Yeah but waking up a Drunk had its definite negative but this (Mallet) was a definite Attitude problem.

Unless he is trying to get himself out of there. Which could be the case after listening to his reaction. What's his name wanted Hoyer for quite a while.

jmho. Those who want Mallet??? Do you really want him now? I know one poster has changed his mind. wink

Yeah, this sounds a lot more like insubordination than just a young guy accidently oversleeping. I think it was a shot across O'Brien's bow by a guy who really ought to know better by now. I think Houston's coach handled it well.

I don't think it's so much that he was late or overslept one time, things happen, mistakes happen... as much as it is that the timing of it all makes it look like it was intentional, it was an "up yours" for not naming me the starter... and only Mallet knows the truth behind that.

It's like if Joe Thomas overslept one time, everybody would be fine with it... but with all of the other crap flowing around Manziel, it was a bigger deal because he already had the reputation of being irresponsible..

I believe a player is what he is at the time. Last year JFF was acting like a no good bum. Partying all the time and didn't seem like he even wanted the starting QB job. Not studying the playbook. As we see, this year he seems to be turning that around. So while last year he seemed like a no good bum, he changed that so far.

Right now, Mallet is acting like a spoiled child. As long as he acts that way, he will be seen that way. If he changes those actions, he will be seen differently.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

All Mallett had to do was keep his head down, keep working, and wait for Hoyer to implode. What an idiot.

I agree. Even O'Brian himself told the two just how close the decision was. Mallet is just shooting himself in the foot. Some people just implode at adversity.

An FYI: Mallett has admitted to drug use while in college. It is not out of the realm to think that he got wasted because he was upset/depressed and then overslept.

Never said he was. I would be lying if I said he was, because you see, there is this ONE simple truth: Flip has never been an OC before and I don't really know exactly what he will be running. My comments about DA ONLY centered around him being a better qb than McCown. I don't resort to lies to make my points.

Yeah, you told me the same thing when you were talking about Timid, BQ, and Weeden. What was that knowledgeable statement you had about BQ? "So, this is what a franchise qb looks like?" My turn:

Just how soft am I being to our guy calling him a DRUNK cause that is exactly why he missed practice "ONE TIME btw"

Attitude and possible CANCER to the locker room is Mallet and his bad attitude is pretty evident. If you are so shallow and need to discredit my posts and just not see the difference. There is an old adage - You can't fix.....

you know haw many rookies last year were consistantly late for meeting and practice. when i brought it up you ran me down, ridiculed me unmercifully. and now a one time thing that a HC is already taking care of unlike our HC last year and the guy is a CANCER to the locker room. pfft

you should go back and read some of your post to other people before you start crying about how unjust people are treating you.

After the Texans' top two quarterbacks went 0-fer in the scoring department last week, Hoyer led Houston to 10 points on his first two drives. He connected on 7 of 11 passes for 82 yards and had a 86.2 quarterback rating.

It wasn't a performance that will blow off any barn doors, but it's what O'Brien wants from Hoyer heading into the season. If the quarterback can cut down on mistakes and give Hopkins a copious amount of chances to make plays for him, the Texans' offense might have a chance to keep its head above water. thumbsup

Mallett didn't do anything to make O'Brien regret his decision. The quarterback started with 2-of-5 passing for 7 yards and two three-and-outs. After the Texans recovered a fumble prior to the end of the half, Mallett finally showed off his cannon arm on a bullet pass for an apparent touchdown, but it was overturned. Mallett finally threw his first preseason touchdown pass on the first drive of the second half. He ended with 9-of-17 passing for 77 yards and the score.

I'm surprised they haven't tried J.J. Watt at QB. I also wouldn't be surprised if was good at playing QB.

I'm surprised they haven't given the job to Savage, he's looked good the little bit I have seen of him and he sure has a lot more upside then Hoyer.

The team quit on Chud. This is why Haslam has made such a big deal about the team not quitting on Pettine last year. There were also reports that Chud played favorites and gave the team mixed messages.

Unfortunately Chud the OC and Chud the HC turned out to be two very different people. Perhaps this was an example of the Peter principle. Will be interesting to see if Chud ever lands another head coaching gig.

It's surprising how many people forget this. To say the team quit is putting it lightly. It was embarrassing to watch.

Yet we lost the last five games in a row last year and nobody bats an eye about it.

Hey, since Mallet overslept, does this now make Hoyer a bad teammate like it did when Johnny had similar issues?

My guess is that Brian broke into both Johnny and Ryan's houses and changed the time for their alarm clocks to go off. grin
