I'll take all of the above and add Sam Adams.
You can carry 80 on the roster all the way through training camp.... bring him in now, worry about the cuts when it's tme to worry about the cuts.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

IIRC the Browns carried seven DL on the 53 man roster last season:
RDE: McKinley/ Eason NT: Ted/ Kelley/ Parker or Baba LDE: Roye/ Fraser and then Harris when Roye was hurt.
That's four DEs and three NTs. Baba, Harris and A. Smith were on the PS? Twelve players, at this point, are competing for seven roster spots in 2007. Purcell, Pittman, Baba, Harris, A.Smith and Parker MAY be eligible for the PS. I'm not too certain about the last two being PS eligible.
The problem I see is that starting D linemen will need to be replaced b/c of retirement at the rate of about one every 1.5 years. Why add to the problem by signing Sam Adams?

People keep talking about Adams and Washington on the field at the same time.. I think I see it more of them NOT on the field at the same time.. with Washington at 37 and Adams at 34, they might just add up to ONE good DT if they could split playing time and stay rested.. especially if our defense has trouble getting off the field the way it did last year..
That would be a great tandem, the Oline would never get a break from the big fellas!! Course, we still need to work in Shaun Smith..

Just say no to Sam, unless you want to dump Ted. Why? Just state why ....
am a bit frustrated by Browns fans that want to go out and get every FA that may have an ounce or 2 of gas left in the tank, and discard all of the prior draft choices or FA's (less than 3 years) that still have a chance to develop. You're exaggerrating.. Let me show you something.. First last year the Browns could not prevent anyone from running up the gut or outside ..period.. A 34 is effective if your middle is solid ..from NT/MLB/SS.. While some say Ted held his own , I don't feel he did all that much..and when ANY BACKUP came in they just shoved backward...
This year Phil grabbed Shaun Smith from Cincy who may or may not be the physical presense we need..the only other big body is Parker who played somewhat better but not great..
Osh isn't strong enough to play NT yet and really is a project who seems to fit better at DE than NT.. U mention Frasier but he's brought in to play nose on passing downs but he primarily plays DE ..so he's out of the equation in my book..plus he's not STRONG but has a good motor..
I have no problem if Phil brings in Adams for one year..it makes that roation even better, SA is 5 years younger than Ted and has just as much experience in a 34 AS ANYONE..
REGARDING all the youngsters, they aren't all going to make the team..in a 34 U keep 6 linemen anyway..as I always say about any position, you bring in as many bodies as you can and let them fight it out..U keep the best ones and jettison the bums..
Why? Robaire Smith Shawn Smith Simon Fraser Orien Harris Ethan Kelly Babatunde Oshinowo J'Vonne Parker Chase Pittman Melola Purcell Orpheus Roye Alvin Smith Ted Washington Ted is the senior statesman and Roye is not far behind. You don't get better by having too many veterans filling roster spots.
I know that Fraser was a DE, and we have a backup DE in S. Smith. Fraser was not effective against the run, but that might change. Like I said, he did get better, who is to say that he has topped out.
The rookies may make the PS (like Baba did last year). But there will be cuts on the list.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

The Dispatch today had a blurb stating that Adams' agent said he was contacted by an AFC North team and it was likely he'd get an offer. The reporter is speculating that it was the Ravens cause he played there before and they still have a 4-3 at times.
Can't find it on-line, yet.

If the youngsters you have are questionable and can't improve the line U go with the vets... U look at all those bodies and tell me how good they are..and I'm not talking about the DE's either.. The NT's will be Washington/Smith/Parker..
Ted could retire as I heard some rumblings he might..he very well might not but he's really up there...
Again all those names are bodies and I'm doubtful that they are all a bag of chips..I know Frasier..Osh is more of a DE ..BOTH get blown off the LOS when teams run at them..thats not what I want out of a 34 end.
They brought in two more DE's who project like Frasier..maybe a bit stronger, which if they are they'll be thrown on the PS to develop.

I'm not real familiar with his career,But I know he started in Seattle, then to Balt, and Oakland, all 4-3 teams at the time, then he ends up in Cinci.I don't where he waas between Oak and Cinci,I just have to assume it was with a 3-4 team. But for the life of me I can't figure out which team that would be.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem
