He's sixth in the league with a 3.8 yds per carry on 99 carries With 2 games to go in the season it's not likely to improve that much. Of course another 52 yarder won't hurt.
Stats aren't great so his intangibles have to be better than average. What else is he bringing to the field?

"Barclay amounted 261 all-purpose yards during his team's 25-22 loss Saturday. He rushed for 122 yards on 12 attempts (10.2 ypc), with 35 yards on 3 receptions and 4 kick returns for 104 yards." From ClevelandBrowns.com, again...NFLE, but pretty decent stats

I take the stance that no one cares what I post either way, so I just chime in when I feel the need.
I'd like us to at least give him a look and see how he performs.

He had a 4.4 AVG before that game....longest run was for 44, so that´s still 130yds in 4runs.....and I can tell you he´s doing this without getting ANY help from the passing game which just sucks for the Thunder....oh, he also caught a pass for 19yds
Oh, and Thunder´s 2nd RB Murray got 17 carries and gained 43yds btw....
Still....as much as I´d like to see him on the roster, I just don´t think they´ll cut Harrison for him...

Lets see what he can do in Training Camp # 1 .. Lets see if he stays healthy and gets reps in Preseason .. Lets see what Chud & Phil have to say ..

I wouldnt be surprised to see Harrison move to the #2 back behind Lewis and Barclay holding down the 3rd down back spot. Barclay Has really been impressive especially in catching the ball out of the backfield and also in blocking.
I dont think it is Harrison vs Barclay but Harrison is simply more of a feature back type and Barclay is an ideal 3rd down scat back.

You guys are killing me w/this Harrison guy. Feature back?
He looked good in pre-season. You know how many guys have looked good in pre-season? Remember Luke McCown?

Feature back, probably not. Can he be a starter in this league eventually like Chester Taylor. I think so, but he will never be elite.

You know, I was really taking a look at Barclays stats and they are rather impressive,, so, my question for those in the know, how often do the statiscal leaders in NFLe actually make an impact in the NFL? I don't even know where to look for such info.

No clue.
Here is the deal....the guy is clearly a cream player in that league....and it is the best league out there next to the NFL....he is showing he can get it done there....that is all you can ask of a player in his position.
What that means for his future here....who knows??... but I would just as soon see Browns players being at the top of the heap...even if it is the junk heap that some other teams player.
The fact he didn't make the team last year doesn't mean much...as a undrafted player, he isn't going to get the shots a drafted player does....you know it, I know it. But now, he has been given a shot of sorts and has stepped up to meet the challenge...this camp will be a fair one for him.....I think the guy has some skills and could push for a little play time.

I don't know what it all means, but I like the idea of having a "farm team" of sorts. I like what we're doing with CBs and how we're developing them "at home" and like what's happening with the RBs as well, (guys like Barclay, Wright & Harrison,) and while they may not contribute immediately, they very well may contribute eventually. This is what having talent on the team for a change, and decent scouts in the field allows, IMHO.

I'd have to go back and check, but I thought he didn't make the team last season due entirely to an injury situation.. can't evaluate a player on the bench right?

Is that maybe the way NFLe should be viewed,, as a farm system? I didn't look at it that way, but it kinda does make sense.

Well, a couple of years back we had the NFLE Sack Leader on our team and he failed to make it out of Training Camp if I recall correctly.
Basically, being the stats leader over there means pretty much nothing except that he's worth continuing to take a look at. had he gone there and tanked, we could safely toss him aside like a used diaper.

That's how I've viewed it for several years now.
Barclay has earned a good look in TC but we all know what will happen toa 10YPC on this side of the pond.

If Barclay doesn't make the team.. i'm going to be a little upset..
the guy gets yards.. he has that ability.. college... NFLE... and now the NFL...
he has what it takes.. he just needs that opportunity... i see no difference b/w Barclay and Tiki Barber... He can be just as good...

I don't know if I will be upset....as long as he gets a fair shake...the kid did lead the ACC in rushing 2 years in a row...the ACC might not be the SEC....but it is a major conference with some better than good teams across the board.....you don't do that by fluke....especially at Wake Forest, one of the teams that isn't exactly a football powerhouse.

