Hopefully this will be a short list, but here we start: 'Browns lineman Winn hurts right knee in practice' http://sports.yahoo.com/news/browns-lineman-winn-hurts-knee-practice-171129752--nfl.htmlBy The Associated Press 6 hours ago AP - Sports BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Browns defensive lineman Billy Winn has been carted off the practice field with a potentially serious injury to his right knee. Winn got hurt during an inside running drill Saturday as the Browns practice in full pads for the first time in training camp. Coach Mike Pettine says the team will know more about the extent of Winn's injury following an MRI and X-rays. A sixth-round pick in 2012 from Boise State, Winn started five games last season. He recorded a career-high 31 tackles and an interception. In a win over Tampa Bay, Winn jumped over a Tampa Bay lineman and blocked a field goal in Cleveland's 22-17 victory. On Friday, Browns coach Mike Pettine praised Winn for a strong offseason and said the team was looking for ''big things'' from the 26-year-old. Browns running backs Terrence West and rookie Duke Johnson both sustained minor leg injuries. --- AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL

I know we gained some nice depth along the DL this offseason, but I still do not want to test it. Last year teams gashed us (especially in the second half of the season during the second halves of games) ... and it was because we had nothing along the line.
Hopefully Winn isnt too bad

We have also gone from running back being one of our deepest and strongest positions to having West, Duke and Winston all down at the moment.
I hate seeing winn injured, big fan of the guy but he has always been injury prone going back to college.

"Soon" is one of those words that can be loosely interpreted.
Soon as in a:
--day or two? --couple of weeks? --few months? --year?

Yeah... "Soon" from a doctor means a different thing from a player who tweets it from the Hospital or Ambulance or where ever he tweeted it from. I of course HOPE the best for him. And its just a sprain where we can expect him back in 6 weeks.
I know in some discussion on final Roster there were a few who were thinking Winn would end up being a tough cut this year. Although I thought if Taylor was healthy, Kitchen was the tough cut. But not to be insensitive or anything...I would Rather stash Winn on the IR than Cut him...I like him he "Plays Like a Brown"
Lighting a candle for him and a couple of My Dawgs...one serious, he is blind in one eye right now Doctors don't know from what...my youngest 19 year old RG 350 strong and athletic 6'4" hope some will put out some prayers for him! Thanks. I call him Country if you need a name. From a farm in NC and big.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

I'm not sure Winn can afford another injury prone season, and he's already starting this one out negatively.
It really sucks because I just like how the man plays when he "does" play. Very aggressive, very physical and with a lot of passion and energy.
I really do hope he'll be back soon, and he's already got the "injury bug" outta his system now.

I like Billy Winn because he makes plays - like last year when he jumped over the C-OG gap to block a field goal. Best we can hope for is a bruised knee, out for a week or two, but I admit I'm bracing for the dreaded MRI results.

Other injuries: Billy Winn, who was carted off the field on Saturday, was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. The club’s statement said Winn will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis, which sometimes suggests it could be the dread high ankle sprain. Which is still better than it first appeared ... http://espncleveland.com/common/more.php?m=49&post_id=47851

I still have a problem with Winn being declared down on that play. Ditto - should have been a TD. Instead, the Browns got a FG on the ensuing drive after the Int, and lost by 4. Although, to be fair, Cam Newton took a knee at the Browns' 12 yd line to end the game. But who knows how our defense responds if they were protecting the 17-10 lead we would have had after Hoyer's 81-yd bomb (TD) to Cameron in the 4th Qtr?

