GOOD LORD!!!! To not hear the complete interview and only points taken to make ones personel perspective and slant....some of you so called "best fans in football".....quickly throw a guy under the bus faster than you all say Braylon does is pitifull. Braylon has a big mouth and definately the gift of gab and he also came back last year WAY to quick (8 games to quick) because he want to compete and win, not to mention he is still learning his self and even admits his shortcoming but still shows no lack of work ethic to improve his game nor his image. The Kid is busting his but and you all only see what you want to see. GIVE THE KID A BREAK!!!! I can see who needs to shut up. Some of you guys disgust me and before you reply...I know you dont care what i think and i know this is a board to vent and post your thoughts....SOOOOO........ I POSTED MINE AS WELL!!!!!!
You dont have to win every game just the next one!

Ah,yet another excuse fo immaturity? Another "excuse" for tantrums on the sideline? Another excuse for dropping so many he didn't break 1000?
Excuses are all you guys have. I don't care where's he's from. I care about where he's at. I'm not childish enough to give a damn where he went to school.
I just want him to earn his damned paycheck and grow the hell up.

Pit If you had listened to the entire interview and not what the post showed....It was a great interview. This post is about the listed interview...so when you say he needs to grow up and play to his potential....and for now we are in the offseason so all he can do is work on growing up...and this interview is a great leap in the right direction. As for his ball playing....THAT will have to wait for a few months.
You dont have to win every game just the next one!

He led the team in receiving yards, are you the only one who doesn't realize how bad the offense was in general and he led that horrible offense in receiving yards, drops were his main issue, imagine if he had only dropped 5, maybe thats another 50-100 yards that he gets and he almost does break 1,000... I remember being happy if he was going to come back after the Bye...

No, we have opinions, and in our opinion people make Braylon out to be 10x worse of a bad guy than he actually is... I remember when he said something like "I would never want to be hit like CJ got hit by Russell" yet everyone flipped out on him! Would you want to get hit like that? I remember complaining all year about how bad our offensive line is and on top of that when they gave Frye time he had no idea what to do with it, yet when Braylon stands up for his QB, everyone bashes him, PRICELESS. Are players not allowed to get fired up? Jesus I know I get mad at teammates when they consistently mess up, and if I mess up I expect to hear it from them, anger is one of the best motivators out there, if it's a coach or a teammate bashing you whats the difference? Both want to win, and I guarantee you both expect to be criticized if they fail.

Reasonable, but he was a top 30 receiver last year, and he came back from a torn ACL.

Not our fault people like to bash the players on the team and twist everything to make them look like Satan.

And let's go over this again...
-Torn ACL, you know as well as I do it takes 2 years to fully recover, he came back in September from an ACL he tore in December! And as a receiver, his recovery was more impressive than Carson Palmer's. -Bad offensive line -Bad runningback to run behind bad offensive line, therefore no running game. -God awful QB who stared down his receivers, wouldn't hang in the pocket for the life of him, and didn't spread the ball around enough. Who also was behind a bad offensive line.
Savage even said it best, receiver is the last link in the chain to an offense. Does that excuse his route running or drops? Absolutely not, he needs to be held accountable for that. But to say "He didn't go over 1000 yards" as a bit of a blanket statement. So many factors have to go a receiver's way to have a good season. Needless to say, he hasn't really had a chance given how bad our offense was across the board.
When every single unit of the offense around you is terrible (especially the line but especially the QB at the same time), wouldn't the last link in the chain feel the effect? A receiver can only do so much when the factors around him are rubbish. Likewise, some receivers look better when the parts around them are good. (see: those New England jokes last year, Tom Brady made them look respectable)
I don't buy into BS, but as a marketing major with a PR background I know how important it is to do PR for yourself. Braylon is looking for star power and marketing opportunities, and if he produces on the field those will come. I don't see the problem with it since if I were a football player I'd be doing the same thing.

10 wins would be great and all.
BUT I wish Edwards would keep his freakin' mouth shut for once. He's already in hot water as far as I'm concerned over what he pulled last season. His statement that he made in this article just shows me that he is picking up where he left off last season. He needs to learn to sit down and shut up.
A real professional keeps their mouth shut and lets their actions speak for themselves.

