I don't believe in a Browns 'curse', but if I did I'd hope it is moving on to Pittsburgh...

Steelers' top picks injured during minicamp
May 11, 2007

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers' top two draft picks, linebackers Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley, were hurt Friday during the first day of a three-day minicamp and might not practice the rest of the weekend.

Timmons' groin was wrapped following the morning practice and Woodley injured a hamstring. Neither injury is believed to be serious, and both players will be re-examined before the first of two practices Saturday.

Timmons, from Florida State, was the 15th pick in last month's NFL draft. Woodley, from Michigan, was the 46th.

New coach Mike Tomlin called the injuries "typical ... of players trying to make a first impression."

The recent draft was the first in which the Steelers used their top two picks on outside linebackers. They were thin at that position after releasing former Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter, who later signed with the Miami Dolphins.

If the curse traveled to Pitt, then these are going to have to be some nagging injuries. For these guys' sake they better hope that they are healed for training camp otherwise then wont see much of the field come gameday.

I wish injuries on no one. I hope they recover and are ready for day 1. That way when we win, there are no exuses.

Ditto. I used to be thankful for injuries to rivals players because it gave us a better shot at winning. And we needed it. Hence the terrible divisional play record the last couple of years. Say what you like about not wanting to win that way, but I hate to lose more than I like to win. Winning is better then not winning. But now I don't feel we need an edge like that. I have enough confidence in our team's improvement (I know it's only on paper, but I have faith this time) that I don't feel we need injuries to weaken a team for us to beat them. We'll beat them at their best. We're The Cleveland Browns damn it! And when The Mighty Quinn is dropping bombs to The Chosen One and B-Easy we'll be injuring teams' spirit. The Browns are back baby!

Neither injury is believed to be serious

Happens to every team, every year guys get things tweaked in camp....not news. Just like the article said, guys trying to make an impression.

The title of your thread makes it seem as if they were actually injured......

This is always a potential, it happened to us for the last few years. Tweeks and pulls seem not serious but always have a chance of lingering.

Agreed. We used to call injuries like this "ghosties" because they can haunt you off and on all season. Keep tearing em up and it seemed to take longer each time. I would love to play the year without being snakebit by injuries this campaign.
Go Browns! Use the Draft, Phil! And may the Elf be with you!

I'm sure they'll be fine. This seems to me like they're ready to go full bore. Woodley and Timmons on the field at the same time on 3rd down worries me quite a bit.

But thank God Porter is gone.

Timmons' groin was wrapped following the morning practice.

1) How do you wrap a groin?
2) This goes on the list of jobs I am glad I do not have

And, on second thought, please don't tell me how one wraps a groin.

Those are NOT serious injuries and if THAT is the extent of our "curse" that has traveled to Pitt then they are lucky.

We have guys getting season ending injuries and they have guys tweaking hammys and pulling groins?

Those types of injuries stay for about as long as a week, or as long as they'll have off before preseason so for me, I'm thinking they'll be ready to go by the time the season starts easily.

Unless they have the Lee Suggs disease, these guys will be fine.

While I don't wish injury on a player, I have no reservations about playing an injured team. How many wins did we pass around the league as an injured team? It's time we get some back. A "W" is a "W" I don't care if the entire 1st string of our opponent was out. It's part of the game, all teams deal with it, and Lord knows we've had our share of injuries.

Ice bag on the groin, and a wrap going around the top of the leg around it.
