So, what have I said that is wrong? You think when costs for a business go up, prices don't follow?
If a company makes aluminum bats, and the price of aluminum goes up, does the company increase the price of the bats? Or not?
If the labor price for people making cars goes up, do you think the manufacturer factors that in to the price of the cars?
If fuel prices go up, do you not think delivery companies increase the price of delivery?
Where am I wrong? When the price of producing a product goes up, the price of the product goes up as well. It's really not hard to follow that.

I agree with your premise arch. The cost would have to go up. I'm not sure that even if minimum wage goes up drastically that the overall cost of labor alone would increase prices as drastically as some try to indicate though. Some try to make it sound like prices would take a huge hike but I don't believe the labor costs on products is the major cost.

Some try to make it sound like prices would take a huge hike but I don't believe the labor costs on products is the major cost. The "major" cost? I don't know. But anytime input costs go up, output costs go up as well. There's no "eat the cost" involved. Health insurance is now increasing costs of products, like it or not. And there a many businesses that are saying "screw that. We won't supply health insurance anymore. What we will do is give you a monthly allowance and you get your own insurance. When the price of wheat goes up, you think food processors just eat the cost? No - the raise their prices. I simply don't understand how some people think raising minimum wage to double what it currently is won't affect the price of whatever product/service is being supplied. It's crazy thinking. Or, maybe I should use the opposite terms of many on this board and say "it's liberal thinking"? When costs go up, prices go up. Period. End of discussion. Yet some people think "oh, let's be fair, heck the company can just eat those costs."

Many Democrats pull votes from the right and independents because those voters vote for who they think would give them the most free stuff. Fixed it.

Like I said in my previous post, I agree with you. I do believe the estimated cost to consumers is exaggerated by some though. I'm not disagreeing that costs will increase. Just using an example, let's look at operating costs. You have the franchise cost, cost of food, taxes, insurance utilities and a host of other costs. The vast majority of their workers are part time so the cost of health care is quite small. Then you have the cost of the actual wages of the employees.
So costs will certainly increase as you stated. I'm just not sure in the grand scheme of things how much of a rise in prices there will actually be.

j/c http://www.jameswebb.com/I've mentioned before how Webb is a Blue Dog Democrat. Much in the likeness of Kennedy. He has military experience and was also Secretary of the Navy along with being a Senator. He is the perfect candidate to garner votes from moderates who usually decide elections. He won't be endorsed by the left, that much is for sure. I urge everyone who considers themselves as having some level of moderation in their political views to take a look at his web site and his platform. There really is a common sense candidate out there.

i said the irony because for somebody claiming somebody can't follow along, you're the main one with the problem of following along in threads with the quick reply.
you're like the 75 year old who can't figure out how these darn computers work.

So, I can figure out that "quick reply" doesn't show the name of who I'm replying to............yet I'm the 75 yr. old that can't figure things out? How about the people that can't figure out the quick reply thing and how it makes them look stupid? Honestly - did you say that? That makes you look foolish. I can figure out how to reply to the person I want to reply to - yet when others can't, you blame me? Really. I would like to characterize you, as you just did me, but I won't.

It's truly no wonder that these people don't understand business. Two words rule business:
BOTTOM LINE
Doesn't matter what expense goes up-the price of the product goes up to cover the expense.

Hillary won't receive any support from me; she's just part of the same bunch (including all of the GOP field) who do nothing but serve corporate America before all American citizens.
Bernie Sanders will receive my support.

I would agree with that - sometimes employees are let go to reduce expense which also isn't good. Businesses, especially public ones, are not going to let their bottom line get hit because of a wage increase. Something has to give, be it increased prices or reduced workforce as those are the 2 easiest ways to offset an increase in labor costs. Retail will be hit the hardest as labor, after inventory, is the single biggest expense for most. Doubling wages would cause major issues to the bottom line.

so shouldn't that be where the government steps in?
like...ok lets just talk big corporations.instead of tax breaks-which most rich people used to save more money because trickle down economics doesn't work-would incentives be better?
like i'm just throwing numbers out here. but lets say the corporate tax rate is about 40 percent, and a corporation has been outsourcing their jobs like they have been doing in reality.
offering an incentive like say, if a corporation has atleast 90 percent of jobs within the US, they'll get their tax rate lowered to 15%, would that work?
would that be viable for the government AND the corporation? in a sense they'd hire more people, but the tax cut would more than offset that, right? thus more money in the pockets of the middle class.
because just a tax cut just for the sake of cutting taxes does nothing for the middle class when it comes to big business.

The big idea to get this living wage going (along with a host of other great ideas for programs) is to return the tax levels back to where they were during the Eisenhower Administration. A funny thing happens since those tax rates started to get changed. The rate remained relatively the same for middle to low income, but it became dramatically slashed for the upper income. Take a look at these charts, with data straight from the census bureau that has no bias but statistical fact, that show the true narrative. Middle income remains stagnant as taxes are kept at a different level. However, the upper earners see huge increases with earnings once the taxes start going down during the Eisenhower eras. An even more damning graph shows what's happened to the balance of economics in our country. These are the simple facts. What problems rest in returning rates to where they were before Eisenhower?

Raising the minimum wage to just $10.10 an hour by 2016 would increases wages by $35 billion, and the resulting increase in consumer spending would mean a GDP boost of $22.1 billion, which would support about 85,000 new jobs, according to an analysis by the Economic Policy Institute.

I'll say it again arch, GOP and Democratic voters don't decide elections. Independent and moderate voters do. And from where I'm sitting, I find the fact that so many conservative voters seem to applaud what Trump is saying, I find shocking and disturbing.

So, a loud mouth fool who isn't even the gop presidential candidate is somehow making independents and moderates vote for a dem. candidate? 16 months from now? I have a sneaky hunch Trump will wear out his welcome well before any voting starts. In my opinion, Trump is simply after attention - and he's getting it.

Yes, I believe many see the fact that Trump is leading in the polls by a huge margin, 2 to 1 over second placed Scott Walker as of now in Iowa, worries many people of the overall mind set of the conservative right. I believe they see it as showing the true colors of what many in the GOP truly believe. I believe it's why many of the others running for the nomination and the party itself see Trump as hurting the party right now and I tend to agree with them. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/t...1e0e_story.htmlhttp://www.today.com/news/lindsey-graham-calls-donald-trump-wrecking-ball-republicans-t32251

Trump has name recognition at this point, and at this point that's what matters.

Since 1972, the GOP winner of the Iowa Caucus has earned the party nomination twice. It's little more than a glorified state fair. I wouldn't put much stock in Trump's numbers there.
