Didn't post in here yesterday because it was a crappy day..
Today is much better.. so the positive thing is, I made it through yesterday. Even on crappy days, I think "well, it could've been worse." Even today, I don't think anyone would blame me had I taken a "this day is gonna suck" outlook. Father in law phoning saying "I need help", wife rushing out, 911 called, daughter ticked cause she didn't "have time" to pack her lunch (not knowing the "grandpa" thing) All this messing up my day. Lo and behold, everything worked out just fine. Father in law is okay, Sooga got lunch made by me, got to school on time, and I even switched up my schedule and came out ahead. I'm changing myself. It's tough, because negativity is easy, but I'm really working hard to see positive even during negative.

I started a "new" job this week and the commute round-trip is three hours, so I am staying at my parent's house a couple nights a week to cut down on the gas expense as they live 20 minutes from my work.
Last night, I got spend the evening with my wife and kids, talked to my daughter after she come from the first school dance of the year (Added positive: She does not like boy), ate some homemade soup and slept in my own bed.

Positives today: GM's news, first and foremost.
Had to go to the school to see the Athletic Director. As I'm walking down the hall, well howdy, I see my daughter and 3 of her friends walking towards me. My daughter didn't even look at me, but her friends all said "hi". The positive here? My daughter's friends like me, and my daughter is afraid I'll embarrass her. That's a win/win situation.

A positive from last night: Wife and her sister were doing something for the church. Her sis came here. Brought her 11 year old son, my nephew, because "he said he wanted to hang out with Uncle Bobby." (no, that's not my name, it's just what his older brother started calling me when he was little, because I was a big Bobby Labonte fan. I guess on Sunday's watching the races I cheered for Bobby a little too much?)
Anyway, we "hung out". Took Dummy the dog on a 4 wheeler ride over to my cousins. Then rode home. Me and Dummy on my 4 wheeler, nephew on my wife's. Then, after dropping the dog off, eating whatever junk food we could find, we rode back to my cousin's house for a bon fire.
Kinda cool that your nephew "chooses" to go to Uncle Bobby's house to hang.

Finally enjoyed some sunshine after two weeks of straight clouds and rain Oh, I did a bit of four wheelin' today too, Arch! The place I work has a staff four wheeler that can be used with permission. I didn't take my good camera up the hill with me. I was afraid of rain. ------------------------ Nailed "I Am The Walrus" on guitar today. Now to figure out the melody line...

*bump Had an awesome weekend. Aunt and Uncle had a 50th wedding anniversary party, got to see a lot of family I haven't seen in a long long time. Got to eat crabs... makes any day a good day. Then yesterday ordered my new irons... because ordering new custom fitted clubs is easier than fixing your swing.

Had a very good August. But, September was looking pretty lean. Lean, as in "how am I going to make the house payment next month" lean.
Got 4 phone calls today - 4 jobs scheduled. Tomorrow will bring the same, I'm confident.
(hey, I've been in sales, or self employed all my life - all my working life that is. After a good month, I feel good for about.....oh, maybe 15 minutes. Then I'm in panic mode: I haven't made once cent for this next month.)
I don't have a salary. I haven't ever had a guaranteed income. (well, other than my draw when I was selling cars. $800 a month, and if you didn't earn that in commission, you owed at the end of the next month. Never happened to me, but a couple of times it was close)

So i got pulled over today for speeding.
I "accidentally" dropped my military ID card out the door attempting to give the officer my driver's license.
got off with a warning.
I don't use my ID to get discounts, but i will absolutely do it to get out of tickets. all day everyday.

Seems to me you and your wife might want to start following the speed limit? For me, I got the fog light light bulb replaced on the H3. Easy, I was told. Just turn the bulb housing counter clockwise, un clip the housing, put the new bulb in, and put it in, then turn clockwise to stabilize it. Yeah. Easy. Until you can't even get your hand up to the fog light - because you have to go from underneath. So, remove the skid plate in order to give you what you think will be a lot more room. It was only a "little" bit more room. Still could barely get my arms up there. Regardless, I got it done. Now, to put the new air filters back on the 4 wheelers. Easy, they said. No. There's a stainless steel filter that a foam filter is supposed to slide over. I can get the bottom side in, but the top of the foam filter just isn't fitting over the steel filter, and there's no way to get a grip to pull it on.

