This was bound to happen, as there's too much capital invested to gut it. The next one up is legalizing gay marriage. Probably a hell of a week to be in the wedding business.

Well, upset but not shocked. About all I'll say on the matter.

I thought it would go 5-4, not 6-3, but like I said, the greased wheels were already in motion on this one. Far too much money already invested, and to gut it would be an absolute nightmare for the people of the states that would opt out. We were stuck with the thing the minute it passed.

nationwide healthcare wasn't gonna be a walk in the park.

it's painful. all changes are.

We don't have nationwide healthcare. I still pay handsomely for mine, and probably a little for someone else's.

i pay for healthcare too. as well as somebody else's. don't act like you're the only one.

and i have no problem with it. cause i understand the long term goal.

I just view it as a very expensive handjob for Aetna, Humana, United, Wellpoint, and Kaiser...

I'm going to listen to conservative talk radio when same-sex marriage is ruled constitutional. It'll be quality entertainment.

There's still the possibility that they go for the more muted decision of letting states decide individually, but binding them to recognize the marriages of other states.

This is why we should have cut the insurance companies out and gone straight single payer. I blame the republicans for this. (of course)

The alternative was the status quo... and that was breaking the backs of hospitals because all the ERs are forced to give treatment to those who could not pay.

I blame the Democrats. They had their time to pitch single payer. There was a window to win it. And they followed the money.

I still want to know how it really helps people who can barely afford to buy a policy that gives them utter crap for a policy, with high co-pays and higher deductibles that they cannot afford to pay anyway?

Obamacare is a nuisance to the wealthy, a crippling burden on the middle class, and pretty close to the status quo for the poor.

Democrats and Republicans are the same thing honestly. But there was no way we would be able to pitch a single payer system and win. The backlash now is almost unbearable from the Right. There was just no chance.

I don't know what color font no sarcasm/no joke is around here, but legend has it that it was originally supposed to be Mary & The Supremes, but Wilson turned down Barry's advances and Ross didn't. I've always wished that were just a salacious story, but recognized that it probably wasn't.

They aren't going to shoot down gay marriage. It's either going to be blanket acceptance, or a quasi acceptance. Anti-gay marriage doesn't have a logical basis in the arena of the courts. There's no intelligent legal argument against it. It's a win for gays or a watered-down win for gays. I hope its the former. I have a friend back in Ohio who is on pins and needles waiting to file to marry his boyfriend of 6 years. I hope for his sake that it's a clear-cut stake through the heart of spite. I hope Danny & Joe get married on Saturday.

If they're willing to go all out and give us SCOTUScare I think gay marriage passes with ease.

I'm really surprised that people don't understand the reality of healthcare.

Before the ACA, people paid higher rates every year with higher co pays and higher deductibles. Nothing really changed there.

What the complaints are about, in reality, is whether you pay to help subsidize health care for people, or pay to subsidize the cost of the uninsured. Either way you pay, it's just a question of how you pay.
