Seriously dude. People arguing against marijuana legalization are basically insulting/threatening Swish. No one says it directly..but they basically are saying "We should arrest Swish for getting high". That is a big "FU" statement people want to pretend they aren't making. Are people really okay with Swish being arrested, taken away from his wife and kids, and thrown into prison to get raped?

If you don't want weed legalized go ahead and call the cops on Swish. Be a man of your words.

If you don't want Swish arrested for getting stoned then you are for legalizing marijuana. It isn't any more complicated than that. If you don't think Swish should get raped in prison for getting stoned you are for marijuana legalization. Either that or you don't have any integrity.

Laws apply to everyone and aren't supposed to be selectively enforced. It is either illegal or it isn't. And if you don't want your friends/family arrested then you are against a law.

If Swish was strangling hobos I'd immediately call the cops on him. Because banning murder is a sensible law.

If you want Swish arrested for getting stoned I don't consider you a friend or a decent human being. When it gets personal the lines are much clearer on this stuff.

Awesome... just awesome.

From some of the responses on this thread I can't help but wonder what would happen if alcohol were on the ballot to be legalized.

could you imagine the outrage if it was on the ballot to be made illegal?

That's an intersting read.

That is short sighted BS from you. and you need to learn how to read and comprehend.
NOBODY on here said that nonsense. what we said was kids have been getting there hands on "illegal" stuff since forever, that somehow legalizing or keeping it illegal will do something is in fact, short sighted.

Maybe not, but that does not mean that it won't be easier for kids to get marijuana if it is legalized.

It is not BS...it is freaking common sense!...it is forward thinking, what will happen if more individuals are growing mj.
More people growing more marijuana WILL make it easier for kids to get MJ.

My concern is not due to any anti drug program and no one has brain washed me.

Swish, serious question..have you raised a son and/or daughter?

My concern comes from "experience"..growing up in the 60s out of the house in the early 70s, 4yrs USAF, married with 2 kids, raised drug free, who are doing their best to raise their kids to be drug free.

Do you realize that raising kids is the "most important" responsibility you will ever in life?
...some parents succeed, raising kids who are drug free.
...some parents fail !!

Not only the most "important thing" you do in life, but one of the most difficult challenges you will be faced with, in your lifetime.

WHAT WILL YOU SAY when your kids ask, Dad, did you smoke marijuana or do drugs?
...will you lie?...and tell them you didn't do drugs?
...will you make up some BS answer that does not directly answer their question?
...if you tell the truth about your use of marijuana, from your kids point of view, that is a green light for them to do what Dad did.

Think about that...

weed isn't a gateway drug. i smoked weed, and i never had the urge to try cocaine, heroine, etc.

swish, that is exactly the answer I would expect from a young drug user...one who does not want to give up his drug of choice...someone looking to maybe grow his own mj.

Recent information indicates that nearly 50% of marijuana users eventually move on to another illicit drug. That is likely a conservative estimate. Marijuana IS a gateway drug and I don't care how many times the drug crowd disagrees with me, you won't change the facts...no fear mongering, just facts.

But, you don't have to move on to cocaine, crack, meth or heroin either...
...all you have to do is get creative with your marijuana...you know that, so do I.
...mj users can lace their mj with all sorts of stuff to get a different high and technically continue smoking MJ.
...Have you laced your marijuana yet?
...Have you "tried" cocaine and/or meth, or any other drug besides marijuana?

My opinions are not based on any one report or source. My opinions are based on my life experiencesI have read information, pro and con, on the subject of gateway drugs. But my experience is that marijuana is a starting point for many drug users who move on to other drugs, some more addictive.

Swish...NO, I do not and never have smoked and I do not drink. Both of my parents did smoke and drink, starting very young in their lives, but I was not a "follower" and never felt the need or pressure to do what my parents did or what some of my classmates did.

I'm firm believer that it is best to lead by example ...and not by being a "hypocrite", telling others to follow rules or examples that you yourself do not follow.

When my kids asked me if I had ever done drugs, I told them the truth, NO, I never have done drugs. I never needed a mental crutch and never felt the need to use drugs to help me get through tough situations. I never needed drugs to boost my self-esteem.

IMO, many turn to drugs because they have trouble facing reality or they have some mental deficiency and feel they cannot face certain situations without their drugs.

For many it is easier to do what others do, to be a follower, to take drugs so you can escape your own reality.

Imo, it takes a (mentally) stronger person, not to be a follower !

Some people use drugs just as they use alcohol…to relax and enjoy an evening. Not everyone drinks a beer because they need a crutch. It would be the same with pot.

