Anyone working in campaign strategy forbyhe Donkeys has to be overjoyed right now, and rooting Trump on. He has almost zero chance of winning the Republican nomination, but the longer he stays relevant, the longer the Democrats can use guilt by association smears against the eventual Republican candidate.

The flip side to that is, the longer Trump is eating up the spotlight, the less time they will have in the end to focus in on and pick apart the eventual candidate, whoever it might be.

People grow fatigued hearing about the same candidate over and over and watching them dig up all of the skeletons in their closet, I'm not sure having all of the momentum in the beginning is a good thing.

having the President issue a mandate to a state, even if that mandate is in keeping with what many in a state want.. is not upholding states rights. If he wanted to uphold states rights, he would have kicked it back to the Alaska legislature to debate and vote and reach a resolution and the federal government would honor it... what he did is the exact opposite of recognizing states rights.

Agreed. Provided that you have a stable fundraising machine in place, the smart thing to do is just sit back at let everyone snipe during the Iowa/New Hampshire stage of the game, and then make your push when things get serious. In the end, Bush is the most likely candidate, and I don't think he'll have any of the Donald's stink on him. He's played it pretty smart.

Considering the fact that Alaska has been fighting since 1975 to have the name restored and Ohio has fought them all the way, I respectfully disagree.

This has been the wish of the state of Alaska for decades now and another state thousands of miles away has fought Alaska. To me that's the very definition of allowing a state to invoke their right and wishes.

Yeah, he should just continue allowing Ohio to continue infringing on the rights of the state of Alaska.

You are still confusing Ohio's and Alaska's States Rights with
a Decree by the head of the Federal Government.
States Rights matter not when stepped on by the Great Obama.

Rather odd. A state wanted the right to name the mountain Denali. Ohio, a state thousands of miles away have fought to deny them that right. Obama granted them that right.

Pretty simple for someone who wishes to look at it. though I didn't expect you to.

Obama didn't "grant the state" the right, he mandated it.

There's a difference.

And again, I don't care what the freaking name of the mountain is.

Actually, call it "Mount Arch" (has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?)

Yeah, man. That's exactly what happened. From Fox News:

"The state of Alaska has had a standing request to change the name to "Denali" — a native Athabascan word meaning "the high one" — dating back to 1975, when the legislature passed a resolution and then-Gov. Jay Hammond appealed to the federal government."

But again, State rights don't matter unless you want to use it to oppress, harass and hurt the marginalized groups of that state.

I'm pretty sure it's a federal park, it's federal land that just happens to be within the border of Alaska... If Alaska had any "rights" to the land, they could have renamed it themselves.

If Obama is such a big states rights guy, perhaps he should give the land back to Alaska.

I'll state this again, the Secretary of the Interior, Sandy Jewell had the power to change it under a law instituted in 1942. Which she did. You can read about that here.....

I'm really torn on this issue... should I keep my Mt. McKinley bumper sticker and hope it has future value or should I get it cleaned off and send the bill to the government?

Captain's log:

Just got out of Intro to Purchasing, learning how supply management needs to communicate with Finance, Accounts Payable(didn't know they weren't the same thing), engineering, and operations.

Spoiler came in, so i'm going to put it on the car today. more like a lip than spoiler. didn't want to buy one of those obnoxious ass spoilers like the posers do in the some of the car scenes around here.

Wait-slave name? Didn't Mckinley fight for the north? Also heard on the radio yesterday from the guy who represents the district McKinley's from that Senator Obama blocked several efforts by people who were trying to do this very thing.

Kindly bring your noses back out the air and put your self righteousness back in your pockets please.

Oh, my freakking goodness.

Do you NOT recognize a 'play on words' when you read it?
(70's Blacks rejecting their names of Smith, Jackson, Washington...)

Dammit... I'm so totally done with this.
Twice in as many weeks, I've been forced to defend myself against folks who read me on the surface, then seek to take me to task.

And as far as being sanctimonious is concerned... weren't YOU the one who just told ME how to post? I'd make a remark about pots and skillets, but then someone would accuse me of being a racist again. So much for levity, humor and fun.

Enjoy sniping with others. You and I are finished here.
