We need to understand that we will not change a person's opinion and faith. Onlly they might do that. The only thing we can do or control is change how WE think or feel, not try to change another. It will not work.

A wise college profesor once told me, don't worry about the things you can't control. There are way to many obstacles in our course that we can change if we choose. Focus on them and good things will come to you!

We will certainly not do it using logic/reason or insults/anger.. those two things are useless in a debate on religion...

Live right, do good, be happy... and the right people will want to follow your example. If that leads them your faith, then that is the best you can hope for.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Amen.

From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth,
From the laziness that is content with half-truths,
From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth,
Oh God of Truth, deliver us.

Amen

So does Islam exist with the old Arab belief in the one true God or did Islam replace the belief of Abraham in God?

Muslims believe in what they consider to be the "One true God", but the God they worship does not have the same character, traits, or morality of the Judeo-Christian God. The Islamic Allah and the Christian God cannot both be true, because the Islamic Allah contradicts the Christian God in many ways. If one is true, then the other has to be false.

I also do believe that a huge number of Muslims, most of whom have probably never read their Koran, honestly and truly believe that they are worshiping the same God Christians and Jews do. However, the character of God is completely incompatible with the character of the Islamic Allah. I do believe that many Muslims have never looked inside of their Holy book. They rely upon their Mosques to teach them what their Holy book says, thus they never get to see the massive inconsistencies in the Koran.

According to some I am full of something ......

My pastor told me that it is the Holy Spirit. laugh

I have been lucky in that I have time to study the Bible, because I can lug it with me wherever I go, and can read it sitting down or lying down.

I try my best to answer things as honestly and properly as I can, but I encourage people to read the Bible for themselves, and see for themselves based upon the Word of God.

Many Christians use the term Born Again and most of us know what it means but for those who do not, would you care to tell us what it means to be Born Again, Sir?

Being Born again is simply accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior and beginning a new life by the leading of the Holy Spirit rather than being led by our fleshly desires, also God changes things in our lives in His time, like when I was saved for nine months I still drank my beer, but God finally helped me remove that from my life by the leading of the Holy Spirit. We are always being cleaned up by the Lord and none of us perfect only God is ....

In John 3, Jesus said the following:

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

I think it's sad. I'm a firm believer in the Bible, God and Jesus Christ, but this has gotten to be over the top. I'm not sure anymore if Everything Else is a message board forum about all subjects, or an evangelistic tent revival.

yes I am... Damn getting ready to breach west of the town I live in, but that is 10 miles from me and will flow away from me... we have been lucky... 5 tornadoes this spring in and around my homestead but all have managed to skirt me... I assume GOD has a plan and does want me to end up like that cow in " Twister", ( which was a stupid movie BTW).

Thanks for asking

The thread is about anti Islamic Rhetoric. If you feel that somehow Christianity is a part of that, then I guess it is about Christianity.

Yes they do. I was just pointing out to Y-Town that religion really wasn't the thread topic as it seemed he was suggesting.

Fair enough. Back to the thread.

Do you think the anti islamic stuff has anything to do with Manziel vs. McCown, Pettine vs. any of our other coaches.....perhaps the riots in Baltimore, Ferguson, race, abortion, or politics? OR, will the Cav's beat the warriors? And if so, is the name "warriors" insensitive to native Americans and should they be sued to change their name?

What I find really sad is Christians who have found a way to justify what is considered sin in their own religion. What's next? Christians without Jesus?

As many of us look around us and see a drunken, whoring Secret Service, football teams cheating, FIFA thieves taking bribes, Bankers stealing our money, perversion considered normal, Government officials spying on us and then lying when caught.

Radical Islam is now crucifying Christian children and beheading our kind while here at home traditional Christian morals are being referred to as Hate Speech.

It has become necessary for ALL Christians to speak up and point a finger at the catastrophe that our Society is becoming.

Straighten up and live a Moral life so we Christians can return to that soft and grassy field we once laid in without much of a care in the world.
We are tired of having to pay attention to your world but your filth has spilled into our wells and we are now forced to "STAND"!

Nothing has really changed. Just because EVERYONE has cameras and there's 24/7 news networks everywhere you look, you just hear a lot more of what goes on.

There has never been that "grassy field". Native Americans were robbed of their names, native tongues and traditions in those "grassy fields" you speak of.

They're all tied together. It's a multi-pronged plot by the Obama administration to slowly install marshal law on the nation so the elections never happen and he can become dictator of the United States.