I'm not trying to bash him for this interview. And you can say what you like,Edwards has NO business throwing a tantrum on the sidelines. It's not professional,it's childish! It's immature! IMO- He's got a LOT to prove on the field. A LOT! I'm hoping that will happen. But MY opinon is...............untill he "proves it on the field" I'm not buying into "The feel good BS". I hope these aren't "empty words" like we hear from so many athletes. But the fact of the matter is,he's proven his "immaturity" on the field. ie......Not knowing WHERE TO LINE UP,not running to the proper spots, running the wrong routes., Now what in the hell does that have to do with your ACL? Lining up in the wrong spot? That's not knowing the playbook. Running the wrong routes? That has nothing to do with your ACL. Once again, that's not doing your homework. Now I can sit here and talk about being the greatest bass fisherman of all time. I can sit here and "say" just the right things. But what does that have to do with tournament time? Nothing. If I haven't done my homework on the lake I'm fishing,it means nothing. So what do I want? I want to SEE him lining up in the right place. ie....Learn the DAMN playbook! I want to SEE him run the right routes. CONSISTANTLY! ie.....Learn the DAMN playbook! I want to see him catch the DAMN ball when it hits him in the hands! ie.......Do your DAMN job! When I see him Do his DAMN job? I'll Listen to what he saysBecause untill he learns to live up to his responsibilities ON THE FIELD his words mean nothing. You don't build a Rep. on words. You build a Rep. by your play, then you speak. In case you guys missed it,he's trying to do it backwards. You lead by "example",not by talking. It's really time people wake up to that fact. And Soup? Accepting the mediocrity Braylon has displayed on the field to this point is accepting losing. Expecting a man to step up to the plate, live up to his potential and becoming a team player is striving for success. Should have expected you'd get that part backwards too. I want to see his maturity, not hear about it. Because he's already shown his words and actions have been two completly different things to this point. When I SEE it,I'll know it. But hearing it without seeing it? Sorry,I'll leave that to you guys.

Lets compare
Cle QBs (Frye, Anderson) Total passing yards: 3247 Edwards 61/884yds Winslow 89/875 Jurevicious 40/495
NO QBs (Brees, Martin) Total Passing Yards: 4626 Colston 70/1038 Henderson 32/745 R.Bush 88/742
Indy QB (Manning) Total Passing Yards: 4397 Harrison 95/1336 Wayne 86/1310 Utecht 37/377
Non-Playoff team, Non-Probowl QBs, Non-Probowl WRs
yet they aren't really that far off the mark when you consider the playoff teams and probowl QBs had 1000 to 1400 more yards.
So is it all Edwards fault he fell short of 1000 yards?
And it's not like we had a run game to open up the long play or the play action, so most of ours pass plays were short. Even though Edwards did end up with a 14.5 avg, to Harrisons 14.4 avg and Colstons 14.8 avg
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

That's the best you could come up with?
When in doubt......when put behind the eight-ball and pinned down.......spin. *L*
I'll show you EXACTLY where you said you applauded Braylon for his tandrem.
You show me EXACTLY where I said what you suggested.
Want to go down that road? I don't think so. You know better.

Don't try and make this into an arguement that makes you look right. You were wrong. DEAD wrong. You got called on it and I've never said a word about winning or losing.
Take it up with someone less astute. You've attempted (and failed) to make this into winning and losing. That isn't the point, and wasn't my point. I'm not letting you spin this into something else.
Edwards isn't a team leader. Edwards isn't the guy to be making sideline tantrums and statements. Team leaders do that. Not guys that have a history of missing meetings, of throwing ill-advised tantrums, of making negative statements to the press, and pointing fingers at other teammates when his own house isn't in order.
Want to know the RIGHT answer? I give you this from Jobeincasa:
Quote:
Exactly. Think about it:
Who was more reliable, Joe J or Braylon? Who was more professional, Joe J or Braylon? Who was a team player and a leader, Joe J or Braylon? Who has never criticized his teammates in public, Joe J or Braylon? Who admitted it when he had a bad game or dropped passes, Joe J or Braylon?
Now, who is better suited to comment on the team and give interviews?
Who should shut the ___ up?

