Hello!
Just wondering if we could get some advice....
We are looking to go to the Browns vs Steelers game on Nov 11th in dreaded Pittsburgh.
Do you have any recommendations as to where we should get a hotel? Any bars that we should go to (that a Browns fan may feel welcome in, haha!)?
Anyone else going to tailgate? I heard we have to get some sort of a parking pass?!
Any help would be great, thanks gang.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter. We'd just like to be close, that's the most important thing.

I found that La Quinta in Independence was marvelous!!! It was only about $60 a night, and it was just as good as any $150 hotels I've been in! I highly recomend that, for what it's worth. PS, it's only about 10-15 minutes from downtown Cleveland. Close to the staduim, but just far enough away to escape the hussle and bussle.

How close are you looking to get? One of the hotels I'd recommend is about 2 miles from the Ketchup bowl.
But the area surrounding this hotel is great! Lots of little restraunts, bars, pubs and shops etc. Probably one of my favorite areas of Pittsburgh (if there is such a thing).
Courtyard at Shadyside. Will run you about $130-$180 per night.
Edit to Add:
But if you're looking for walking distance from the game...The DoubleTree Downtown is less than a half mile away and will run about $100-$140 per night. But I don't know the surrounding area there as well

No, after my bad game-time experience in Cincy a few years ago, I've vowed not to do away games ever again.

I've seen some stupid people there, but I've never had a problem personally.
When it comes to games with Browns, Pitts, and Balt.... they get a little more aggresive as a whole. If you were a KC or Minn. fan, nobody would look twice at you.

Not far enough. With a strong east wind, you can still smell it.

I know. The smell of ketchup and BO makes me sick! That's why I moved away from the cleveland area.

LOL! I did kinda jump the gun on that one. I'm sure there's a La Quinta in Pittsburgh, though!

I'm still wondering about this one.. I mean the burp is known for ketchup and BO.. why would that mean you had to relocate from Cleveland tho? I assume you meant puttspuke?

Because jfanent said: "With a strong east wind, you can still smell it." ... meaning you can smell Pittsburgh while in Cleveland if the wind is strong enough. Now who's on top of it?

Well.. reason I asked is because he's in Oregon which is more the Toiledo area than Cleveland... But.. I stand corrected ma'am. It's all good.. an OnB would'nt be much good in Cleveland now would it?

I think that I would much rather stay in the state of Ohio and watch the game on television then to make the ride into Pittsburgh! Why would anyone.............want to walk into a stadium..........will all those ugly terrible towels!

Obviously to be there when we dominate them in their beloved stadium. I've watched plenty of Steelers fans rejoice after beating Cleveland in our home stadium. I want to repay it.

Well when I hear that....................makes a lot of sense to me! If I were in the area at the time I would join you for a cold beer.........wear the brown and orange proud my friend...................it would have to be a proud moment to be in Ketchup stadium wearing the brown and orange colors!

Hey....I live EAST of Toledo. The east winds bring in the smells of other places. It definitely IS toiledo with all the michigan and stooler fans that pop out of the woodwork. The best thing about living here is the fishing (smallmouth and walleye), the hockey and the golf.
Anyway...my contention was that you can smell the Heinz dump from CBS.

Check Hotwire.com you can usually get the Hampton or Hilton Garden downtown for around $40. they don't tell you which hotel but it's usually one of those two or the Holiday Inn.

I heard we have to get some sort of a parking pass?!
Those need to be bought in advance, and they can get rather expensive. I would check eBay early and often to get one of those. The gold lot parking passes are right next to the stadium, and that's where the best tailgating happens. If you can't get a parking pass, you will have to pay around $20 to park in one of the parking lots around the stadium.
Good luck and have fun!
