the fact that he won't talk about race relations to the one demographic that runs the country lets me know everything i need to know about him.

i've said some crazy stuff on here with regards to race relations, but seriously, come on...

Eh. I feel. I hate talking about race relations with people I know. It makes it really hard to enjoy the person's company knowing how racist they are. I don't even like talking about race on this forum.

7 Revelations from Donald Trump’s Financial Disclosure

Like almost everything associated with billionaire real estate tycoon and Olympic-level narcissist Donald Trump, the financial disclosure form he filed with the federal government this week in support of his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination was large, hard to believe, and self-referential to the point of parody.

Trump was required to file the form — which, at 92 pages, dwarfed the submissions of his opponents — in order to allow the public to flag any possible conflicts of interests that might disqualify him from sitting in the Oval Office. It lists his assets (totaling something between about $1.4 billion and infinity, considering how many properties are listed as being worth $50 million or more) and his liabilities, which come to about a quarter of a billion dollars in loans. Many of the assets Trump lists are marked as having a value that is "not readily ascertainable."

The filing lists 515 organizations in which Trump holds a position — anything from member to partner to director to president. Nearly 400 of those organizations bear Trump's name or his initials. But then, as the filing shows, the Trump name in many ways is his business: Trump earned at least $9.5 million in royalties for licensing his brand for luxury hotels and products like energy drinks, bottled water, vodka, mattresses (though not for long) and more.

The filing is also remarkable in that it reveals rather a lot about Trump's personal finances:

Most people might not know that Trump, who has both produced and appeared not just in multiple reality television programs, but Hollywood movies, is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and receives an annual pension of more than $110,000.
Trump is best known as a real estate mogul, but the filing lists stocks, mutual fund and hedge fund holdings worth at least $78 million. The Donald's preferred vehicle appears to be the BlackRock Obsidian fixed income hedge fund. According to the disclosure, he has between $25 million and $50 million invested there.

Trump has as much as $25 million in Capital One Bank checking or savings accounts and up to $5 million more in those types of accounts at JPMorgan Chase.

When it comes to stocks, Trump currently owns or has recently owned shares in Apple, Bristol Myers Squibb, Kinder Morgan and Caterpillar, among others. He also reported sizable capital gains through the sale of investments in Bank of America, Apple, Boeing, Best Buy and Facebook.
One of Trump's most interesting holdings, given the publicity he generated by claiming that Mexican immigrants to the U.S. are criminals and rapists is the Parametric Emerging Markets fund, which as of June 30, 2015 had a 6.2 percent weighting in Mexico.

Trump owns a company called Trump Follies LLC. While it might seem like a simple description of what's been going on in the national political discussion for the past month, it's actually a registered company in New York. What it does, though, is unclear. State filings provide no useful contact information and the company has no obvious presence on the Web.

And finally, considering Trump's penchant for popping off for free, he gets paid well for speaking at private engagements. The direct-marketing company ACN Inc. paid him $450,000 for three separate speeches in recent years, and electronics giant Samsung paid $150,000 to hear from him.

If the "investigation" is designed to find nothing (or it has been delayed for so long that it stands no chance of finding any wrong doing), then it opens to door for her campaign director to start wiping this from the 2016 election dialog, which would potentially put her back in it.

That might be more impressive if Sanders hadn't voted with the Democrats something like 95% of the time during the Obama administration.

Yea, you kind of have to look deeper into those numbers and throw out the ones where they voted to rename a bridge or declare September 24, national taco day and get down to the votes that really matter.

Back when I used to pay closer attention to political minutia, I always used to get a kick of the 434-1 votes on things like "We declare "Peanuts" to be a good cartoon" or "We think flowers are pretty". And I would think "who the hell doesn't like Charlie Brown?" Ron Paul, that's who. I learned about him that way, long before he came to national recognition.

Ahhh, Socialism...

As Juan Forero reports at the Wall Street Journal, Venezuela’s health-care system now requires patients to scavenge replacement heart valves. But Maduro isn’t worried. His power insulates him from the icy waters of socialism.

‘People are stunned’: Resolution to oust Boehner scrambles party’s August recess plans

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., sure knows how to party.

Meadows marked his 56th birthday Tuesday, by scheduling to move with his wife Debbie from one apartment to another in Washington, D.C. And somewhere in between packing dishes into corrugated boxes, Meadows filed an unprecedented resolution to oust House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio.

In a single stroke, the rebellious congressman has not only infuriated the GOP leadership but scrambled their plans of using the August recess to focus on the Iran deal and a web of other issues. Now, the House goes into recess with this debate churning, even if the push stands little chance of succeeding.

"We will be getting bogged down on who is speaker over the August recess," seethed Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y. "We could end up like a European parliament. We should be talking about Iran. It's terrible."

Incidentally, the resolution also had to do with moving furniture. It seeks to compel Boehner to give up the speaker's suite, with a parliamentary motion known as "vacating the chair."

"The Speaker has, through inaction, caused the power of Congress to atrophy, thereby making Congress subservient to the Executive and Judicial branches, diminishing the voice of the American People," Meadows wrote in his resolution to bump Boehner from his leadership perch.

Betcha' Boehner didn't phone Meadows to wish him a happy birthday or send over a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot.

That said, a rambunctious group of Republican insurgents, contemptuous of the House GOP leadership, may be more than happy to fete the birthday boy. Twenty-five House Republicans voted for someone other than Boehner for speaker at the start of this Congress in January. Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, voted "present."