In the eyes of who? I look at our team right now and he's definitely pretty high up there on the list considering he was the most productive offensive player on our roster. I can think of maybe 2 others on the offensive side that could have even made claim to it. Whether you LIKE him or not, he's one of the main faces of our franchise.

Being a "face of the franchise" isn't near the same thing as being a "team leader."
Truth be told, we don't have a "face of the franchise." The closest thing we have to that is.........hold onto your seat...........Brady Quinn. Edwards is known more for his moodiness, tardiness, and tantrums than he is for his play on the field.
Production doesn't make you a leader. Jamal Lewis was never a leader for the Rats despite one of the few 2000 yard seasons in the history of the league.
This isn't about production. This isn't about name recognition. This is about whether or not Edwards is a leader of the team.
Soup wants to applaud the guy because he wants to win Here's a bet for anyone who's willing to take it: Show me just one player in the HISTORY of the NFL who said he doesn't want to win
Team leaders are guys that lead by example, that set good examples, that stand up and admit mistakes (on the rare occasion that a team leader actually does make a mistake), that don't throw people under the bus.
There were a lot of years where Jeff George, Randy Moss, Plexico Burress, and Mike Vick have led their teams in terms of face recognition and production. As you noted, it's not whether or not you like any of those players.
They weren't team leaders either, and it's not their place to stand up and take the mic.

If he wants to win maybe he should study his playbook more as well as catching the ball when it hits him.

To add an addendum to what I said, I've always applauded how hard Edwards worked to get back on the field, but this isn't about that.

I have no problem with what he said.. yea it might have been nice to include himself directly in the reasons the offense struggled.. but big deal.
As for people shutting up until we win... Nope... talk it, show some confidence, have the guts to predict big things BEFORE they actually happen... Anybody can do the talk show circuit after a 12 win season... go out after a 4 win season and talk about how much you've improved and how excited you are to play next year... good for him. He's excited about the coaching changes, he's excited about the system, he's excited about the player additions...
I'm glad somebody on this team is starting to show a little life.. this team has had ZERO attitude, ZERO swagger, ZERO toughness, ZERO confidence... for as long as I can remember...
So now somebody speaks up and talks about being excited about making bold predictions about showing some confidence and most of the people here just want to tear him down and rip the life right out of him... THAT is a losers mentality.
Trust me when I tell you, Braylon Edwards knows what is expected of him when he steps on the field this year.. y'all arm chair quarterbacks do NOT need to remind him of that... and if he has a lousy year I'll be the first to hold him accountable and I'll roll this up and feed it to him... but for now, it's about freakin' time somebody in this organization went out on a limb and showed some excitement about actually getting better as a team...
I'm sure some of you will bookmark this and bring it up the first time he drops a pass... but oh well, you'll always have those people...

Ok...take away stats...how bout Football? Our Offense Sucked in its execution especially in its Run Game considering the Run Game was the primary goal and primarily due to bad OL play.
We didn't have the ball as much as other teams... We didn't move the chains. We didn't have flow.
I don't see how any young skilled player could shine in that environment...not to mention the OC and OL coach fighting each other when both have to be in Sync.
Was BE the cause? Was BE the catalyst of the negative Offense?
I think not.
He's a young veteran that is high profiled - so he made an interview. As in my previous post I saw nothing wrong or egotistical about it.

