Keep in mind this is "per a source", so I won't be surprised if it's not true.

But, if it is, I'm assuming it means we agreed with Montee Ball?

The Terrelle Pryor experiment won’t make it to Week One of the regular season.

Pryor, the former quarterback who tried to make the Browns as a receiver, is on the way out. A league source tells PFT that Pryor will be waived.

The Browns indicated that they liked what they saw of Pryor at receiver, and when he made the 53-man roster after last weekend’s cuts it appeared that he was ready to go for the season. But the Browns have apparently decided they need his roster spot somewhere else.

That doesn’t mean Pryor couldn’t return to the Browns down the line. And it’s possible that some other team will put in a waiver claim for Pryor. But for now anyway, Pryor is out.

#Browns Terrelle Pryor confirms for http://cleveland.com that he's been waived. "This will be a mistake by them,'' he said.

That's surprising. I thought it would be Housler for sure. It will be interesting to see if someone else picks him up.

Is this a Kuharich move, or did Ray call the office from a pay phone? To sign a RB with a high ankle sprain to our 53 man roster?

Be even more browns-esque when Farmer fires Kuharich for this move when he gets back from suspension.

You're right. He is incommunicado for 4 games. Maybe Pryor was a Farmer guy so we took advantage of Farmer's absence? I can't think that's the case because that would cause some bad blood when Farmer comes back, I'd think.

Browns-esque would be wasting a roster spot on a player that can't play the position he is supposed to play. And can't play special teams either.

With that said, Turbin is currently injured.

We are one of only a few teams that would ever do something that dumb (Washington also comes to mind).

I agree with you. I wasn't really counting on Pryor doing much for us, outside of being a gimmick and making things kind of exciting.

I just expected us to dump someone else (not sure who) and then sign someone who could contribute now.

Maybe this turns out to be a great deal, who knows. But it still just makes me laugh at this team. We get a lot of press on a guy, seems to be part of the team's plan, even if only a small part, and then he's gone.

Pay Phone ? No he texted them...

I don't understand this move... But moves like this is why I would never want to tank a season..

We would tank for Hadens replacement..

Tons of potential dont help u on when they are training for the tour de france lol. I was a huge Robert Turbin fan felt he was a late first round talent when he came out. Very good addition to the team. I like this backfield.

jc...

The constant 3 ring circus continues in Berea..I'm not sure anyone knows what the hell they are doing.

Try to get a straight answer from those in charge and they give us a bunch of crap explanations.

Our front office and head coach cut the leading WR for the preseason, Lenz, keeping Pryor over him...and now they cut Pryor for what?

...unfreaking real

This team. This franchise. Always fun.

I guess I shouldn't care. It's more about the whole world making fun of us, as usual, not so much that I thought T.P. would be all that. Can anyone really laugh any harder though?? Who cares???

Isn't Turbin too injured to play right now?? I remember quite a few Dawgs were high on that guy leading up to his draft.

The part I don't get is the fact that Turbin can't play for 2 or three (maybe more) weeks.

Pryor waived by Browns: 'This will be a mistake'

By Marc Sessler
Around the NFL Writer
Published: Sept. 10, 2015 at 04:38 p.m. Updated: Sept. 10, 2015 at 05:04 p.m.
Cleveland is pulling the plug on Terrelle Pryor.

Every game, all season

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Browns are waiving the quarterback-turned-wideout, according to a source.

The move is a surprise after Cleveland's front office took a leap of faith on Pryor, making him part of the 53-man roster despite very little proof he can play the position.

"This will be a mistake by them," Pryor said after learning of his fate, per The Plain Dealer.

The athletically gifted Pryor saw a mere 17 snaps during the preseason after battling a sore hamstring that kept him sidelined for most of camp. The transaction gained clarity after it was learned that the Browns had picked up former Seahawks running back Robert Turbin off waivers.

Latest Browns surprise: Terrelle Pryor waived to make room for injured running back

So much for that: As the open locker room period wound down on Thursday, Terrelle Pryor undressed at his locker after a routine session of post-practice weight-lifting. Minutes later, he was called to an upstairs office and told he was being waived.

And just like that, the experiment of converting Pryor from quarterback to running back is over. All that time invested, all that angst about getting him through a hamstring injury, all that tension about giving him a roster spot above other players who showed up every day … it’s all ancient history.

On Wednesday, Pryor was running a read option play from the shotgun. On Thursday, he’s another footnote in the team’s soiled recent history.

The Browns dumped Pryor to make room for running back Robert Turbin, who was claimed from Seattle with a high ankle sprain and is not expected to be ready to play for weeks.

“This will be a mistake by them,” Pryor said to Cleveland.com.

Later, Pryor Tweeted: “Had great time at Cleveland. Happy to get opportunity at Cleveland and good luck this weekend vs jets !”

Turbin was waived Wednesday by the Seahawks with an injury settlement. The Browns must carry him on their regular roster while his high ankle sprain mends. In the meantime, the Browns still has to make room for a third active running back for Sunday’s opener against the New York Jets. It could be Shaun Draughn promoted from the practice squad.

But who knows?

All of these moves are being done with GM Ray Farmer out of the building while serving a four-week NFL suspension. Bill Kuharich, executive chief of staff, is serving as the interim GM.

The Browns declined to make coach Mike Pettine or Kuharich available for comment and did not include a comment in the official release of the moves.

As Bowe goes: Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo disclosed that he recently had a pep talk with Dwayne Bowe, who was expected to be the Browns’ No. 1 receiver but showed up this week third team on the depth chart. “I told Dwayne we expect more out of him,” DeFilippo said Thursday. This revelation may partially explain why Browns preseason TV analyst Solomon Wilcots reported Bowe’s roster spot was in trouble prior to the fourth preseason game in Chicago. DeFilippo didn’t go that far, however. DeFilippo said, “It was disappointing he got hurt so early. And it’s not all his fault that he hasn’t been on the field. He didn’t want to get hurt, so I feel bad for the guy that he’s in this predicament, but at the same time we need Dwayne to come along here and be a big part of what we’re doing.” Bowe is the highest-paid of the Browns’ receivers ($9 million guaranteed over two years, $12.5 million overall) and was projected to be the No. 1 wideout. But a hamstring injury that cost him three weeks of practice and three preseason games resulted in Bowe slipping behind Brian Hartline and Travis Benjamin on Mike Pettine’s first official depth chart at one receiver position. Nevertheless, Bowe’s attitude has been “great,” according to DeFilippo. “He’s been great since he stepped foot in this building. He really has. For a guy who’s had as much success as he’s had, he’s bought into what we’re doing., bought into our plan, bought into ‘playing like a Brown.’ He’s just had a little bit of case of bad luck.”

What was the percentage chance that Pryor was a serviceable, Brian Hartline-esque wide receiver? 10%? A one time Pro Bowler? 5%? A star? 1%?

You are disgusted about us cutting a player who has never played the position he was signed to play. And he's not a rookie, he's 26.

If this was an undrafted rookie whose named was Perrelle Tryor, with the exact skillset of Pryor, was injured all of training camp, and was a college QB from Utah, no one would care that he was cut.

Which is something no Browns player can claim since we've returned.