"There's been a lot of discussion about leadership or the lack of leadership," said Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., who waged a Quixotic effort of his own to claim the speaker's gavel over the winter. Yoho marshaled precisely two votes for speaker. His own and the ballot of Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.

"I'll probably support [the resolution]," said Yoho.

"This will be pervading our thoughts through the recess," said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, who backed Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Fla., instead of Boehner. "It gives constituents the chance to lobby their members of Congress."

What King refers to is the fabled August congressional recess. The annual, midsummer leviathan, deft at spawning utter political mayhem. Part Alien. Part Sith Lord. Part Voldemort. Lawmakers fear this temporal beast, never quite knowing how it could exact its wrath.

Boehner loyalists could barely contain their anger as they stormed off the House floor Tuesday night, having just learned of Meadows' gambit.

"It's something that will disrupt our plans to talk about policy for the August recess," fumed Rep. Charles Boustany, R-La. "It's really damaging. We were trying to leave on a high note. It's divisive."

"People are stunned. People are angry that somebody would pull this stunt," said Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and a top Boehner lieutenant. "I thought we had gotten past all of this. It seems odd and bizarre."

Republicans had plotted an August agenda to hammer Democrats on the Iran nuclear deal, funding Planned Parenthood, sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants, targeting by the IRS, Hillary Clinton's emails and ObamaCare.

And now ...

"The August recess is going to be about a lot of things," Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., said.

Meadows says he doesn't intend to call up his resolution on Wednesday, the last day the House is scheduled to meet before the August respite. In fact, it's possible Meadows may never compel the House to consider his plan.

"This is not as much about the 'who' as the 'what,'" said Meadows. "It's really more about trying to have a conversation about making this place work."

A bloc of 30 to 60 House Republicans consistently exercise their muscle against Boehner. It's unclear how many of these members could support Meadows' strategy. The August recess is the great political incubator. They'll test the temperature in a month.

This episode surfaces at a period already fraught with intense, internal Republican strife, revealing GOP fissures. Just a few days ago, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took the extraordinary step of accusing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., of lying to him about the Export-Import Bank.

"I don't like being in the limelight. It is fearful when you have to do this. You have to work up courage to do this," said Meadows.

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway, R-Texas, and Meadows conducted an intense conversation for about 40 minutes toward the rear of the chamber Tuesday following the House's final vote sequence. Meadows said he could earn pariah status in the House.

"There will be potential for retribution," Meadows said.

Some conservatives may attempt to stoke a debate about Boehner over the next month. Meadows will undoubtedly score points among Tea Party loyalists and scorn from the Republican establishment.

Bold move.

Can't argue this:

If his intent really is to get Congress to actually do something productive, I applaud his efforts.

I agree. Boehner has been a horrible Speaker.

They tried to boot him from the start and were unsuccessful.
I'm glad to see them still trying.

They should tar and feather him and stick McCain on his back, then run them out of town on a rail!

I so hope 40 gets his way when it comes to the Republicans! Democrats could learn a thing or two from 40 and his "how to wreck the GOP" politics! Love it.

I get so very tired of having to school you Libs on everything
from God to Guns to Politics, but here we go again...

It was 1992 and Bush I had 88% of the public saying he was their man. The silly Democrats were tearing each other to shreds in the media! Guess what happened...

???? Not really sure what you are trying to say here...

Bill Clinton went on to become a two term President, one of the more popular Presidents of our time? Jerry Brown was out of Politics then back in then out then in? Hillary has been smeared for years? What point are you trying to prove? (Sorry I lost my GOP magic bubble glasses and let my "american wingnut" subscription run out; so I need a little translation please...)

Oh dear, let me try to make it simple for you then...

Da Dems was a fightin' like cats and dogs and Bush was comfortably ahead. The press was a sayin' the Dems were
killing themselves with their fighting.

Just like everybody is saying about the Republicans today.

One of them there fightin' Dems went on to beat Bush and
became President. Yes it was Clinton.

So the next time you guys want to say haha the fightin'
Republicans are killing theyselves, remember your history.

I just wish we had a better selection of candidates. Funny how people are in love with Trump, who had 5 deferments during the Vietnam War. How, why would anyone even consider voting for a coward?

Because he says what they like to hear.

It really is that simple to me.

Doesn't matter if he was a coward or not- he says the things they are thinking... so he's their man.

I think lots if not most people poll that way.

I'm not defending Trump in the least bit here, please understand that.

But, what branch of the military did O serve in? What branch did Bill Clinton serve in? Did Reagan serve?

How's not serving working out for Hillary?

What part about being drafted makes one a better candidate for serving as president?

What part of not having served in the armed forces makes one a bad/worse candidate for being president?

As for Hillary, what part of her lying and serving herself over the years makes her a good candidate for president?

What part of the non military serving O made him a good candidate for president? Or Clinton. Or Reagan?

Are we now saying that service in the armed forces is necessary to be commander in chief? If so, why now?

Maybe lots of people do like what he's saying.

For the most part, I don't.

I don't like the lying Hillary does, has done, continues to do to this day.

By the time party elections come around, I would expect both of them to be out of the running. Trump, for his mouth. Hillary, for her lies.

Could be, but Hillary's getting in deeper and deeper over many things - mainly her lying. When push comes to shove, I think Hillary loses out based on her lies. And her "entitlement" attitude.

She's lied and cheated her way to everything she's gotten. She's a, sadly, "true politician" in todays vernacular.

She'll sell you a house today, then bulldoze it down tomorrow person. It'll all come out before the election.

Trump probably won't even make it to the election.
