Browns' over/under win total among NFL's lowest Pat McManamon, ESPN Staff Writer This morning we explained how most pundits view the Cleveland Browns, and it's not well. Now comes more of the same, this time from those who set the odds. The gambling site Bovada released its over/under totals for the 2015 season, and the Browns are at 6 1/2. Only Jacksonville (5 1/2), Oakland (5 1/2), Tennessee (5 1/2) and Tampa Bay (6) are lower. Green Bay, Indianapolis and Seattle have the highest over/under at 11. In the AFC North, Bovada has Baltimore at nine and Pittsburgh and Cincinnati both at 8 1/2. The total of 6 1/2 for the Browns is consistent with other sites' thinking. VegasSportsBook.com has the Browns at 100-to-1 odds to win the Super Bowl, 40-to-1 to reach the game. It also has the Browns at anywhere from 2 1/2- to 3-point underdogs in the season opener against the Jets. Finally, CBSports.com feels it's wisest to bet the under on the 6 1/2. As we said when we addressed the reality that the Browns' average in several power rankings is No. 28, it's a good thing they play the games. http://espn.go.com/blog/cleveland-browns...-leagues-lowestAll due to the horrid QB situation I believe. I would take the under, and laugh all the way to the bank.................

I'll take the over, believing we win at least 7.

I don't think the AFC North is all that strong to be honest with you.
Pittsburgh & Baltimore have a lot of question marks on their defense(s) and the Ravens don't really have a lot of offensive weapons right now.
Cincinnati is an enigma cause you never know which Andy Dalton you're going to get each week, and their defense isn't nearly as lights out as it once was.
I certainly think a bad season is possible, but I wouldn't rule out a surprisingly successful season either.
I really think we've improved this roster from top to bottom and if the running game is clicking, the offensive line is clicking and if the defense lives up to the hype and can generate stops and turnovers our offense will be able to just enough to win games. Last year our special teams were atrocious, those should only get better as well.
I would say 6-10 is a pretty safe bet, but 8-8 or 9-7 wouldn't be all that surprising given the level of talent we have.
The 2014 Browns were dependent on the running game. The 2015 Browns will also be dependent on the running game.
Effective running game means that McCown will be a lateral move from Hoyer.

Solid point Swish...
Their defense is garbage, but there offense always seems to play above its talent level.
I'm sure they'll still be a 10-6 team.
All I was pointing out was that it's not necessarily impossible that they're bad this year.
The defense lost Dick L. as the coordinator, and they're replacing a lot of pieces...

Yea i'm wondering what their defense is going to look like without Lebeau.

Yea i'm wondering what their defense is going to look like without Lebeau. Exactly... It was bad last year to begin with, now they have a new coordinator. Their offense is going to have to score 31+ points a game just to win. Ours might be able to get away with 20ish a game, if our defense lives up to the hype...

I'll take the over, believing we win at least 7. I think that we win at least 9. I believe that our defense is going to take steps towards elite status this year. Our OL should be one of the very best in the NFL, and our run game should be amazing. If the QB has to be the backbone of the team, then we're in trouble. The team is not built for that scenario. We are built to be a strong running team, with an elite defense, and opportunistic passing. I like the fact that we will run more screen and swing passes t the RB, and that we will use the TE a great deal more. (at least that is what it appeared in one OTA report I read) This team will win at least 9 games this year. Book it.

Like the article stated thats why we play the games.
Well it just might be true. Last year we took the Steelers at their field down to the wire and then beat them at home. The best we ever did with them in a season since 1999. Ravens our Kicking game lost that close one. The 2nd game the season was over and we utilized our 3rd string QB.
Bengals we just exchanged embarrassing losses to each other in our Home fields.
We are the only one in our Division that is still searching for their Franchise QB...All else in check I think we have surpassed our Division foes in those areas.

I agree with all that, it's just that getting over that seven win hump isn't something I would bet on right now.

Who would have bet on us winning 5 games last year going into the season?
Heck, I am usually optimistic, and I had us at 6-9-1.

