Awesome news!!!!

I know most people didn't agree w/this line of thinking, but I thought keeping Love and TT were the first two priorities. I am so excited about these moves. Damn Gilbert...........you wanna buy the Browns?

Now, on to acquiring a backup PG who has the ability to start, just in case Kyrie gets injured again.

Man..........what a great day! We just set ourselves up as one of the favorites---if not the favorite---to win the next 2 or 3 championships.

Oh........and I kinda thought the "pool" article was BS, but it was obviously legit. Good find, YTown.

Man, I am so happy...... thumbsup

Mo williams is suppose to be meeting with the cavs to be the backup PG.

lets hope that happens

Yeah, I read that.

Mixed feelings. I like his scoring ability and he is a spot-up shooter. I was hoping for a guy that is a defender, though.

I am still working through that. It would probably be a good move. Still have more processing to do.

But bro..........you gotta love us keeping Love and TT, right? Man, that is so freaking sweet!

I'm happy TT signed. If he could improve his inside scoring game and continue to beast it on rebounds, then all the better.

I read what Love had to say. I dig it. "Unfinished business" for sure! Bring the championships, multiple championships, home to Cleveland!

yea all day. i made a post saying #1-2 priority was them two.

glad we got that out the way. now it's all about quality depth.

I think mo williams is a good fit, as the finals showed, great defense is only going to get you so far. we need scoring, because they are coming with fire out there in the West. He will be an overall upgrade over Delly. but we're keeping delly as well.

IMO, if we bring in mo williams, we should definitely consider bringing back JR.

I think TT can improve. I don't believe he'll ever be a shooter. Hell, he can't decide which hand to shoot with from the FT line. LOL

However, I do think that I saw glimpses of improved footwork in the post in the Finals. What he needs to do is work really hard on his footwork so he actually has some inside moves instead of relying completely on his athleticism. I am not saying to go away from being an athletic stud, but he really needs to improve his footwork in the paint. And that is something that is teachable. His desire, knowing where the ball will come off the rim, tenacity, strength, agility, positioning, explosiveness, etc is not teachable.

And that is what I think so many are missing.

No, you're wrong.

MOST posters wanted both TT and Love back but understood $$ is a factor.

MOST posters questioned giving TT max money.

MOST posters knew TT was probably coming back because of Lebron James, but unsure of the money ramifications

MOST posters know your shtick.

You gotta give Gilbert credit. The guy is willing to spend the money and he really seems to be determined to win the championship.

Yes I am loving these longer term contracts! Shumpert was almost a must-sign. He probably has the quickest hands on the team and is an excellent defender who can hit some shots when too much attention is given to LBJ.

Love, TT, Shumpert... I hope JR lowers his money wants and we can get him back too. Bring the entire crew that we were destroying people midseason there and above back!.

I disagree with that, correct me if wrong, but there is still a "cap" on spending. The Yankees could pay anything they want for any players they want. We are just in a fortunate situation of having a lot of talent already on the team, and paying their market value. Except for Tristan, I don't see how he is a max player. If he gobbles up enough boards in the playoffs to win us a title, then I'd say he was worth it.

Based on the crazy money being thrown around, is JR worth that type of deal?

The money, maybe. The years? Not much of a chance IMHO.

JR Smith is that type of player that can either win you a game or light a match and set your whole team on fire. I would rather trade haywoods expiring to get more consistency if we can.

I'm pretty surprised Shump got $10 million / year. Agent must have leveraged the fact the Cavs aren't able to sign low-cost FA signing due to the cap (if I understand that part correctly.) That puts him about the same as Zach Randolph, Anderson Varejao, Gerald Wallace. It's more than the big money Lance Stephenson signed for. More than Jeff Green, Dirk (who obviously could have gotten more), Trevor Ariza, Pau... I don't know, maybe it's not a lot but it sure looks like a lot. It's tied for what is currently listed as the 50th-highest average salary in the NBA... or the second-highest player on some team.

Wow! That's pretty interesting.

I like Shump's defense and flexibility. I do think he hesitates too much on offense and that really hinders his game.

He needs to learn how to finish. He had a wide open transition and I remember him getting stuffed by the rim many times. If you don't have a dunk or jump game, lay it up, two points better than no points and the embarrassment of getting rim rejected.

for sure.

man, i can't name all the times he had these crazy highlight reels getting into the lane...only to miss the layup.

so infuriating. I'm like DUDE, thats a top 10 SC highlight if you could just finish the damn layup or dunk.

Those are old deals though.

I think based on what people are getting during this free agency period and definitely in the next couple of years that he'll be a bargain...

Yeah exactly. He had 3 or so I can remember off hand just in the playoffs where he displayed some Kyrie/Kobe-like handles, got right to the rim, and then blew the layup. I'm hoping his injured shoulder had something to do with it.

I am quite sure that his shoulder had a lot to do with it. I read that he could barely lift his arm without a shot in those last several games of the Finals. I am sure that he was completely off balance physically, but he knew that there was just no one else to go, so he stayed in the game.
