it'd be nice to get marshall going

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Jones is starting to look like he did last year. Still want him in the draft.

It's Western Michigan.

What a disaster it would be on here if we had both Johnny Manziel and Cardale Jones.

Do the math, how much more upside is there between the two of them? Western Michigan or not, these throws look like they're coming from cannons with ease and they're on the nose most of the time.

Not really Mr Ted. Guys running wide open deep and consistently UNDER throwing them. Definitely forcing the ball into windows that DON'T exist. Looks an awful lot like Jamarcus Russell to me. No thanks. I think Barrett will wind up being the better pro prospect. JMO

I see what you're saying about the forced throws, but he also did well when he took over last year against much better competition.
Isn't that something that can be overcome?
I also think the comparison to Russel is much too early. Russells problem I think was more mental toughness, discipline and work! ethic.

Grrrr, I don't think cardale played very well today. Could it be possible that JT should be our QB in the regular season, and Cardale is better equipped to go against "the big boys" of college football?

Aka the playoffs? I don't know, I just feel like JT would have put up more points in the past few weeks

It really is just like waiting to see when they will lose. They are NOT sharp at all right now. SMH

Tom Herman became the Head Coach for the Houston Cougars. They're 2-0 and beat Louisville a couple weeks ago. Btw, he's a MENSA member (announcers always brought it up)

I think you are thinking of Mike Vrabel that went the Texans as an assistant coach.

I don't think you can bury them for the game today, but there was nothing special about that win. They don't look like the #1 team to me, right now.

Losing Tom Herman was huge, but I think we should be patient with these coaches. You can't just step in and be great. I think that road goes both ways, and we might be singing a different tune if Cardale would stop underthrowing his WR's.

PJ Fleck is incredibly annoying by the way. He'll move on to a bigger job and this rah rah crap will go right out the window. Ask James Franklin how that's going. I was much more impressed with the job by NIU's coach last week, and he didn't need any dumb speeches or gimmicks, or jackets with catch phrases on it.

--Better, but this team still isn't hitting on all cylinders. That might not be a bad thing. I remember last year that we really didn't play well for a good part of the season. We got hot at the right time. I even remember D'Antonio, Mich. State's coach saying before the Alabama game that Ohio State was peaking at exactly the right time. So, what I am saying is....we are not playing well, but we have the talent and we might peak at the right time.

--Cardale was better, but he has some flaws in his game. He does NOT throw w/anticipation. That will be a killer on the next level. He is late on his throws. Many were underthrown. His footwork is also hindering him. His feet are often too close together and he rarely has proper balance.

--We gotta get the coach on the sidelines out of the play-calling mix. This isn't working.

--Why don't we run between the tackles more? We put ourselves in too many negative down and distance situations by running wide or throwing on early downs. Establish the inside running game and THEN the other plays will open up. Sheesh!

--I was concerned about the run defense today. Too many open holes and there were many times that they had one-on-one situations.

--We better be ready next week. Indiana can score and they have a good ground game.

Vers, I was coming on here to specifically state three of the same thing that you said.

-Cardale needs to give the receivers a chance on the ball.
-We need to run the ball between the tackles more to dictate the flow of the game.
-Although that kid from WM is a pretty good runner, we need to do a better job on defense.

WM left a lot of points on the field because of bonehead mistakes and a poor kicking game. This game could have been, and at times, felt a lot closer than the score indicated...

I was thinking the same thing, Sperg.... I thought his pregame speech was kind of lame. He didn't even inspire me to get up and grab a beer and a slice of pizza...

Interesting question, Buck!! I bet it is one that we all wish that we had that answer to. I don't agree with Vers on a lot of things, but I believe that he stated earlier in this thread (maybe after last game) that he believed JT should be the starter. I think he exhibits better leadership on the field and makes better decisions with the ball. Plus, he is a threat to break a long run as well. I'm not saying Jones can't but I think JT is a more dynamic player...