Last preseason our offense looked like hot garbage, and that's being polite about it...
We had question marks everywhere on offense.
The defense had to be the backbone for the team to be competitive.
Well the 2015 Browns will be the same. Except the offense now has some proven players. Our roster looks better on every single front compared to 2014. (Except maybe QB & TE depending on who you ask).
I honestly cannot see any worse than 6-10, and even that would be a real disappointment in my opinion.

Those are better odds than I expected from you. I like to keep expectations low, that way if we win even one game I can be excited. (By the end of the off-season I will think we are going 16-0 and be disappointed by every game we lose.) I just have to say, people know our QB is Josh McCown, right?

I'm very aware that it's McCown, and trust me, I don't like it and I hate(d) the signing. BUT... There isn't much point in constantly pissing and moaning about it. What would be the point of even visiting these boards, getting excited about football, or attending the games if there was zero hope or optimism?

Well since this is not the official prediction thread where I'm always at 16-0
My realistic expectations of this team is to win our Division...a milestone in our existence.
Yes, hold me too it. Praise me or mock me don't care. I do believe in this. I don't go Boo Hoo if it is not to be. I don't accept Defeat as a possible thought process.
But I do feel we have turned that page - we are going to turn a lot of heads and get the Bozo's to - JUMP ON THE BAND WAGON...lol they do it so easily
I'm running out of years so its an imperative that our dynasty starts here and now. We'll get in the playoffs but because we do not have that Franchise QB in place then we will no go far in the playoffs this year. With one possibility though.
For whatever reason, a turned ankle, concussion, who knows how these Wally Gipp moments occur. Manziel takes over the reigns of the team and simply gets better with each game...then I expect a Wilson moment of success!

Wow, that's a tough over/under.
I have faith we're a 6 or 7 win team, but to bet money on either side of that is going to be rough. The way I see it, these are our chances:
11-5 = 1% 10-6 = 3% 9-7 = 6% 8-8 = 10% 7-9 = 30% -6.5 Line- 6-10 = 30% 5-11 = 10% 4-12 = 6% 3-13 = 3% 2-14 = 1%
I wouldn't know where to put my money. Well, I take that back, I'm a Clevelander so I can probably assume we'll be 1-15.

The schedule, the loss of Shanny, and QB mess makes me think that the under would be the smart bet.
Of course, it is really too early to make a real prediction. I am just expecting another dismal season on the lakefront.

The only way we top 6 games is if the defense plays elite and wins some games for us. While I think we are on our way to having a very nice defense, until we see it on the field, I can't say that they are there.
I think the under is the smart bet. When you don't have a QB, you really don't have a chance.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Tough schedule, new o-coordinator, typical Browns issues and so forth... could possibly change my opinion though. Real practice hasn't even started yet.

Seems at least 8-10 games a year come down to the last couple minutes every year. Parity has done that. Question is when we need to go the length of the field on the last drive to win or send it into OT(which will happen at least 5 or 6 times), who are we depending on to do that? McCown or Manziel at QB, Crow, West, or Johnson at RB, Bowe, Hartline, Hawkins, or Gabriel at wr, not even sure who our TE is going to be. I don't want to seem overly pessimistic but this group probably strikes the least amount of fear into defenses as any throughout the NFL. I say take the unders. I could see us winning 8 if the stars align and everything falls into place but we are the Browns. That never happens.

I quit reading right there. Seriously Kelso? Maybe that was incorrect phrasing. I don't think the AFC North is an unclimbable hill for us. Pittsburghs defense is trash. Baltimore doesn't have a lot of proven weapons on offense and their secondary is weak. Cincinnati has Andy Dalton, and their defense has only taken steps backwards in the last two years.

I would take the under. Now if the over/under were five and a half games, it would be a much tougher call for me.
While I believe the D overall will be improved, I don't see much if any improvement on the O and we have a much tougher schedule.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I get that it's very popular to be optimistic and it will win you many friends, just as it was to be ultra-negative when Banner was here.
You guys can pat each other on the back, belittle anyone who has an opposing opinion, congregate together and tell yourselves that you are right because you are the majority, but reality has a way of slapping you in the face.
And reality has slapped you a lot over the years. Too bad it never woke you guys up.
Hmmmm.....should I have used purple font or not? LOL
