new for under $25k.

Jeep Patriot.
The fiancee just got one and she absolutely LOVES it. She got rid of a KIA Sorrento for it.

Personally, I'm not an SUV guy, so I'd recommend something like a Ford Fusion, although in your price range, you can probably pick up a used Lincoln MKZ. You could also lease a Cadillac for what those monthly payments would be.

Update...

Went in to get a Tahoe and I left with a Impala 2lt lol.

I talked myself and my wife into getting a Tahoe but once I broke down the numbers and added how much extra gas would cost us, my practical side just couldn't stomach it. I am 6'3 so i needed some room and it has the room, it has the tech upgrade, so bluetooth, leather and other goodies. They gave me a very fair trade for my camaro and end up getting it 5k lower then KBB, so I left happy. Happy I got the car, happy i can stop car shopping lol.