Wow. Take a break. Go back to the air filters, and have a light bulb go off in your head. I spent a total of about an hour on the dumb things..........quit. Went back 20 minutes later. Took me all of 5 minutes to get both back on.
The really good news of the day was: Saw my cousins 4 yr. old twins running around outside today at their sitters house. I pulled in to talk to them for just a minute. The one flat out said "Arch, when can WE have a sleepover at your house. You had our brothers, but not us. It's not fair."
(his older brothers spent the night here a year ago - how he and his twin remembered that is beyond me)
I told them we could do that, but asked "when?" "March". So, I guess March is when they'll be spending the night?

What ? no cousin Bobby Nope. The only nephews that call me Uncle Bobby are my wife's sisters kids. These are my cousins kids. (my side of the family). They call me by my name, OR by "Candy man", because at all the football, basketball, volleyball games, I buy them candy. And Mountain Dew. Now, my cousin and her husband don't like me so much on those nights........but who cares? Got a text last year from my cousin, at 1 a.m. "the kids are still awake. In fact, right now they're talking about having a football team and they want you to coach it. Cause you'll have candy on the sidelines."

When did your cousin give birth to Marshawn Lynch? Yeah, well, about that. Skittles is the candy of choice. For them. Ironic, now that you mention it. I even buy 1 lb bags of skittles. Sometimes I put them in separate baggies, about a 1/4 each, or sometimes I just take the whole bag with me. Clemmy and swish are facebook friends of mine. They can verify this whole deal. My cousin just posted on my facebook pretty much the exact story - but she was getting it from her kids. Clemmy? Swish?

I had the opportunity to take one of my grandsons to see ZZ Top and Blackberry Smoke in concert last night. He will be 17 in December and had never been to a concert. Let's just say my grandson has some issues and was very pre mature at birth. While he's 17, he really seems more like 12.
He wanted to go and asked me to take him. He goes to a special school with children that don't live close so he really doesn't have friends to hang out with. His brother 12 and his twin sister have very active social lives and while he doesn't seem to mind, I often feel bad because he seems left out a lot.
It really did my heart good to spend some quality time with him doing something he really wanted to do and enjoyed so much.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Had a decent day of work. Not great, but decent. Came home, showered, and got to watch my daughter and the freshman team play volleyball. (frosh's second game, Sooga's 4th as she has played 2 j.v. games).
They won. 1-1 now. So darn cool watching your kid do well when it's totally on her and her team mates. Life isn't about sports, I know. Sooga isn't going anywhere to college for sports, I know. As cool as it is to see her do well, it sucks to see her not do well. Any, and all parents, that are involved in their kids lives know what I'm saying.
Tonight was a "do well" night. Plus, since it was a game close to home, Sooga had me, mom, aunt, grandma on mom's side, grandpa on my side, cousin, cousin and cousin in attendance. Plus, I get to watch the Browns tonight. Granted, I may only watch the first 1/2 hour or so. (Wife's a "team up north" fan, so we'll watch that. And, I had to have Sooga to school early today. I'm tired.)
I could gripe and complain about "I've only made $300 this month so far." And I don't have enough jobs scheduled as of now to even make $1000 this month. But that's just negativity. Things will work out.

Had my oldest daughter and her 2 kids ( granddaughters) with me all day..
I took her Trailblazer in to have some issues looked at.. My friend called me a few hours later and was very upset. He told me she was literally stopping on one brake..and that it was due to fail. He called it a death trap.
Discussing the list of things that was needed for it to be safe..and my telling him to put 4 new tires on it...$1400 later she has a safe ride again.. and I know my daughter and granddaughter will be safe now makes me breath a whole lot easier.
Her 27th birthday is Sept 6th and I told her that was her birthday present and she was very grateful..and then the rest of the girls met us for her B-day dinner tonight.
But of course I have to get my daughter a real b-day present... but she's not expecting anything from me... just the fun of surprising her on the 6th.
Time spent with my girls...knowing I was able to make her ride safe and having my 89 yr old mother at dinner tonight made this day.. VERY positive.

i woke up this morning to the sound of music.
My wife was blasting that techno music. for any of you guys who aren't familiar with Trance/Techno, except for PortlandDawg, Hard techno would be the electronic equivalent to metal. crazy drums and melodies.
anyway, yet another reason i love my wife.