But what does that have to do with; a. Not catching passes (doing his damn job) b. Not KNOWING your assignment! (route running) c. Acting like a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum on the sideline. d. Placing ALL of the blame on others, yet accepting none himself? (immaturity) These are things we want to see changed We want to see him be a "part of the solution" rather than "part of the problem". Untill that time,IMO,he has no business doing a lot of talking. Was he the entire problem? Well of course not. But he wasn't part of the solution either. It's not like we can "hold him up as an example" for his team mates to follow. When he discusses the shortcomings of others without including himself? Well,it just shows that he stil "don't get it". Hopefully that will change. But pointing out the deffincies of others in order to excuse his actions? Well YUCK! That's just so "Braylonlike"!

i just hope for his sake that he also will adress the team issues like being late for meetings, going to the osu/ mich game when told not to by a vet, criticizing one of his teammates for a hit that was completely fair said even by the guy who took the shot. things like that are what upset me more. i understand the will to win, and if he meant these things, then by all means be the guy who is leading by (proper) example and is the hardest worker on the team. having confidence and an I won't lose attitude is good, but he better back it up, b/c after this, there's no turning back and i think he will get thrown under the bus if he hasn't learned from the last year and grown up.

Not catching passes...all I will say about that cause I know its excuses.
I did notice especially early on he seemed tentative - alligator arms.
But as the season went on and he felt more and more Confident about his knee the drops oddly disappeared. You got to give him the factor that he was coming off a serious knee injury and he had no pre-testing - his first live action was Game #1.
Acting like a kid ranting. That looked bad, worse yet it was the only national coverage we got all year! But after all was said and done he wasn't going after Frye as it appeared - he was yelling at the OL about keeping CF's jersey clean...heck so was I...weren't you too? He took heavy damage as the media broadcast it as if he was dissing CF and going after him. Yeah he lost it. But nowhere as bad as it was presented. And nothing close to a ME ME ME situation many portray here.
Not knowing your assignment...I'm sure he had problems he's in year two but quite frankly the only recorded evidence of that is from Versatile Dawg saying that over n over n over again.
Placing all the blame on others...well according to who...Deepsouthdawg said he heard the entire interview and it was different then some portrayed. Did you listen to the entire interview? That is what you got from it? Asking not debating as I didn't hear the interview just the accounts of it from posts.
Immature...sad but true that what you get when all your Stud picks are out of football since 99. You got your 2nd year player as the leader. We were young people only listen to the FB Smiths for so long. They look up to the stud talents we draft. As mentioned KW2 seems intense on the game day and very humbled by his experience as he knows his knee is hanging on a thread.
Wimbley is like quiet n soft spoke so is Frye. BQ needs a season or two but he's got the gift to gab and got the face time. Hey...its BE he's a product of the NON-Star environment we have created here over the years. There is a BIG VOID.
Its shouldn't be handled by the 2nd year player...but it did.

I find it a bit ironic that I'm defending a prima-donna WR,but what's right is right. Judging by most of the the comments, very few of you actually heard the entire interview with Adam Schien and Randy Cross. It was exceptional.BE came across as a caring and intelligent young man.Yes,he talked about his drops anf poor route running,he took full blame for the drops, saying he needed to improve his concentration. The route running,he kinda sluffed that off. He didnot throw his teammates,or former coaches under any bus.The interviewers tried to get him to say something negative about Mo and Davidson, but he only talked about how good the new coaches are going to be. To some of you, nothing is going to matter, you're minds are made up.You will take a small snippet, remove it from it's context, and bash the man who said it.That's fine.I found it enjoyable to listen to an intelligent, articulate, athlete talk about the Browns.

