Look, this post isn't about greed. Spielberg donates TONS of money to charities and such, so i really don't care what he does with his money. he earned it.

I'm just trying to figure out how a 282 foot yacht is somehow not big enough. Who is riding with you? You holding a G-20 summit on there or something? jeez.... pics are in the link.

Anyway, everybody(ok, most) dudes dream about owning stuff like this. I know i didn't grow up with a poster of a Prius in my room. i grew up with a million dollar McLaren on my wall. but man.....the boat has like 3 stories, and a pool...in the ocean...

You can charter The Seven Seas, Steven Spielberg's 282-foot mega-yacht, for $1.2 million a month.

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is in need of a bit more space while traversing the oceans.

He's selling his yacht, The Seven Seas, which he purchased for approximately $184 million, because the 282-foot vessel is just not enough boat for him, according to the Daily Mail.

"Steven didn’t realize how much he’d enjoy cruising the ocean. Now he’d like to spend more time exploring the seas, and bring a few friends along for the ride. So he’s upgrading to a bigger yacht," a friend of the director's told the Daily Mail.

Built by Dutch shipbuilding company Oceanco, The Seven Seas is packed with amenities. An infinity pool, 15-foot glass movie screen, helicopter pad, gym, spa, and massage room are just a few of the luxuries that are reportedly onboard.
As for accommodations, there's one master suite, two VIP suites, two double bed cabins, and one cabin with a twin bed. In total, the yacht can sleep 12.

Spielberg is currently chartering out the massive yacht to the tune of $1.2 million a month — making it one of the most expensive charters in the world, the Daily Mail reports.

His new yacht will be a mere 18 feet bigger, reaching the coveted 300-foot threshold and costing a cool $250 million to build.

Spending money just to spend money . Someone has to be the standard bearer for the 1% . I'm actually upset with myself that I took the time to view the pics .

You know, I've always known about the 'bigger is better' mentality... I just never understood it. I guess I just found other things more interesting than 'stuff.'

I didn't say freaking. And my enthusiasm was genuine.

That reminds me of the Mitt Romney meme where he was asked what people should do in a pending weather disaster and he said, "just jump into your jet and fly to one of your other homes".

That was my thought. I don't think he really wants it "bigger" as much as he wants it designed differently.... However, keep in mind, that while it sleeps 12, that's guests. It's also housing a crew of probably 20.

But I say good for him. If I had that kind of money, I'd do stuff like this too. He's keeping an ton of ship builders, crew, etc employed while he gets to have a grand ol' time.

I just wish he would return my calls.

Depending on how and where on the boat this will be incorporated, 18 feet long, by 30 feet wide, by 3 stories... that's over 1600 square feet of living space.... so in short, he just added a decent size house to his already very large boat.

Again, sounds like someone is compensating.

This guy has even Spielberg beat:
