Yeah, I posted a dumpster fire gif. Let's try and take away some good things from this game.

Our kicker looks good.

Manziel, when given time, looks full of poise.

Manziel's postgame interview speaks leaps and bounds of how far he's come. Go look for it on cleveland.com

Manziel had time all day. He abandoned the pocket unnecessarily a ton.

Positives: It's week one and crazy things happen in week one. Hopefully we get this fixed. If not we are looking at a two win season.

Can't we just be pissed off... I'm tired of losing ..then trying to make reasons why it's okay.

Sorry RocketOptimist.. I do appreciate your effort... I just can't be or find anything positive about losing another opener..

How can we change the culture..when we can't change losing

I had an outstanding grilled cheese sandwich right around kickoff. It was 3 cheese (american, cheddar, and swiss) and I had a side of pickles/chips.

It was a positive meal.

My initial reaction to this quote was to say it was completely false. And now I can't go back and watch the game again to see if it's true or not because I just deleted it.

I will say this...Manziel seemed to be the only one who cared to compete. Some of the runs could have been his attempt to try and make something happen.

There was probably a time or two he could have climbed the pocket, but I don't recall thinking as I was watching it that he was leaving too early.

I'm sure there is a dark part of the internet where you can download it.

Also, NFL has a service where you can watch old games. I think it is called NFL Game Pass or something along those lines.

Pass blocking was good.

Gipson played well.

Gabriel ran some nice routes.

Benji looked good.

JM looked better than last year.

And here's the problem. He will NEVER do this, because all he would see then would be Mack's or Bitonio's neck hair. He runs backwards and left/right to see the more of the field. When in the pocket, he can barely keep track of his first option. For anything else, he needs to scramble. He just is not a NFL QB, sorry to interrupt your positive thread, but I contributed earlier. Andy Lee was really good tough

a few from me, McCown, man, I love his guts, leading by example, leaving it all out on the field etc etc, the downside is, he took 2 very nasty hits. I remember texting my brother and telling him that Josh was way too old to be acting like that and he was going to get himself killed.

Manziel, well, he looked like a different guy out there. Yeah he made a few mistakes, but at least he was reading the defense, going thru progressions and for the most part taking what the defense gave him. Nothing too terribly stupid. All in all, a huge improvement for him over last year, but hopefully McCown comes back for week 2. Johnny needs to sit and learn more.

Benji, man, he is coming on strong. runs nice routes and can just flat out torch DBs.

That is about all the positives I can come up with. The rest was pretty much horrible, but it was week one, lets see what week 2 looks like.

Another thing to think about with Manziels play - I'm not sure if anyone listened to the post game interviews, but Joe Thomas basically said that he can't remember the last time JM played with the #1's or event the scout team. Joe though JM played very well given the circumstances he was thrown into. I'd like to see Johnny have a week to prepare with the starters and see what happens. He, IMO, has improved enough at this point we need to see what we have and go from there....

Unfortunately, I just read that McCown's concussion is being called borderline.

I'm guessing it's McCown again next week. Ugh.

I just don't see the point.

I really think the only thing Johnny is needing now is just experience. The game didnt appear to big for him. Learn from the mistakes.

I do feel we gotta get Bibbs out there and give these QBs a weapon at TE.

Benji looks awesome.

Hartline can catch.

McCown can drive the team.

Manziel has improved.

Duke has some skill.

Gipson should continue to be an INT machine.

Lee is a really good punter.

Coons hit a 48 yard extra point.

The only positive I can think of is that maybe more people will stop wasting their money on this garbage product. I usually buy at least one cheap ticket every year, but I'm definitely not this year. I haven't bought any merchandise in years and so the sting from these type of Sundays is less and less. It's absolutely mind boggling that this organization raised ticket prices. You freaking kidding me? For this BS? No thank you CLOWNS!

This thread is called "Positives"

The point being, to look at the positive side of things. Why even make this post?

My positives:
1) Pass protection wasn't that bad
2) Benjamin played well
3) The first half looked okay. We easily could have had 21 points by the end of the first half.
4) Both QBs showed they could drive the ball
5) Johnny never checked out. When it looked like everyone else did, he looked like he cared
6) Great punting and great punt coverage

There is no such thing as a borderline concussion. You either have one or you don't.

Just passing on what I read. My take on it was that it implied that maybe he didn't actually have one or it was so minor that he'll be back next week.

He did? saywhat

He did a couple times, he drifted right into that sack that caused the fumble... I wouldn't say he did it a ton...

Positives... it's only week 1.

WR Travis Benjamin recorded three receptions for a career-high 89 yards. He hauled in a 54-yard touchdown, the second-longest catch of his career.

DB Tashaun Gipson recorded his 13th career interception. Since 2013, his 12 interceptions are tied for the most in the NFL (Seattle’s Richard Sherman also has 12). Gipson led the Browns in interceptions in 2013 (five) and 2014 (six).

QB Johnny Manziel, who came in following a first quarter injury to QB Josh McCown, completed 13 of 24 passes for 182 yards with one touchdown and one interception. In the second quarter, he threw his first career touchdown pass, a 54-yard third-down strike to WR Travis Benjamin.

LT Joe Thomas extended his consecutive-snaps streak to 7,980, the longest active stretch in the league. Thomas has started all 129 games and hasn’t missed an offensive play since being selected by the Browns with the third overall pick in the 2007 draft.

DB Donte Whitner led the Browns with 10 tackles.

K Travis Coons converted on a field goal of 26 yards, the first of his career.

On the opening drive, Cleveland drove 90 yards on 17 plays, taking 9:59 off the clock. In terms of plays, it was longer than any drive the Browns had in 2014.

That he was leaving it at all is a big problem when Hartline is his backup. One hit and we could be seeing how many interceptions a wide receiver can throw in a game. Record book here we come. Johnny should have been handing the ball off. A LOT. If he starts next week and he throws more than 20-25 times? We are in deep trouble.

If we are going to go with Johnny, Flip better break out the playbook and find the section on roll outs and waggles. I have no problem moving Johnny here or there. On purpose. But this improv crap where he takes off on a whim? That is going to get him killed. The following week we will have Thad Lewis under center. You want that? smile

Keeping Johnny alive and healthy has to be the first order of business. And running the ball 30+ times is a good start. Getting him to bail on a play and live for the next one is VITAL.

Positives: the power button on my TV is still functional; it turns off when asked.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I thought it was funny when the announcers pointed that out... considering he had just made a 45 yard extra point. LOL

If you have a dish there are the 30 minute compressed games and they play back the entire games throughout the week.

If you want to be a swarthy pirate the games are downloadable on bittorrent in pretty high quality. You usually need to wait until Monday nights though if I recall correctly.

I'm encouraged by Johnny. Last year in his two starts he looked like someone who would soon be out of the league. But for a guy who made some changes in his personal life, and started taking his job more serious, I think we have reason to be optimistic. He also saw no pre-season time with the first team, and very little last week as he was not even supposed to play.

He looked a lot better in the pocket. He made some nice throws. I actually thought the throw on his INT as a good throw. The receiver held Hartline, and Brian did not really do a good enough job either fighting it off or at least trying to sell the hold to the ref. I've seen Skrine called for that one quite a bit in the past. Johnny has a long way to go. I think he did enough to entertain the conversation of starting him Sunday. Either way, with how careless McCown is, we'll see Johnny soon again anyways.

I would actually like to see Duke Johnson a bit more. I don't think there are any backs on this team that will be one of those top 5 fantasy pick type backs, but I want to see more with Duke. I think Crowell might just be better as a RB2 that you bring in to change things up. He was nice last year in that role.

Penalties are always correctable things. The Browns could easily come out Sunday and not commit a bunch.

Like I said in the postgame thread, I'm not expecting this team to morph into the Seahawks this year. I just want to see some growth. I wanna see some direction so that when this year is over, we have a better offseason, and draft, and hopefully some continuity going into next season, that we can start talking about maybe doing something, instead of being told by everyone that it'll be another year or two years. I hate that. Every year it's always about the next year. I want to grow this season so that next year we can actually not give a crap about 2017.

Lake Erie Monster Imperial IPA kept a smile on my face. The Browns kept me laughing.

I will have to take another look at the film, but I came away encouraged by Benji, Lee, Coons, the offensive line in pass pro, and that's about it. Gipson looked to be out of position even (the TD to I think Decker).