'Browns RB Duke Johnson could be out awhile with hamstring; Terrance West expected back soon with calf' http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2015/08/browns_rb_duke_johnson_could_b.htmlBy Mary Kay Cabot, Northeast Ohio Media Group on August 02, 2015 at 2:50 PM, updated August 02, 2015 at 3:18 PM Berea, Ohio -- Browns rookie running back Duke Johnson, who figures prominently in the offense this season, could be out awhile with the pulled hamstring he suffered Saturday in practice, coach Mike Pettine said. Suddenly, the Browns find themselves with a shortage of running backs at a position that was one of the deepest before camp opened. On their off day Monday, they might even added a back or two. "That certainly is the position that will probably be the first one discussed,'' Pettine said. The Browns headed into camp with six halfbacks and now they're down to two: Isaiah Crowell and Shaun Draughn. Here's the attrition lowdown: * Terrance West injured his calf Saturday, but Pettine's optimistic that he'll be back next week. "We're confident we can get Terrance back, especially just kind of butted up against the day off,'' he said. "So we feel coming back out Tuesday that Terrance will have a shot then." * Glenn Winston came into camp with a knee injury and hasn't been cleared to practice yet. He's been riding the bike and working with trainers. * Rookie Luke Lundy out of Ottawa left the field with a concussion Sunday and didn't return. The unfortunate thing with Johnson is that he's had hamstring injuries before, and they often linger or recur. He had nagging hamstring issues as a freshman at Miami and they were at least a small factor in him wanting to quit football. He also opted not to lift or run shuttles at the NFL combine in February because of a strained right hamstring. "I'll be all right,'' Johnson said Saturday after practice. "I've experienced much worse.'' Miami's all-time leading rusher, Johnson suffered a season-ending broken ankle in 2013, but didn't miss many other games because of injuries. Still, Johnson will have to take his time with the hamstring to make sure he's ready for the season. Fortunately for the Browns, Draughn has been impressive both running the ball and catching it out of the backfield, and can serve the third-down back role that Johnson excels at. Here are some quick-hitters from Day 4 of Browns training camp: * Billy Winn has been diagnosed with an ankle sprain. He'll be re-evaluated on a weekly basis. He's still listed with a knee/ankle injury, but a team spokesman said the ankle is more of an issue. * Phil Taylor, coming off knee surgery, got some work with the first team in running drills. "We're leaving that up to him,'' said Pettine. "How do you feel? Are you ready to take some reps? We'll be on his pace for a while until he gets to the point where he feels really comfortable." * Travis Benjamin, who suffered a torn ACL in 2013, made some tough catches on deep balls from Josh McCown Sunday. "He surprised all of us last year,'' Pettine said. "I think he was looked at as 'Hey, he's a returner, he's on the bubble because he's coming off a knee. How effective is he going to be?' He never got going as a returner, but he certainly showed his capability as a wide out. It was a surprise. It was a very pleasant one. "What's encouraging this year is if you talk to him and ask him, 'Hey, how do you feel compared to a year ago?' it's night and day, and that's usually true with that type of injury that it takes to that next year to really feel back to being your old self." * The defense wore orange and brown camouflage jerseys in practice yesterday after winning the competition at the end of practice Saturday. But the offense won them Saturday after Gary Barnidge beat Craig Robertson on a deep ball from McCown. "It came down to the last play, which was great,'' said Pettine. "That's what that period is for. I told them afterwards, our season will hinge on those plays – third-and-5 at the end of the game, you get a first down, you can run out the clock; if you get a stop on defense, you get a chance to win it or you can win it right there. Those are the things that we want to simulate in practice, and I was glad it came down to the last play." * Pettine took credit for the flashy orange and brown camo jerseys. "I've seen how some of you in this group dress (laughter) so I don't know if I'm going to be very open to fashion advice,'' he said. "You know who you are, too." * Other veterans resting Sunday included Donte Whitner and defensive lineman Randy Starks...offensive lineman Vinston Painter left the field with trainers and did not return. He suffered a neck injury.

bad news to hear about Duke ... seems to be a more severe injury than I thought yesterday.

I didn't know Johnson was a hamstring baby. That isn't good. Seems that guys who have the problem always have the problem. To me it is more bother than it's worth having a guy who is hurt for half of every season he plays.
I am not going to count on that guy. To bad, I had high hopes.

