Obviously you and too many other Browns fans took "Hoyer the Destroyer" to heart.

HOUSTON -- After a splashy offseason at the quarterback position, the Houston Texans are bringing back a familiar face.

The Texans re-signed quarterback Brandon Weeden, the team announced. The deal is for two years and worth $4 million, a source said.

Weeden joins starter Brock Osweiler, whom the Texans signed last month to a four-year deal worth $72 million -- with $37 million guaranteed. Also on the roster are quarterbacks Tom Savage and Brian Hoyer, the team's starter for most of the 2015 season who is expected to be released or traded.

The Texans claimed Weeden off waivers on Nov. 18 after the Cowboys released him. Weeden had been with the Texans for barely more than a month when he was forced to enter the team's most important game of the season. When T.J. Yates suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on Dec. 20 against the Indianapolis Colts, Weeden come on in relief and led the Texans to their first road win in Indianapolis in franchise history.

Weeden played in two games for the Texans, starting against the Tennessee Titans, a game the Texans also won.

He spent 2½ seasons with the Cowboys, who signed him after the Cleveland Browns released him following the 2013 season. The Browns drafted Weeden in the first round of the 2012 draft.

Weeden played in 15 games as a rookie, going 5-10. In his career he is 6-19 in games he's started. Although he averages a completion percentage of 57.9, he completed 69.3 percent of his passes in 2015, which was easily the best percentage of his career.

NYJ could get Hoyer on the cheap if they dont want to pony up for Fitz.

Fitz is better.

But Hoyer would be "acceptable" as the starter, with that defense, a solid run game, and Marshall to throw to..

Well, he did win 2 games (out of 2) for the Texans, and they would not have made the playoffs without him.

He's not going to be their starter, obviously, but as a backup, I think that he's a pretty good option.
