Browns sign OL Joe Madsen

Quote:
Madsen is 6-3, 310-pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of West Virginia. Originally signed by the Steelers as undrafted free agent in 2013, Madsen spent three weeks last season on the Packers practice squad during the postseason. He also played for the Los Angeles KISS in the Arena Football League in 2014. A native of Chardon, Ohio, Madsen graduated from Chardon High School.

In addition, the club placed DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and TE Randall Telfer on active/non-football injury and placed DL Tory Slater on active/physically unable to perform

Telfer was also injured on the field last season at USC.Is an injury that occurred prior to being under NFL contract defined as a non-football injury?

I believe that anything that happens outside of the NFL team's camp/control is a non-football injury.

It must be I remember Marcus Lattimore being put on that list and I thought ... really non football?

They should really rename the list to be "Non-NFL injury"

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I hope IEO could be ready to practice by week six of the regular season, I think that's the PUP deadline to come off or go on IR, right? Either way it would be a shame for the kid to miss his entire rookie season. Even if he doesn't play much or dress on gameday, it would probably still benefit him from being around the team and practicing.

I'm assuming IEO will be placed on season ending IR

I remember reading where he was quoted as saying he thought he'd soon be able to start running and cutting etc.

He needs to sit another year...get completely healthy...and take T Williams spot next year.

I am sure none football injury is with him as a NFL player or in the drafted protection of an NFL player working out with the team. College injury doesn't count. just guessing.

If I'm not mistaken, a player who is put on IR can't participate in team practices. I think it is different if on the PUP list.

IEO needs to get as much NFL experience he can handle. He may not be game ready, but he really needs to work with teammates.

I apologize for putting this here but did not want to start another thread...however...

Did anything happen last week after/since the rookies reported?

The silence is deafening...maybe that's a good thing.

yeah, I turned on NFL network last night expecting I could get some info on camps from last week.

But no, I get another crappy episode of the Top 100 for 2015, which has run damn near non-stop for 4 months now

I thought that the Browns had placed The CB and the TE we drafted on IR within the past week. That would have opened up 2 spots.

They were placed on the non-football injury list, which counts against the roster.

Browns signed linebacker Everette Brown and defensive back Aaron Ross and waived O-lineman Joe Madsen and D-lineman Christian Tupou.

Tab, weren't you pimping Everette Brown in the 2009 draft?

btw...are ped the same as drugs???

Do they have to fail once and get on a check list then when they fail again they get suspended...wondering if this is his 1st or 2nd offense. Lot of money for him to lose compared to others.

jmho

He will be able to practice with the team up to the final cuts, at which point he wil go on the reserve/suspended list, and will not count against the roster.

We could cut him anytime and not worry about it though.

True. But, there is no need to rush that. We can do that when we have to clear a spot for him by week 5. Might as well see how his replacement is doing.

What I meant was in the rules. If so then like drugs the first ped offense was kept off the books and nobody knew. This would have been his 2nd offense and a suspension was made. That was my question as far as the system goes is it the same as the Drugs with the CBA?

jmh?

Such a shame Lattimore had to retire. I think he could have been something really special in the NFL if not for that knee injury.

Where I am going with this is he becomes a "free" 54th guy...right?

We keep his rights after final cutdowns...but still have 53 other guys on the roster? Is that right?

If so, we should get several guys to get "busted" so they too get the 4 game roster-exemption. It's like the PUP list in a way.

That can't be right, can it?

Right. I don't know exactly what it is called, but he is placed on a suspended list. We still get to keep 53 on the roster while he is suspended. Once he is able to come off, we have to cut somebody to move him back on the roster....if we decide to move him back on the roster. We have the option of cutting him if we wish.

Wynn is pretty good.. didn't think he would make it though seeing that both Hawkins and Gabriel have the same body style and offer the same type of skills. wish him well though.