The second, literally the very second I start to warm up to the Johnson pick, with the thought of him being a killer change of pace/pass catching back who'll likely see duties at returner too, he goes down. Sounds a bit more serious than initially perceived.
All we can do is wait now. The wait game, we probably play that game more than most fan bases...

I've never understood all the Browns fans who were unimpressed with West/Crowell last season who want and expect Duke to be our full time starter. Duke is an undersized back, built ideally for 3rd down/change of pace. I thought I remembered durability being a big question mark as far as his scouting grades went. I'm disappointed that he's injured, but I'm not surprised. I hope the injury doesn't nag all season, but with hamstrings, it usually will....
Crossing my fingers wishing him a speedy recovery. I'm glad we have Crowell and West though, I really like both of them.

You may very well be right: Hamstring injury could be long-term issue for Browns' Duke Johnson http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasy...ns-duke-johnsonby Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com Sun, 02 Aug 2015 3:05 PM ET Browns running back Duke Johnson sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday's practice and coach Mike Pettine said Sunday that Johnson could be out for awhile, reports Cleveland.com. Johnson dealt with some hamstring issues while playing in college at the University of Miami. "I'll be all right,'' Johnson said Saturday. "I've experienced much worse.''

KI suspect that early on in camp, the slightest tightness or pulling in any player's legs gets him out of practice as a precaution.
I don't know how serious the injury to Johnson is, but I suspect that he will be held out until it is as close to completely healed as possible.

Browns' Barkevious Mingo absent from practice with knee injury, extent unknown http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2015/08/browns_barkevious_mingo_absent.htmlBy Mary Kay Cabot, Northeast Ohio Media Group on August 05, 2015 at 5:20 PM, updated August 05, 2015 at 7:36 PM BEREA, Ohio -- Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo, who's coming off a torn labrum that bothered him all last season, was absent from the practice field Wednesday with a knee injury apparently suffered in practice Tuesday. The 2013 No. 6 overall pick underwent exams Tuesday, including an MRI, and coach Mike Pettine said he'll know more Thursday. Mingo was at the Browns facility Wednesday morning when he felt some stiffness in the knee and remained inside. If he misses significant time, it will mark another setback in his young career. As a rookie, Mingo suffered a bruised lung in preseason and sat out the opener. Last year, he gutted it out through the torn labrum and played with a harness on the shoulder. He underwent surgery to repair the tear in the offseason, and was limited to 7-on-7s in a red caution jersey throughout organized team activities and minicamp. But he looked good in training camp before the knee stiffened, and he had accepted defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil's challenge to battle for playing time. "That's one of the main things the coaches this year harped on,'' Mingo said at the start of camp. "They wanted to bring in more competition at the position. We brought in guys at every position to make sure that the best players play and you can't just make your way through practices. You have to compete and earn your job. That's going to help us.'' Mingo will compete for time with the likes of Scott Solomon, who's been starting opposite Paul Kruger; and second-round pick Nate Orchard. Armonty Bryant is also a candidate for linebacker reps this year. "When we came out of training camp last year, we thought Mingo was one of our best outside 'backers,'' O'Neil said in May. "We all know about the (shoulder) injury he suffered in play two of the season. He is going to have to compete for playing time on early downs. He's going to have a role in our sub-packages. "No one is guaranteed anything on the defense. Joe Haden knows that, Donte Whitner knows that and Karlos Dansby knows that. You're going to have to earn playing time. We're deep in every position group. Mingo is going to have to come back ready to go, and he's going to have to earn it." O'Neil made it clear that Mingo's first-round pedigree wouldn't be a factor. "We don't care where you were drafted, when you were drafted, how much you're getting paid,'' said O'Neil. "The best 11 guys and the guys who earn their roles are the guys who are going to play." Mingo, who's been working mostly with the second team, is still slated for a coverage role, but hopes to get opportunities to rush the passer. First of all, though, he has to make sure the knee is right. (end)
