Any team with Lebron and a good supporting cast is going to dominate the East. Rejoice Clevelanders, we're *this* close to winning a title in the near future.

When the Cap goes up, will the Tax level also go up?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Gilbert's luxury tax payment could be $75-85 million. The Indians payroll this season is $84 million. It's like Gilbert owns another team https://twitter.com/SportsBoyTony

What will this team do with Haywood? Big question.

With Love and TT allegedly coming back, Windhorst was right.... Eehhh ... Windhorst was the guy that was adamant all season long that Love didn't get along with Lebron and was looking for a way out as soon as he could. Every single article that mentioned Love wanting out referenced Windhorst. Like I said before, I think the guy is about as connected as an unopened bag of Legos now. It wasn't hard to predict that Gilbert was going to spend money this season. He's never been cheap about trying to put out a contender. And now Windy was wrong on yet another drum he beat all year long.

Kevin Love announces he is returning to Cleveland Cavaliers | cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2015/07/kevin_love_announces_he_is_ret.html#incart_2boxFRESNO, Calif. – Free agent Kevin Love announces via the Players Tribune that he is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Love, 26, has agreed to sign a five-year, $110 million deal as soon as the moratorium period ends on July 9. He was expected to take a meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers this week, but obviously that fell through. The three-time All-Star returning should keep the Cavaliers atop of the Eastern Conference. He stated all along that he would come back, despite struggling throughout his first season teamed up with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The Boston Celtics and Lakers were supposed to pry him away, but Love stayed true to his word. The power forward is coming off of a year averaging 16.4 points and 9.7 rebounds. Those were his lowest totals since his rookie campaign. His role is expected to enhance in his second season under the same system. Those close to him says he's in store for a breakout year.

It's like Gilbert owns another team https://twitter.com/SportsBoyTony To be fair, Lebron prints him money and he sells out every single game at maximum price. A few years ago, people were starting to throw Gilbert under the bus because the Cavs couldn't turn three #1 picks into a playoff team and thought Gilbert needed to go.

So what angle is ESPN going to go with next year? We're running out of free agents for them to theoretically chase out of town with their unnamed sources. How are they going to keep up their annual tradition? I guess Lebron is technically on a one-year deal again, so prepare for stories of "Lebron secretly regrets move back to Cleveland, wants out"

It's like Gilbert owns another team https://twitter.com/SportsBoyTony From a long-term business viewpoint, however, if the moves get us a championship, it pays off in a big, big, big way. That $85 million probably nearly gets repaid this year in merchandise, etc.... plus, I'm sure our cap situation improves in the coming years, too, so that increases the boom. Over the next five years, if this is the dynasty we're hoping it will be, he's going to make a TON of money from that luxury hit.

(re-signing Love) There were times this year that this looked shaky. https://twitter.com/ESPNClevelandAnd to be honest, I believe it. Things were shaky on SEVERAL fronts early-to-mid season.

I think Love signing a max 5 year this year helped them go-ahead and give TT what amounts to a max as well. Love's contract could of gone up considerably had he taken a one year deal and resigned again next year. By locking both into max deals this year, we'll save money on the luxary tax in future years when the cap goes up.
But don't think that's opening up a ton of cap room for us to sign free agents next year. We'll still be well over. We're just solidifying the guys we have now as the guys we're going to stick with. I just hope we can flip Haywood for a decent piece.

It's great news that these guys are taking multi year deals. I was afraid that they'd all pull a Lebron 1+1 move...and frankly I'm confused as to why they're not...

Interesting. Is he taking JR's roster spot? I saw last night that Mike Miller opted in, we knew he would because nobody else would offer him a contract. Well.... So much for that rumor. Dunleavy signs 3 year deal with Bulls Dunleavy can’t officially sign until July 9 — there is an moratorium on free agency signing until then — but the deal is in place. Dunleavy was reportedly eager to stay with the Bulls, and now he’s gotten his wish. It’s perhaps disappointing for the Cavs to miss out on an experienced, quality shooter, but Dunleavy was never likely to make it to Cleveland. That's impossible. If LeBron wanted Dunleavy, then Gilbert would have paid him a billion dollars because Gilbert is just a puppet on LeBron's strings... or at least that's what the national media says.

TT is essentially getting paid for two decent seasons and one great off-season. His value was high and might not get any higher. If he played next year, and was shown to be nothing more than a bench guy he wouldn't be getting what he's getting now. Kevin Love is coming off another pretty big injury. If he goes into another one year deal and gets injured again ... or comes back worse for wear after this shoulder injury, then he wouldn't be getting that much either.

Any way TT's cap hit this year will be relatively low and then can spike when the new CBA kicks in?

Not really, I think there are restrictions as to how much you can backload a contract. You can only give raises of something like 4% each year of the deal.
