Not just record... Could be anything.
I really feel like this year the QB makes it all the way through the year and we aren't starting our 3rd string QB in week 17. I guess the catch is that the team doesn't feel pressure again to play Johnny Manziel (assuming McCown becomes starter out of camp). Last year it was to see what we had, and this year may be to see if we need to be looking next April. I really feel like we will be in the hunt most of the year for a playoff spot, so barring a Brian Hoyer-esque meltdown, McCown will play all 16 games, which I believe has only happened once since our return.
I feel like 3-3 in the division is possible this year. We seem to split with Cincinnati quite a bit. I know Pittsburgh is the trendy SB pick, but I really think we match up well with them this year. At home, against Baltimore on MNF, you have to believe guys quietly have that game circled. Baltimore has been a thorn in our side, a lot of these young guys on our team have never played MNF, and you have to think it could be one of those special nights. 3-3 would be quite acceptable for a young team trying to contend for a playoff spot. I really believe if they can split the division, they will probably be in this thing until the very last week.
We will not sign Ray Rice, but I would not be surprised to see one of these backs cut and Ray Farmer goes to find someone else.
Danny Shelton will not win DROY but will get serious votes.
Travis Benjamin could be a nice little breakout player. With a solid running attack, a speed guy who can stretch the field, and who also seems to be developing a little bit, could be a really nice weapon.

If McCown starts: 0-16.
If Manziel starts: 16-0.

Top 5 defense, and we finish 9-7, in 3rd place in the division. (and 3-3 in division play)

Finish 4-12
Spend next years draft on linemen and completely ignore skill positions again in hopes that washed up journeymen signed off the streets or UDFAs can fix it.

Our run defense will still be terrible When pettine was d coordinator for the bills he had tons of talent on that defense, especially the d line. Still they were almost dead last against the run. I truly believe that when it comes to stopping the run with a pettine defense, its not the talent that is the problem, IT'S THE SCHEME

I'll reserve a little judgment until I see us play against some other teams the next few weeks .... but, I'd almost guarantee that we win less than 6 games. Our QB, WR, and RB situations compared to other teams is pretty abysmal. It's annoying to think we have so much talent on the OL and on the defensive side of the ball ... that will probably go to waste

I'm going with a .500 season and for me .500 is 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7. In terms of success/failure I view all of them as pretty much the same because there's always 1 or 2 games that come down to the wire and could go either way.

All I will say at this point is that it's very possible to start the season 3-0.
That's as positive as I'll get right now.

Lets watch a couple preseason games first lol but right now I believe this team is capable of winning the afc north with 11 wins.
Jets are a mess Titans rookie spread QB Raiders rebuilding but will be fun to watch
Chargers arent talking about the season but about the move. Broncos are putting Manning in a scheme he has never run Ravens are the team to beat in the division
Rams are talking move to LA as well Cards game is a toss up great defense and no QB Bengals are ready to mutiny the QB
Steelers no Jauron 49ers may not win a game Seahawks game is gonna be awesome should lose it but the top 2 secondaries in all of football going head to head
Chiefs cant throw it outside the hashmarks and if we have a healthy Big Phil and Shelton stuff the line. Its gonna be a long day for the Chiefs.
I know folks are scared of this schedule but this schedule is ripe. We matchup well with the teams we play.

That's as positive as I'll get right now. I agree but I believe the Jets game will be very tough. Both teams have good defences so look for a low scoring, close game...

That's as positive as I'll get right now. I agree with this !! But in the spirit of the thread - At Jets--Win Vs. Titans--Win Vs. Raiders--Win At Chargers--Loss At Ravens--Win Vs. Broncos--Loss At Rams--Win Vs. Cardinals--Win At Bengals--Loss At Steelers--Loss Vs. Ravens--Win Vs. Bengals--Win Vs. 49ers--Win At Seahawks--Loss At Chiefs--Loss Vs. Steelers--Win 10-6. Split the teams in the division. It's not what I believe will happen but it's what I think is realistic to hope for. As has been stated ad nauseum - all depends on getting average play at QB. Drastic injuries would change everything, just like any team, but we have more depth than any year I can remember.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I say 9-7 with division tie breaker fort a wild card.
I know that I am probably wrong, but it is a giddy post on a great day, and I would rather be wrong with a blindly homering optimism. Tonight I start medicating for reality for the 2015 campaign. Might be positively wrong, but want to be positive. I magine the shock and awe if it happens . . . .

I wouldn't go to sleep on the Rams. Rams defense will give Seattle a run at top defense. Think Fisher's defense back in Tenn when Haynesworth was playing for a contract. Rams DL front four Quinn, Brockers, Donald, and Long (Fairley backup) arguably the best in the league. Don't forget bounty DC Gregg Williams is running the defense. With a healthy Bradford last two seasons, they make Seahawks earn their NFCW title. Don't forget Fisher went through a move controversy while in Houston. He'll have this team ready.

I believe the Browns win the first 3 games.
I predict the defense will have a +16 TO ratio. The Browns will have the DROY.
The Browns will have 2000+ yards rushing and passing.
The Browns will score more TD's offensively than 16 other NFL teams.
I will make it to a Cleveland home game this year.

I'm not even sure who will be the starting QB or who will be healthy going into the regular season at this point. To me it's far too early to predict our season record.
I will say that I believe Shelton will convince those who doubted him at draft time.
I look at how Tramon Williams performed last year along with Gilberts lack of improvement and predict those who dismissed the leaving of Skrine as no big deal will be changing their tune soon.
I don't see a break out RB. While this OL is great at pass blocking, the entire league knows our strategy. I don't believe our ability to run the ball is a given. Crowell is a great red zone back and has a nose for the end zone. But he's simply not an every down back.
If we can't mount a VERY solid run game, McCown will suffer greatly. The entire NFL knows this and I'm not convinced we can match up against the stacked deck we'll be seeing. When everyone knows what you plan to do, you better be great at it. I don't think we're there yet.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Hmmmm lets see.... Brand new offense with an OC that has never called the plays. Quarterback that has lost twice as many games as he's won, under 60% completions for his career. Little if any pass rush last season and no real reason to think that will change this year as we have no stud pass rushers on the team. Emotionless HC that doesn't seem capable of firing the team up when needed.... And finally a much tougher schedule than last season. I'm thinking if we win 6 games this year we will be very lucky. So 6-10 at best unless a miracle occurs and McCown turns into the next Gannon....
Without a significant increase in our pass rush and with no real QB on the roster it will be very difficult to win much this season. If we allow QB's to stand in the pocket all day long like we did last year..... a LONG season awaits.

He'll make me glad we didn't trade up for Leonard Williams? That would be just fine. But he's got to show me ON THE FIELD that at the NOSE he can take over and change our defense.

I'm guessing 5-6 wins... If we get lucky .500 ball is within grasp..No identity nor strong weapons on O, I don't think our D is going to be as good as some think...I'm not really excited about our return game...But hey I think Lee as our Punter is going to have a fine season when in doubt...Go Browns! Hopefully next year we can bolster the squad to a playoff run and get a real QB

Shelton will convince me? Cool. He'll get 12 sacks this year? If you would have asked if one of our OLB's would get 12 sacks that would be reasonable. A NT getting 12 sacks? Are you serious? He was drafted to help stop the run. For a NT he will get more penetration than many thought he would. But a 12 sack season is for OLB's, not NT's.

I just really really wanted us to get a DE that might someday get us 12 sacks a season. I do know a Nose is vital to a 3-4. We all saw what happened when RAC tried to run it without one. I just don't see where our pass rush will come from. We had squat last year. Ah well. We will see. They better get creative this year and get some pressure on the damned QB! That Houston game killed me last year.

I don't really disagree with you at all. I'd love to see Orchard be able to produce on the opposite side of Kruger but I have no idea how that will work out. I want to see a lot more pressure on opposing QB's, but have no idea where it will come from.

How well we do will depend on if we get healthy and stay that way, how well all our new players play and especially our qb's play. There are too many variables at this point. IMO we could win as few as 5 games and as many as 9 or 10.

My record prediction for the year w/o Skrine...5-11. With Skrine...5-11. This romanticizing how good Skrine is has got to stop. I've never seen a cornerback who never got his turned around...EVER...get so much praise before. It's almost as if some people will do anything to passive aggressively diss Farmer.

Why would you think a NT in a 34 is responsible for sacks?
