j/c: --We probably signed Pazstor because he does play like a Brown.........you know, missing time due to a hamstring injury. --tab, why do you feel the need to insult other posters on every post you make? It's not an occasional thing. It's on every single post. And if anyone should keep quiet about evaluating rosters, it's you. You have been wrong more about our roster than any other poster on here. And it ain't close. Stop laughing at others and start listening to them. You'll be better off and come to think of it........so will we because we won't have to read that drivel. --So tab asks guys to post links and a couple of guys do. What happens? They get mocked. Amazing! --It is rare for players to say what our players did. If those comments went public, you can guarantee that there are a ton of guys thinking similar things. --Rish, all I know is that my player evaluations have been more accurate than the evaluations made by Brown's management for many, many years. So mock and laugh at guys me if you like, but I doubt you will be laughing at the end of the season.

--I think we should bring in Matt Cassell. I was hoping one of the other two qbs for Buffalo would be cut, but figured it would Cassell. He isn't flashy, but he won't make as many mistakes as McCown. No, we would not start him right away, but he could take over after McCown proves he is McCown, which will be w/in a few weeks. Cassel is just as bad as McCown. He hasn't been good since 2010. Since 2010 he has been really bad: 59% completion, 30 TDs, and 34 INTs. He was benched in three out of those four years. McCown stinks, but so does Cassel. Now is not the time to address the QB position. That time has passed.

I'm not mocking you and it's not hard to be right about Browns players. You can't truly evaluate players until a team has a QB. Every player's deficiencies are magnified on a team with no QB so it's easy to point to a guy and say he sucks. Then everything gets magnified even further when you have a ton of turnover at coach and FO.
So while you think you possess some magical evaluation skills, I think it's just making an educated guess. Color me not impressed.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I don't think I've ever seen people more in the tank for a player who has accomplished literally nothing. You mean like how some around here are for Manziel? It's not even close. A person compared Pryor to Josh Gordon. They did at that... and they explained the comparison. I thought it was a good one personally. They said both were raw. Gordon had played receiver his whole life, before entering the NFL. Pryor has played a couple of snaps in a preseason game. From those few snaps we know that he is a "good" blocker. I understand why Pryor is on the roster. People need to slow down when proclaiming Pryor is anything more than a lottery ticket.

Maybe the players are sick of hearing about "play like a Brown". I know I am, because what does that even mean? Mottos and slogans and mission statements are good for high school and college, but not for grown men IMO. It's a business and everyone knows we're a joke ... when I first heard "play like a brown" I literally started to laugh Yet every NFL team has a season motto. I listed some on another thread, the Steelers and Ravens mottos, IIRC.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Do you know what they are?
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Tomlin has used "The standard is the standard" quite often in his time in Pittsburgh. The Ravens, under Harbaugh, have used a new one each year. Here are some of them: 2008: What’s Our Name? 2009: Play Like a Raven 2010: W.I.N. 2011: Relentless 2012: TEAM 2013: Here We Are http://russellstreetreport.com/2014/03/0...ns-2014-season/Google can easily provide more information if you want. I don't feel like looking up the Ravens 2014 slogan, because too much time spent typing anything Baltimore makes me feel dirty, and not in any good way.

You can talk definitively, but in my opinion, which probably is a bit more astute than yours...........Cassell is a better qb than McCown.
I am not saying he is great. I am saying he is better than McCown.
I am also suggesting that w/Johnny's arm issues and his seemingly lack of durability, it might not be a bad idea to bring in a guy who could offer some stability.
I don't get the beef????

I don't get the beef???? Both are bad. We are not carrying three QBs and we suck either way. Oh and. . . You can talk definitively, but in my opinion, which probably is a bit more astute than yours. Nooooooooooooope.

Okay cfrs...........I'm sure you have way more "paid" experience than I do.
And you are still ignoring the fact that Cassell is better than McCown.

They are both among the worst QBs in the league right now. If given the choice, I take the guy who has been around if both are bad options.

You are right. I don't know. Share w/me.
You can stick w/McCown and JM, but personally, I think it would be worth the investment to bring Cassell in here. Not asking you to agree. I am stating my opinion.

I want to add to my last post. I have tried to keep my posts short and not-so-sweet [LOL] because of the poor attention span of our younger posters. Anyone remember the novellas we used to write on here in the early 2000s?
Anyway.....McCown stinks. I think he will implode. And even if he doesn't, did anyone notice how he threw his body around in meaningless preseason games? Did anyone notice Pet pointing to his head, as in---be smart? Did anyone else notice how long he holds the ball? Did anyone else notice how poor his pocket presence is and how he subjects himself to hits?
Do I need to tell you my football point or can you make your own inference?
Now, let's go to our number two guy. He's had elbow problems since high school. I was a pitcher and SS. Got tendinitis in high school. It does not go away. Fact! Let's say that there is absolutely NO concern about his elbow [that's dumb, but let's play dumb.] The guy is not very big. He puts himself in some bad positions when being tackled. He didn't last two full games last year. Do you really think he can be counted on as durable at this point.
Let's take it a step further...........he is coming off of rehab. He has shown positive signs thus far, but I think all of us know people who have rehabbed.........what is their success rate?
So, let's pass on a guy who we know that at this point is probably better than the two we have and will most certainly get picked up by someone else because we absolutely are certain that our two qbs will not only play well, but will be around for the entire year.
Brilliant freaking plan, y'all!