Why? If he doesn't make the team that means we got 3 RBs who are better. Why would that upset you.
"the guy gets yards.. he has that ability.. college... NFLE"
True n a fact.
"and now the NFL"
welll...an ASSumption - not fact.
We all like the underdog which he is - I hope he makes it but to say he's exactly like Tiki Barber is just not so. He's 10-15 lbs lighter than Tiki.
I like the kid - I really wish he was returning punts in NFLe as that spot is wide open for grabs. He's a tough kid and I'm also curious on how he would fair in the NFL...All we can hope for is that NFLe actually has some meaning even if a little.
I'm sure if he's anything our coaches will give him a fair shot. At least they got film on him.

Yes, and I remember how on a much worse team he ended the year with a better rating than Eli Manning. I also remember the Buffalo game where he'd take 1 step back and get splashed by 2 DTs equalling 650LBs. We had -2 yds at the half. That was one of the worst lines ever. The poor kid was a 4th round project tossed into the starters job because the line got the first 2 QBs hurt. How'd you expect him to fair? Verse, you are much, much smarter than that. If you are going to bring up anyone - make it Ben Gay.

Sorry...forget about the conditions...the conditions have been bad for any QB upto 2007. But Luke's Mechanic's Sucked...Totally. Unlike Frye and other prospects.
I am curious what Harrison does when he gets his chance...Regular Season.

Ahhh shaddup. I was talking about how people were acting like he was the second coming because he played well in preseason. All kinds of guys play well in preseason but don't do jack in the games that count. Thus far, neither Luke nor Harrison has shown me a thing in a meaningful game.

I've watch a few of Barclay's games. The Browns were touting his accomplishments when he was averaging 3.0 per carry. In the last few games he has shown good ability to cut back and even break some arm tackles. What has really impressed me is his pass blocking. He is very small but is not afraid to throw his body around to make a block.
Harrison looked very shaky to me last year. With the extra weight I hope he can run stronger. From what I read most of the additional weight was lower body. If that is the case I'm not sure if he is strong enough to block without throwing his body into it. My hope is that Harrison can prove to be our second back behind Lewis and Barclay can step in and be our third down back. I don't see Wright being able to step it up from what he has shown.

if Lewis gets hurt and we need a pounder.. there is Vickers..
Perfect set up...

I like the idea of Barclay in the slot or out of the backfield with a little space...he can work around the field if he can get a step or two.

Unlike some others Peen, I have been following him every weekend. I try to catch Berlin's games on NFL Network every weekend. He's made some nice runs. Always seems to find a hole, then makes at least one move to get some extra yards. This kid has got some potential. They split carries most of the time in NFLE, so he doesn't get the 20+ carries a game to see what he could really do.

Yeah, he seems to have good hands and catches everything, but so did Rideau. First year in camp, he caught everything in practice and preseason games. The next year, he was nonexistent. Hopefully that's not the case with Mosely.

Peen, I agree-even he gives us one or two 100 yard games (or even 15 yards in the right situation, when we need it) and one or two good returns a year (esp on punts), that might be one two wins...and we need that! That's worth playing him right there...and looks like he might be able to do that...time will tell. He doesn't have to be a featured back. We need that 5-10 yards late in the game that we don't have right now that everybody has been hoping harrison was ganna give us, but hasn't so far.

J/C I sense people taking sides here.....I don't care for Barclay over any other back....I just think it interesting and exciting we have a guy there getting it done giving us another potential option. I don't really get some of the responses by some of the people around here??

Peen the odds of an undrafted or day 2 pick making it is pretty slim so anytime a kid shows promise you will have the local beat down crew waiting in the wings to tell everyone how stupid they are for thinking a kid might actually make it. Just like with Leigh Bodden 99% of the people that ripped on everyone for saying the kid has talent are now the experts that knew he was gonna make it all along.

You know , I never could figure out the " Rideau. " situation ?? Kid caught everything ,but never got a chance to play in year one ! Comes to camp year two , and now he is a dud ??? I get real fed up with " its all about speed " I would have given anything last season for a kid who ran good routes with HANDS ! .. Here's to you Brian " B " where ever you are !

The Browns have a terrible track record with UDFA's/late round guys, minus Bodden and a few others. I've stopped getting excited about them.