Is alcohol a gateway drug to you?

I smoked pot in my teens and twenties. Not as much as some people, but definitely more than others. It was never a gateway for me. The drugs I've done in my life are as follows: alcohol, pot, a brief stint with whip its, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar. So see, pretty tame as far as drugs are concerned.

My point is, it's not fair to call pot a "gateway" drug when 50% of people move on to harder things…because that means the other 50% don't.

I am for legalization…though I probably won't partake. 15 years ago, I flushed what I had left after a night of total paranoia. Wasn't worth it and I'm not interested in going through that again. But if I do want to, I will.

If we're just keeping it to the facts, then 82% of coffee drinkers move onto alcohol. 70% of alcohol drinkers move on to illicit drugs. Coffee is a gateway drug.

I know you weren't asking me, but I don't think so. In terms of law, that is. We already have gun laws that should prevent any problem. The problem is, the law breakers.

As for pot, I guess I'm not against it being legal. I'm not for it either. Only issue I see with pot is, as it relates to driving - how do you test for it and say "yeah, the guy was high when he was driving"?

My, albeit limited, understanding is: pot stays in your system, even if you aren't "high" at the time something happens. With alcohol, you can pinpoint an "intoxicated" level. Alcohol doesn't stay in ones system for a week, or a month. My, again, limited understanding of pot is, it does stay in your system. (not that you are high a week later, or month later).

So, how is that regulated/registered, etc? I don't know, I'm asking.

Do you want Swish to be raped in prison for getting stoned?

What would your answer to your kids be?

"Dad, should Swish be arrested, taken away from his wife and kids, and raped in prison for getting stoned?"

If you caught your kid smoking pot. Would you call the cops?

"Dad, should I be arrested and taken away from you, tossed in jail, for getting high?"

I get where you are coming from. I don't think pot is good. People don't view drug use negatively enough, certainly on developing minds. But arresting people is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than people getting high. Going to prison is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse for you than drug use.

You gotta answer basic ethical questions man. It is forgivable if you change your mind, but you are currently saying Swish should get raped in prison for getting high, his wife would have to get a second job, his kids would grow up without a father around, and Swish's career and future would be damaged really badly. Would you be okay with that for your kids?

This is why it should not be legalized. Drugs are not a good thing to pursue and legalizing drugs is a positive, a promotion of product.

This is why I am for Decriminalization, where the Government
just walks away from the issue and stays out of it like they
always should have done.

The Gov should punish for driving while impaired or for giving it to kids.

When Prohibition ended, they didn't legalize booze, they dropped prohibition.

You're making a point, but I think you're going a bit far. No one should be raped in prison, OR out of prison. Period. If sentenced to prison, one shouldn't have to worry about rape. (well, rapists and child rapists......hmmm)

But, to take your argument the other way, should crack users go to jail?

Should drunk drivers go to jail? (provided they didn't cause an accident).

you're assuming it was hard for kids to get weed in the first place. how many times and different people do you need to tell you this? it's stupid easy for kids to get it and it was illegal, it being legal isn't going to make much of a difference.

yes, i have 2 daughters. one turns 7 next month, the other turns 5 oct 1.

I got out last year, 8 years active duty US Army, 4 deployments, married, 2 kids. you're throwing out accolades like we're trying to have a bigger stick competition. we're not. this is just a discussion.

I don't want my kids growing up using drugs. i prefer them not to even smoke weed in high school, but i'm also realistic:

I can teach my kids the best way possible, but ultimately, it's gonna be their decision, adding with peer pressure, thats going to determine what road they take in life.

what will i say? yes.

what will i tell them? daddy likes the feeling. plus it helps with my mental problems, and i rather smoke than get addicted to pain meds and other pills, which people actually OD from.

So i tell them the truth. just like my dad did. thats the problem with parents; they wanna sugar coat everything. they feel the need to shelter them from every little thing nowadays.

i have thought about it. i don't smoke around my kids. my kids don't even know about it. i wait about 1-2 hours after they go to bed, then i go downstairs, outside to smoke.

when the time comes and they are curious about it, then i'll deal with it. but i much rather have them smoking weed than even drinking caffeine, let alone any other drug like cigs or alcohol, or worse.

and? how is me smoking weed violating YOUR rights? did i rob you? did i try to have sex with your wife? did i personally try to get your kids to smoke?

no?

imma need links for that. because i got articles that state otherwise. Weed isn't a gateway drug, as it depends on the user. It isn't a gateway drug for ME, and thats a fact.

man what are you talking about? your sentence is a complete contradiction from what you're trying to say. I don't have to move on to those drugs? do you know what lacing is and what they use? it's EXACTLY the drugs you just listed.

why would i lace my weed, when i just finished telling you i don't do other hard drugs? should i lace it with more weed?

my other drug is alcohol. that crown and coke, man. i tell you.