Just clickin.... Here's an article on the official browns site about how much of a jerk Braylon is.... Quote:
Edwards gives back - in a big way Staff report 05.14.2007 Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards knows it is better to give than to receive. Through his ADVANCE 100 Program, an education initiative of the Braylon Edwards Foundation (BEF), Edwards has pledged $1 million in academic scholarships to the Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD). One hundred eighth grade students from CMSD will be offered scholarships toward college tuition upon their graduation from high school.
Edwards, along with City of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, CMSD CEO Dr. Eugene Sanders and the 100 students chosen to participate in the ADVANCE 100 program will be part of a special assembly at Lincoln-West High School on Wednesday.
"Braylon is not only investing the in the future of these 100 children by providing them with the incentive to succeed, but he is investing in the city of Cleveland," said Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel. "We are proud of his commitment to education and the youth of this community."
Program participants are required to maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or better and to accumulate at least 15 hours of community service each year, while displaying exemplary citizenship and conduct. They will not be allowed any unexcused absences. In an effort to equip participants for success, the program will provide mentoring and tutoring. ADVANCE 100 members, teachers and counselors will receive incentives and awards for their participation and support. Participating students' progress throughout high school will be closely monitored by BEF and the Cleveland Scholarship Program (CSP).
Edwards, in his third year in the NFL, is no stranger to philanthropy. Last year he announced a $500,000 scholarship endowment fund for college players who earn the distinction of wearing the University of Michigan's No.1 football jersey.
"The fundamentals of success can only be achieved through a quality education," said Edwards. "I am fortunate to be in a position where I can give back to create opportunities for young people."
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=6800
Giving back to the community, what a jerk.....We all know where he can stick his money, that smack talkin, alligator arm'n, bum.
No really guys, I gotta say Braylon can talk too much, show up late at a meeting and leave Cleveland in a helicopter to see his alma mater, and he certainly didn't flash greatness last season.
But that was coming off an injury. It's nice to see some good things said about him on the official website (which loves their puff pieces). but i hope next year if he produces everyone doesn't hate on him so much. I really don't mind Edwards that much, and i think he has a lot of talent. When he chewed out the O-Line, I can't blame him that much. We all do it at the television every single week.
Fact is here's an article showing what a good thing he did. 1 million dollars is a lot of money, even to Braylon Edwards. Can anyone complain about this?
Honestly, i think Braylon is gonna be a lot better this year. Hopefully he'll catch more passes cause we can really use it.
But that being said, everyone exagerates how bad Edwards was. He's certainly our best reciever and the one with the most upside. He has great playmaking ability as well as fluidness and quickness. He's definitely better than Joe Jurevicious.
So I'm giving Braylon the benefit of the doubt this season and waiting to see what he can do. KW2 did it last season, may be Edwards will pull it together this season.

Once again I'm amazed. This board is supposed to be full of Browns fans, instead it's full of people who love seeing a team lose year after year.
I'm amazed that you can't tell the difference. Wanting a "team player" instead of a "TO Wannabe" has nothing to do with "love seeing a team loose year after year". It's expecting "professionals",to act like adults, not spoiled brat,8 year olds. Big difference.

Everyone against Braylon's comments are, no doubt, against players who want to win. You don't understand anything about competition,
If you want to win? ACT like it ON the field! Don't TALK ABOUT IT then play "I don't know where the hell to line up" on game day. Run your routes right,shut-up and SHOW what you got, don't talk about it. Talk's cheap, his salary is high. Quit letting his BS impess you and expect him to produce. Since when has throwing temper tantrums and blaming everyone else for your OWN shortcomings become an admirable trait in society? When has "refusing to man up" became impressive? I guess the naive may see it that way.

nor about a torn ACL or dislocated finger nor about media and interviews. Nothing at all. How some of you get through life is beyond me.
Look in the mirror Bud. You're the one who more impressed by "words than deeds". It's easy to get played as the sucker when you think like that.
A #3 overall draft pick who can't catch for a 1000 yards? And some are "impressed by his mouth and his tantrums"? I think we are witnessing a new qlique forming as we post. Or is it a cult................
BBB - Blinded By Braylon
Edwards had 8 drops on the year.
http://stats.nypost.com/fb/leaders.asp?year=2006&range=AFC&type=Receiving&rank=232
He would have had to average 14.5 YPC on those 8 to hit 1000 yards recieving which he did average on the year. He'd have hit 1000 yds on the nose. Was 8 drops too many? Yep, TO dropped 17, Wayne dropped 8, Holt and Harrison each dropped 7. No one cathces everything. Take his drops to 2 and he still doesn't reach 1000 yds.

