I get it he's a top football player you like so he deserves a second chance by your standards.

But your statement EVERYBODY deserves a second chance is a false statement.

What Vick did was horrific but he was young and stupid and seems to have made himself better.
Comparing him to Charles Manson, comparing him to a pedophile... wrong very wrong.

I can't stand Vick! I've owned three Pit Bulls and love the breed. I wish his sentence would have been longer. But that's now it ended up. He is a free man in our society and has the right to work in his profession as are others who have done terrible things playing in the NFL.

I can't speak for pit on whether he likes Vick as a person or player, but I CAN speak for me. I thought he was over rated as a player. Never really cared for him. And that matters how much?????

Actually Vick didn't serve his original sentence he cheated the system by failing a DRUG test before sentencing and his attorneys got him into a drug rehab program with an early release after completion so no he didn't do his time. Crime does pay and cheaters do prosper and conmen con. Just ask "Ron Mexico" !

If only the dogs he tortured and killed could answer this question for you what would they say?

I'm sure everyone else can read and comprehend the thread. I'll let them be their own judge. So far you and Eve are the only two that are having a problem grasping the concept and what's being said. I'll allow that to stand on its own merit.

But the judicial system has determined that he has paid his price, therefore he is entitled to re-enter society and get a job. His job just happens to be that he plays football. If/when Jared gets out, he will be entitled to get a job (based on certain restrictions about his access to children)... if Manson ever gets out, he would be entitled to get a job... and if they can land a job that pays them a lot of money, there really shouldn't be anything for us to say about that...

See, I can simultaneously feel like Manson NEVER deserves to be free.. or that Jared NEVER deserves to be free... but at the same time, if they are allowed to go free, then they are entitled to make a living to the best of their ability...

It's really not that complicated... you have taken Pits comment that everybody deserves a second chance and beaten this dead horse that he means we should just open up the prison gates and let them all out for their second chance, and that is NOT AT ALL what he is saying...

I'll play... they would have probably lobbied for him to get a longer sentence and to stay in prison longer.. maybe they would have won, maybe not.. whether his sentence was a year or two years or ten years, when he got out, he's still entitled to get a job and make a living and if possible, make as much money as he can... that's how the system works.

I get that you don't like it... but once a person has paid for their crimes, everybody deserves a second chance... sometimes that second chance comes with conditions, like a pedophile can't be around children, and engineer who violates the code can no longer be an engineer, a doctor might not be able to go back to being a doctor because they have codes of conduct and require a license... but they still deserve a second chance in society..

Yeah, it was just a joke. I find it reprehensible what Vick did. While he didn't serve his time, I think Vick speaking up for animal rights is pretty big, so I'll give him a lot more leeway. That said, if the animal rescue legauge doesn't think Vick has done enough, they're in their own right. They're on the front lines and actually fighting for these issues, they have the moral high ground to call him on it.
