Browns' Terrelle Pryor, Dwayne Bowe and Duke Johnson all ruled out of Redskins game with hamstrings http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...ncart_big-photoP.S. Is Duke Johnson going to turn out to be the next Montario Hardesty (often injured/can't play)?

I think Pryor and Bowe better be careful (not sure how much dead money we'd owe if we cut Bowe)
Duke had a history of injuries and it wouldn't shock me if he wound up on the PUP list to start the year ... Hardesty, Suggs, etc

He needs reps and he needs tape of him as a wide receiver. Bowe is safe because of the salary we are paying him and we already know what he can do as a wide receiver.

I think they both can/could play, just a total failure at staying healthy enough to play. It's becoming clear why the other teams let Duke drift so low. Curious what team and where would've took the risk on Duke if we hadn't.

$9 million of Bowe's $12.5 million two year deal is guaranteed, so... yeah, he's making the 53.

For some players, once the frequent injuries start, they never seem to end.

I'm not sure he was down that much.. I recall a head injury against NC and his Ankle against Florida State...
Now this hamstring injury... I somewhat question the trainer on the hamstring situations here in Cleveland.
It's been discussed, will have to wait and see how prepared they are for opening day

As a canes fan...I watched a little more of Lamar Miller at the U, but Duke Johnson is the reason Lamar Miller left early as he knew he was going to lose carries to the Duke...Two facts I will give you...Lamar Miller has better straight line speed and will play with and through more injuries than Duke...Duke is really talented don't get me wrong...But as a U fan I actually liked Tevin Coleman over him as a 3rd round back...though Coleman went several picks ahead of us...Duke did alot in college, but Lamar Miller also played through a seperated shoulder his entire junior season with a mere pad over it...I advocated for Lamar Miller...Duke can do alot but play on game day through an injury I think not.

I agree w/this take. I tried saying something similar on one of the draft threads, but I was deemed a "hater." Imagine that. LOL.
Duke plays hard. He is a good player. But, he is always kinda dinged up. The NFL is much more physical and more of a grind than college. Those factors worried me a bit in regards to his availability.
Oh, this will probably receive a reply from someone about my agenda and me being a bully and what's wrong w/being a homer, blah, blah, blah and then someone will say can we talk some football here? LOL........

good to know that.. thank you Anytime man...I really hope Duke can stay healthy as I think TWest is mediocre and is more Daniel Thomas esque than anything...I hope Crowell and Duke can be our one and two punch, definitely going to need a good ground game to do any advancing... Idk why but Duke kinda reminds me of Joeseph Addai in some ways...but I would love nothing more than for him go stay healthy and be a huge part of our future

This isn't a knock on Duke at all, but he doesn't remind me of Addai at all. I'm curious about the comparison.....

okay lets talk about the comparison... what was it you were able to see ? Being down in SC did you get to see Duke ?
It would be nice to have a guy who can be compared with guys like Mitchell, Moore and Dickerson.
Help me out here and give me some some facts.. I'm interested in a guy like him who can get over injuries and make it happen or not

Oh, this will probably receive a reply from someone about my agenda and me being a bully and what's wrong w/being a homer, blah, blah, blah and then someone will say can we talk some football here? LOL........ I always try to steer away from projects and injury ridden players...just the notion that once you have the injury bug you normally can't shake it...specially in a RB who easily takes more punishment as they are continually getting wrecked...Sometimes an injury prone player defies odds and becomes a top echelon back...but more than not they continue the trend, and their injured body slows them down several huge degrees. I just think Duke reminded me of Addai which I know is odd and not normally what the media and others would tell you...But both were/are shifty backs with more given power than you'd imagine, but lacked elite speed, both have/had hands out of the backfield, vision for the cut back lane, and sported nagging injuries...similar frames if I remember (I know Addai is probably an inch taller and perhaps built more muscle in the NFL...but I'm sure Duke will too) Addai would have been alot better if not for injuries that hindered...I hope Duke avoids the bug and can have a healthy career with us...Tired of having mediocre backs, though those nagging injuries could be an issue...why I think he dropped a round, I still think he'll be better than Yeldon whom Jacksonville high in round 2.

Marshall FAulk is the closest big name type comparison but the hammy stuff has been a consistent problem with him. When healthy he is putting up insane numbers.

For the record, Duke had a whopping one injury in college for which he missed any games. There's three guys who are out for this PRESEASON game with hamstring injuries, and people are already starting to write him off as a Suggs / Hardesty bust.

Has anyone been able to decipher the seriousness of Bowe's injury? Is he just getting the "vet" treatment in camp by sitting out? Or is he really injured ... or is he milking it?
I can't read the situation, but it wouldn't shock me if he turns into this year's Burleson and gets cut ... I don't know if we owe him any money if we cut him before week 1

For some reason the other Hammy's are little tweeks and the guys will be back.
From all that I have read Dukes seems to be a little more - hope it didn't get to OFF THE BONE stuff...cause that is bad.
I would like to see him healed up and playing. It will be much easier to judge him. But a kid with his talent there is a reason why he was available where he was. The Risk on him I guess was Injuries.
Has he been on the Bike? or hidden the Trainers room?
Oh and Vers, very mature of you

Help me out here and give me some some facts.. I'm interested in a guy like him who can get over injuries and make it happen or not I am not exactly sure what you are asking/saying. You aren't comparing him w/Eric Dickerson, are you? They are way different types of backs. I'll try to answer your questions, but again, I am not sure of their context... --I saw a guy who has good hands, has good moves, runs hard, is fairly elusive, comes out of games because he wears down at times or gets nicked-up. --I saw Duke play quite a few times. Not sure if being in SC had anything to do w/it. There are a ton of college games on TV these days. --Facts? What do you mean by facts? Are you talking about his numbers? You can google those for yourself, right? I can offer my opinion. I just didn't get the Adai comparison. tru later explained his reasoning and he is a logical guy. I still don't see those two guys as very similar, but that's just me. I was simply trying to discuss football. Hope that's okay? --Here is who I think Duke compares to. Not sure I can spell his first name, but it's something like Giovanni Bernard. Played at NC and now is w/the Bengals. Good hands. Shifty. More powerful than you would think. --I could stretch it and say that Duke is a poor-man's Shady Mccoy. They are similar, but I think McCoy stays on the field more than Duke. There are some similarities to guys like Sproles, CJ Speiler, and maybe even Reggie Bush. I am not saying he will end up as good as any of those guys, but I would classify in that type of a back.

Browns QB Connor Shaw sustains thumb injuryBEREA, Ohio -- In Thursday night’s preseason opener, Cleveland Browns QB Connor Shaw sustained an injury to his thumb that will require surgery. Shaw completed 5 of 10 passes for 64 yards in the contest. He is expected to miss an extended period of time.“I feel for Connor because he has worked extremely hard,” said Browns head coach Mike Pettine. “He's a competitor and has had a great offseason and a good camp so far. He is good for the quarterback room and it's unfortunate that this injury won't allow him to compete.” Link

Shaw out for the year most likely. I definitely think we keep just 2 QBs now ... and Grossi believes this enhances Pryor's chances to make it as well

He is expected to miss an extended period of time. I wonder if this will impact whether TP makes the team as the third QB/WR?

I don't understand why many keep suggesting Pryor as a QB. He was not brought here for that, and is not learning the offense as a QB.
