Probably not. Unless you're an avid Toledo Mud Hens fan.

This past Monday, Hessman set the all-time Minor League home run record with his 433rd Minor League homer. You know how hard that is? It's a record that is unlikely to ever be bested.

It's amazing for so many reasons:

1) The minors have a much shorter season.
2) How do you play in the minors that long? (Hessman is 37).
3) If you're that good why weren't you spending more time in the Bigs?

That is true love for playing the game.

Do you think Hessman makes $50,000/year?

I wouldn't think hitting 200 hrs in the minors would be possible ... this dude must be the best worst player in the world, if that makes sense

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

He's probably a good locker room guy and mentor. The Tigers probably figured out a while back that this guy was never MLB material... But you keep him around to help with the guys still learning the day to day grind. He's probably pretty good at hitting meatballs.

The age of career minor leaguers is a thing of the past. I know the AHL (the farm league of the NHL) only allows teams to dress 6 veterans a game. You become a veteran after a few hundred games in either major professional NA leauges, or any elite level European league. These teams want to cycle through as much talent as possible. It really sucks for the fans of teams in the AHL because there is little to no chemistry and most of your team is filled with guys who are anxious to get up. You won't see too many Reggie Dunlops skating around...

Kinda kills the fun in it. I totally understand that pro sports is completely and totally run as a business model nowadays.

All he does is hit for power. He can't play defense, he can't hit for average, and he can't get on base.

In 250 MLB plate appearances he hit .188/.272./.422. That is not good. And he played in an era when offense was booming.

He is a lot like Jim Thome, except slower, and his hands are truly made of stone. (Hence the long ball record, lol.)