My opinions are also based off life experiences. which as you can tell, we won't see eye to eye on this.

i don't know anybody in MY circle that has searched for harder drugs after smoking weed. i DO know people who's FIRST drug was cocaine, or cigs, or alcohol though, and moved on to harder stuff.

everybody that i know sticks with weed, maybe some alcohol and thats it.

that you're somehow feel the need to state that you don't need drugs to get through a tough situations means what to me exactly? nothing. you're not better than me, or anybody else. i don't have your problems, and you don't go through what i go through, so who are you to tell me ANYTHING? pay my bills, then i'll listen to you.

and boost self-esteem? guy when i smoke, i don't leave the house, so what am i trying to boost? my confidence playing madden online? world of warcraft? i got plenty of confidence out in the world bro, i got a bad ass looking wife, beautiful kids and i bench 375 now. don't need drugs for something i already possess.

like i said, i smoke weed because i can. but it helps with PTSD symptoms from what happened to me while deployed. it helps me sleep.

Dude, you need to chill. You shouldn't be giving out that info on here.

But, I do wonder, is pot helping you with your job? You feel pot is helping you with ptsd, which is cool. Been reading about medical benefits of pot, and some of them seem legit.

But is it helping you with your job? (yeah, I know). I also have to say, I don't know much about ptsd. How does it affect your schooling? How will it affect any future jobs?

Just asking bud, I don't know.

The good thing about todays culture is they lived through a lifetime of experience with and around weed. Many professional people I know did and some still do smoke weed. It has little to no impact on their careers or family. Those with less, little or no experience with weed have opinions based on what they have been taught or been told, not real life experience.

As such, the majority of voters in many states understands the benefits in tax revenue and less people in jail for weed, far outweigh any possible negatives involved with weed.

The fact is, some people are prone to have more addictive traits than others. It manifests itself in gambling, eating and many other addictive problems which include drugs. Weed has no influence over those addictive traits. No matter what the substance is, those people will find an addiction. Be that alcohol, drugs, food, gambling or any other of a number of addictions.

Thankfully we are now a society that overall understands that the "evil weed" is a falsehood that has been perpetrated upon us by our government that has no basis in truth. Things are changing for the better. It's time prisons are filled with real criminals rather than criminals created by our government.

i told you on the phone before it helps. look i'm a stoner, at the end of the day, i like getting high.

but yes it absolutely helps with work/school. bro i use to deal with customers, hands were shaking and sweaty, started sweating forreal like i was in the gym. i'd even studder.

weed just calms me down. i was way more relaxed, upbeat, not scared, just chill. actually have normal conversations with strangers now, and it absolutely helped with trying to sell cars. it's not a confidence thing either; i have no problem initiating contact with potential customers, its maintaining and closing that nerves and paranoia kick in.

and now i can actually sit in the classroom without feeling paranoid. always felt like somebody was watching me and felt nervous. now i'm just chilling. i actually pay attention to what the teacher is saying now instead of focusing on crap like people watching me.

civilian jobs, as long as they don't do any mental screenings i'm good.(as far as i know, nobody does really).

however, if i tried to get a federal job...that'll be an issue. especially if i try to work for the DoD like i was planning on. cause my mental history is readily available.

nobody is "suppose" to discriminate, but we all know there's work arounds to that.

I forgot in my last post: Kudo's on benching 375. Most I ever did was 310. Once. Spotters are neat to have, I didn't. 310, in the weight room, all by myself, once. Second time I didn't make it. Had to dump the weights off, left, then right.

Now? I bet I'd be lucky to put up 175. But, at my job, I can whip anyone's tail. smile

Git yer azz in a pool, then. Best all-around cardio there is, if you swim hard. Low-impact, too- no stress on joints or bones.

3 years HS swim team. Resting heart rate about 50 bpm back then.

(Dang... this is making me want to re-up my Y membership...)

Back then, I was nothing special... I could consistently hold down a 57.5 for the 100 free (4 lengths of the pool). 1:02.5 for back. About 1:03-04 for breast. I never could do fly.

My Jr year, we had this dude named Jim Tschour (pronounced "shore")... dude laid down a 48.7 at the state meet!