So then the Browns shouldn't allow anyone to be interviewed? BQ hasn't done anything on the field - therefore - no interviews. edwards drops too many passes, therefore - no interviews, Wimbley isn't good enough against the run, therefore no interviews. See where I'm going with this?
People complain that he didn't talk about his drops. Well, it was noted by posters that heard the interview that he talked both about his drops and wrong routes. That takes that argument away.
People said he should have talked about what he was going to do this year. Well, step back for a minute - those people yelling about him if he did that - would be saying how he's not a team player, leader and he's selfish.
He gets asked what a successful year is to him. He answers with 10-6. What should he have said? Be a PR person, how would you have guided him knowing in PR that the interviewer will badger him into a record "prediction" for success. Give your answer -- this part is directed at everyone.

general reply
I am not an Edwards fan and right now he has lived up exactly to my expectations but this interview, he sounded much more mature than i have seen him and he gave honest straight forward answers. I think we are just used to butch blowing smoke up our backside and romeo giving a 30 minute interview without ever giving an intelligent answer about anything.
Frye did seem like a QB that was way over his head but it was a bad situation. Romeo hasnt done anything and its true he wasnt given much. The O hung our D out to dry all year. Remember #1 in starting field position and last in almost every offensive category.

Soup, are you telling us we should be happy with Braylon and keep our mouths shut? Lets face it, he is a #3 pick that is afraid to go over the middle, drops to many passes, doesn't fight for the ball, lacks concentration, throws his team mates under the bus, late for meetings, and on and on. I can understand Ammo thinking he is really cool and its all Charlie's fault but you should realize that players screw up and we bitch. Braylon was next to the o-line the biggest problem on the offense.

Maurice Carthon Reuben Droughns Shaffer Druzzi Fraley Coleman Tucker Northcutt Edwards
So he was 9th biggest problem on the O side (8th player wise)
Winslow Smith Frye
You have a problem with that?

While you want a player catchin 100 balls for 1000 yards i want a team that can win 10 games...or a team that can at least beleive it can win 10 games....that starts with players beliving they can....you cannot deny the fact that BE is a gifted player at WR and can do good things(can being the key word...will he? we shall see) i always think the player should do his talking by playing and doing the right things....but you can't hate on BE for being different.......i don't think he puts his foot in the mouth everytime he talks...most of the time it's just brutal honesty..if you can't handle it...then too bad

j/k I'm convinced that it doesn't matter what he says or does some on here will find fault in it. I've said before that BE has his problems. Both on the field and off but this is the second time in just a couple of days that I've seen an article posted where the guy said all the right things and still someone came on and found something to bitch about. You guys are reminding me a lot of the people on the official board.

Eotab...I could not have said it beter myself. I think many like to bash BE just for the sake of complaining. Honestly, most have expected too much out of him behind such an anemic offense. The bottom line is that he wants to win. How refreshing. I'll take the attitude of Edwards who isn't satisfied with mediocrity vs. someone like an Andruzzi who doesn't complain or speak up, but his play actually hinders the team, but says all the "right things." Bottom line, BE has put his foot in his mouth, but he is learning and I am glad he is part on the team.

Totally agree.
I mean, Braylon might not have shown up this year to our expectations, but he came back from injury early and was certainly our best reciever.
I expect more out of him next year. And if he does perform, i hope that everyone on this board stops bashing the guy. Cause my only issue with him is that he just hasn't performed like a number 1 reciever should yet. Although i don't think he neccessarily has been given that opportunity in a correctly functioning offense. I beleive the WR is more of an effect than a cause. Thus better O-Line and QB play will help Edwards out big time.
So if he does well next year AKA 1200 Yards and 10 TDs. I hope that everyone gets off his back. Cause if he produces, i have no problems with anything he does off the field. As i feel that that is blown way out of proportion.
There are many more recievers whom are much more obnoxious. They're put in positions where they can produce.
It just seems like we're trying to crucify Edwards as one of our bad players on the team. Well there's nobody to replace him because he's better than all our other recievers and is certainly our 2nd best offensive player. KW2 being number 1. Point being, Braylon wasn't a problem last year, that's for sure.
Let's at least give Braylon that one.