Teams don't carry three QBs. Especially with two of them being like Cassel and McCown.

I am a big supporter of staying the course with Pett and Farmer, but this "play like a Brown" was one of the dumbest ideas two newbies to their position could have dreamt up. It's idiotic, childish, and embarrassing particularly for a franchise with a losing culture. Quite simply, it's laughable.

That's even more disappointing. And the Jets stole it from the Ravens (Rex). Are we really surprised that football coaches lack creativity?

YTown's post showed the Ravens used the same slogan as well. Pettne also coached there. Maybe it was Pettine's idea from the beginning. Maybe not.
Maybe the slogan is stupid as hell. But two other teams have used it so maybe they didn't think it so stupid.

When you cut a guy like Lentz and keep guys like Bowe and Pryor................your slogan is worthless!
I have to add to this:
One thing I have learned from years of coaching, owning a business, and teaching...............is this:
Don't BS the people you are leading. Be honest as hell. Even if it hurts. But, don't BS them. Leadership is all about trust, inspiration, and accountability. Don't dare ever try to deceive your people w/BS!
Rule number one!

Every year there is outrage on these boards when certain players get cut. Let's get real. When training camp starts every coach and GM for all 30 teams have already decided upon o 48 players. They only have a few spots open in their minds. Dwayne Bowe was never on the chopping block!!! If Pettine was unhappy about his participation during camp he might let something out in the media that he is playing for his job like last week. That is his way to send Bowe and other vets a message.
I had a strong feeling that Pryor was safe also when the team held him out of game 3 and said if this was a regular season game he would be able to play. It was a coached decision. Coached don't hold players out of pre season games if they are going to cut them.
I do not understand this outrage every year for these cuts. Last year there were posters up in arms about Leon McFaddden. I know who? Well he was signed by the Jets. Then cut. This season he was signed by the 49ers and yesterday again cut.
Lets face it. At best we will be a .500 team at worst we will have the top pick in the draft in 2016. None of the players cut would change that.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

I was a fan of McFadden. I admitted it. I also admitted I was wrong. How many times do I need to do so?
Do you really wanna compare our histories in evaluating players?
Seriously?

He didn't last two full games last year. Do you really think he can be counted on as durable at this point.
If the Browns cut their other QB it must mean his elbow is alright. They aren't foolish enough to only keep two qb's when one has a nagging injury? Are they? Are they... crap! As far as the BS goes. I remember working for a mason when I first got out of high school. One of our guys used to pull crap all the time, like come in an hour late and throw a gas can on the hood of his car like he was proving the reason he couldn't get his butt moving in the morning. The old man would say, "Eric don't try to baffle me with bullshit." Baffled by bullshit; that still makes me laugh.

Jeremy Fowler, ESPN Senior NFL Writer Close ESPN senior NFL writer Previously a college football reporter for CBSSports.com University of Florida graduate Follow on Twitter 2 Shares Email Print Comment Former St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis is flying to Cleveland on Sunday night for a visit and a physical with the Cleveland Browns, according to sources. If all goes well with the Browns' roster maneuvering, Davis is expected to sign a contract with the team. Davis started eight games for the Rams last year, throwing for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Rams cut Davis on Saturday, and he cleared waivers today. The Browns have been interested in Davis since the spring, when they inquired about his services. Wait! What?
We are bringing in Austin Davis over Matt Cassell?
I yi yi yi.................Can't wait to hear the "logical" explanations on this one. Austin Davis is eligible for the practice squad. Matt Cassel is not. What makes a player eligible?
Generally, teams like to keep young players on the practice squad so they can develop without taking up spots on the active roster. Undrafted rookie free-agents are popular along with late-round draft picks. A player can be eligible if he does not have an accrued season in the NFL, although the NFL has now approved a maximum of two spots on the PS for players with no more than two accrued seasons. To have an accrued season, you have to be active for at least six regular-season games. A player can also go to the practice squad with an accrued season provided they were on the 45-man active roster for less than nine-regular season games.
In addition, a player is allowed on the practice squad for two years. If a player is on the practice squad for six weeks, up fron three weeks per the previous agreement, in a season, it is considered a year of PS sevice. Players are only allowed to be on a practice squad for a third year if their team keeps 53 players on the active-inactive list at all times. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/8/29/6077941/nfl-practice-squad-rules-eligibility-salary-deadlineAustin Davis has been active for ten games in his career. Logical enough for you?

I yi yi yi.................Can't wait to hear the "logical" explanations on this one. I'm not sure where you're shooting here!!! Davis is a younger version of McCown. He did ok for St. Louis filling in for Bradford. Kid works/acts like Colt McCoy. He is a good kid. I don't think will ever be a starter. He makes a better backup than Shaw.
