Who would you like to see on the practice squad?

Here's my semi-thought out list:

McDonald OL
Pullard ILB
Vince Mayle WR
Lenz WR
Lynden Trail OLB
Logan Thomas QB
Cyril Richardson OL
Storm Johnson or James Wilder Jr. RB
Louis Nix NT
Jeff Luc LB
Nick Perry S

Bottom three could swap out pretty easy for DBs.

Don't we only get ten guys?

Logan Thomas? We should probably have a guy that can actually play QB as our third QB.

Someone will probably claim Nix and Richardson.

Apparently I can't count. Yep, should only be ten.

I'm not looking at him as our third QB, I'm looking at him as a practice squad developmental QB. If one of our top 2 get hurt, sign someone like Cassel.

I wouldn't be that upset if we missed out on Nix or Richardson. Richardson I'd miss more because our depth on the o-line is lacking right now.

Actually, I could see the Browns going after Richardson for the 53.

I like Wilder vs Storm...Storm was just awful (watched him last week had a fumble, dropped past, horrible kick return) but he is probably better than those RBs we had on our team during the preseason

I always thought Nick Perry was the LB from USC that plays for the Packers

Other picks don't look bad either imho

Yeah, I always found that Logan Thomas was a guy with a big name that scouts always loved, but never lived up to the hype.

I think we'll see the same with Brett Hundley. Guys that might look like QBs but simply aren't. Although Hundley seems to have had a good pre-season. But I just don't see him ever being a good QB......

I'd love, just absolutely love, if we could get Haynes Pullard and Josh Lenz on the squad.

Just don't see that remotely possible for either of those two though.

I don't think it's as impossible as you think.

I fully expect it to happen for both.

I agree with wanting those two back, but I think they are long gone soon. And honestly they are the two I cared about most. We have seen this before, hoping for 'upside" in projects and potential to be realized. Just liked what those two showed.

"Play Like a Brown" is getting more puzzling and arcane; it seems to involve very little playing, a bike, catching way too many balls, and finishing up your kool-aid.

But I digress. . . . .

I would like to see Lenz, Mayle and McDonald on the Practice Squad, but do not understand the comments here..

These are the bottom of the roster people.. Lenz has been on 3 other Practice Squads and never picked up.. The Browns already have 3 short WRs on the team.. and all three are rated higher. All Preseason.. and going into last year, all everyone has been saying is the Browns need height in their WRs.. Need WRs who can go up for the ball and win a jump ball situation... and the coaching staff does just that. would you switch out Lenz for Hawkins ? or Gabriel ? If not.. why add another person to the 53 whose talents are duplicated ? By all means.. put him on the Practice squad.. and activate him if something happens... but for now.. I think this is the best move for both Lenz and the team.

Pryor fills out 2 rolls.. being a 3rd string emergency QB.. and being a big WR... if Connor Shaw were healthy.. and Josh Gordon were here.. there would be no need for Pryor or Lenz.. but Lenz would probably still be on the Practice Squad.

Absolutely... every player that plays hard, works hard, is liked by two or more teammates should be kept on the roster regardless of talent and upside or who else is on the squad.

Bryan Bennett was cut by the Colts, I would give him a look for our practice squad QB. He was beat out by Mariota at Oregon. He transferred to Southeastern Louisiana and was pretty successful. Bennett was never going to make the Colts as their QB depth chart was already set.

Housler is the guy. If they were going to cut Johnson they would have already done it.

If they cut Housler they don't have to guarantee his contract and he will possibly be available later in the season.

All of those guys had previously been on the team. That means we are likely getting three other guys from other teams.

Good thing we got Pullard IMO ... and loaded up on the OL

Surprised Lenz and/or Mayle not on the PS

What about Lentz? Maybe to much a distraction? Or did he get picked up by another Team?

edit: Maybe he's not eligible? This is his 3rd Team.

Mayle was DOA. For him not to make it on the practice squad is telling.

what QB would we be eyeing? Devlin?

I said this only going off of what I knew about Bennett in college. It turns out he was god awful in the preseason. I retract this statement.

I remember the name. Ousted by Mariota at Oregon IIRC

I don't know man. I would think if he had some upside he would be kept over Hasselbeck. Dude is almost 40 years old.

Filed to ESPN that QB Austin Davis is flying to Cleveland tonight for a visit/physical with Browns on Monday. He's expected to sign with team assuming the Browns have a roster spot open.

I like this move a lot, he showed some potential in a good amount of starts for a Rams team without many weapons and a bad OL.

Good developmental QB that's shown he can play when called upon.

Mayle and/or Lenz may have told the team to go eff themselves when they were asked about the practice squad. No way they would have taken Jennings over Lenz as far as I can tell.

I respect you, steve.......but, what proof do you have of that?

Farmer's moves in regards to the skill positions leave me scratching my head. I would not be that surprised that he would value Jennings over Lenz.

Would you? Seriously?

I don't have any proof. That's why I said "may." Do you think Farmer values Jennings over the guy he picked in the fourth round and convinced himself is "like Anquan Boldin?" Of course, I'm talking about Mayle now, and he's not on the PS.

With Lenz, Pettine praised him publicly throughout the preseason, his teammates were vocal in their support of him, and then he gets cut. When he was cut, he tweeted that "it's been real" regarding Cleveland and the fans indicating there was no intention of coming back.

Plus, Jennings played like crap in the last game, supposedly their tryout game.