Exactly, everyone is quick to point out how much stronger athletes come back their 2nd year from an ACL injury, but are quick to forget about that when it comes to BE. He comes back earlier than expected and most expect him to perform like Marvin Harrison. Not to mention the change in OCs.
He's the best WR we have (I'm not considering KW2) and not many other options.

Team leaders are guys that lead by example, that set good examples, that stand up and admit mistakes (on the rare occasion that a team leader actually does make a mistake), that don't throw people under the bus.
So do people who want to win...hehehe I hope this kid proves me wrong, but I got a bad feeling we wasted a # 3 pick on him.............had it since we drafted him, and he hasn't made it go away.

-Bad OC -Bad OL -Bad running game -Bad QB
-And the ACL thing you mention.
Given that WR's are the last link in the chain, and indeed are more of an effect to a good offense than a cause, it's ludicrous to throw a receiver going into his third year under the bus.
I'll betcha if he went to a team with an established offense and established QB, we'd be talking about him as a breakout star. Having never played QB or receiver, I'm not sure how often receivers get open and how much is up to the QB to a) have time and b) be able to make the right decision and the accurate throw. But I truly think Braylon's only gonna benefit from having a better QB with Quinn and a better O-line, running game and offensive in general around him. He just needs someone to get him the ball. #9 can't do that effeciently. I truly think he was open more than the ball was given to him.
As I've said repeatedly, it does NOT excuse his attitude issues or his drops or whatever route problems he had (which we can only believe based on what we hear, since we don't have the exact route assignment in front of us...not saying I don't believe it though).
But to throw Braylon under the bus for his performance the past two years is ludicrous given all the circumstances. Look at how he's performed compared to the top 10 players in that '05 draft...Edwards is there with the best, if he's not THE best.
Before anyone says "We should have taken Merriman." Remember, he's had some "help."
I think he finally gets it.

As for people shutting up until we win... Nope... talk it, show some confidence, have the guts to predict big things BEFORE they actually happen...
I'm going on the assumption that you're speaking in general terms and not to me directly, as I'd.......again........point out that showing confidence isn't where my problems (plural) lie with Edwards.
Now what I won't do is say "Hey! It's a brand new season! All sins are forgiven! Everyone gets a clean slate!" Because that's a load. I'm glad he's confident but I'm not enamoured with how he's carried himself since the day he got here (nor during his time at Michigan, going by all the reports). He does need to mature, and after two years of this act, he's got something to disprove before he gets the optimistic golf clap from me.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

First of all, I tore my ACL, so I do know something about it. Secondly, why would I want players who don't want to win? ARe you saying Joe J doesn't want to win? I'm glad braylon wants to win. What he is doing, however, is creating division in the locker room, which doesn' thelp winning. If he wants to win, he should shut up and practice until he is perfect and makes the pro bowl. Then he can talk.

Before i go to bed:
I like braylon. I think he's got fire and talent. I'm really impressed with the way he came back from his injury. He's got a great future, and I hope it's with this team. In fact, I remember telling toad at one point to go easy on him, because I thought he'd learned from his mistakes and was maturing.
My problem with BE, in this interview, was that he was criticizing his teammates. It doesn't matter whether he was right or not. In fact, he WAS right about most of it. Just like he was right when he grabbed charlie's jersey and was ranting because the oline wasn't protecting him. That's not the point.
The point, is that he has to learn to do what is best for his team. Not just on the field, but off it. what do you think those comments just did to the trust between he and charlie? I hate to break it for everyone, but Quinn isn't the starter right now, and may not be for a while. And already he's making a comment that puts Quinn above Frye.
If he has a problem with Frye, the Oline, the Coach, he takes that up in the locker room with the team leaders. Period. He can talk to the press when he retires.
TO wants to win. He's competitve and talented. He's also destroyed the locker room chemistry of two teams. I don't want him on my team, becuase despite his talent, he actually makes the TEAM worse.

"I saw some growth, but I still saw a kid that was coming from an Akron or a [Mid-American Conference] school and didn't necessarily have the knowledge or preparation of a Brady Quinn-type of collegiate QB.
Braylon seems to understand more than most of you do. I could'nt have said it better!
Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!