Better! Very better! Some of Cardale's throws I think he took some juice off and ended up being a bad decision. He would've accumulated some more TDs had he lead the WR a little more, decision making though MUCH better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The offensive game calling itself was just better. Lee and Perry are becoming/have been fun to watch! Love those linebackers!

You know - this is a good point and one we seemed to have gotten away from last year. The few times I remember this year that we did, Zeke got some killer yardage as he got behind the LB's pretty quickly. Sometime I think we are trying to be too complicated on Offense -especially always trying to come around the corners..

Ohio State remains at 1, but lost votes to 3 different teams.

Michigan State is 2nd, got 5 first place votes.

Ole Miss is 3rd, and received 10.

Utah jumped all the way up to 10th and recevied a first place vote.

Yup, since Urban isn't destroying teams this year I figure he ought to be fired. Let's face it, the Bucks haven't faced stiff competition and they've struggled. May as well get the new head coach process started right away, right?

When you're the coach of the defending national champions, I think he'll get a bit of a pass.

It's crazy that back in the spring, we had 3 quarterbacks, and now 1 of them plays receiver and the other 2 have not looked very good at all.

Urbs will figure it out.

Why would Urban need a pass?

I have been a bit disappointed in our play, but we are undefeated and ranked number one. We won the National Championship last year. Urban won two more at Florida. He won at Utah and BG. Our recruiting classes are the highest ranked in the country.

So...........not sure why you are saying Urban gets a pass???? A pass for what? Heck man, they should build that man a statue.

Can you imagine if the Browns had a coach who had those accomplishments????? Heck, the guys on this board act like Pet and Farmer are awesome and freak out if anyone questions them. Those two have done NOTHING! And their picks have sucked thus far.

Why bash Urban? I don't get it. He don't need no freaking pass. He rocks!!!!!

I'm not bashing him, but here was a ton of hype about this team and mainly this offense coming into the season and they have looked less than stellar.

The "pass" you keep referring to is that people aren't really freaking out because it's Urban Meyer and he'll have this team ready but right now they don't look like they're ready to win college football playoff game.

It's ok man, you can criticize Urban Meyer. He's not perfect. You can talk about him and how great he is, and still voice your concerns. Lightning will not strike you down, I promise.

I'm not quite sure how me being critical is not sticking with him?

There's no coach I'd rather have running Ohio State football, but he's not beyond criticism. Let's not act like Alabama fans.

I suppose we can all act as we want. Yes? No?

It just blows my mind when I read excuse after excuse for the dolts that run the Browns and then people rip on Urban and Ohio State. They did win the National Championship. What have the Browns won recently, other than high draft choices?

They're apples and oranges to me.

College football is so much different than the NFL. I hear idiot sports talk callers when comparing the Browns, say how everything down in Columbus it's how it's supposed to be run. That's beyond stupid.

Being critical of a coach is not ripping them. Is Urban beyond some of the bonehead mistakes he and his staff made at the end of the game last week? punting with 17 seconds left on the play clock in a 1 score game?

That's not ripping a guy. That's just pointing out facts. I'd rather being critical than blindly accepting of someone.

And you most certainly won't hear me making excuses for the people running the Browns, there is no getting around the porous recent draft history, and rush defense statistics of a team coached by a defensive guy.

There is nothing wrong with being critical of a coach, even a great one like Urban Meyer. It doesn't make you any less of a fan.

His team has played flat in 3 games, and they came into this season with a TON of hype. There was talk of all these players being Heisman potential.

Right now this team does not look like they can win a playoff game.

The pass comes in, because we all believe Meyer can have these kids playing better 2 months from now.

I'm not one of these psychotic Ohio State fans. If we end up losing the playoff, or not making the playoff, it's not going to kill me. I'm not going to call for Meyer's head or anything like that. It's hard to repeat.

People were ready to bury Meyer after VT last year. At that point he had lost 3 of 4 games.

So yes, Urban Meyer gets a pass for his team looking underwhelming. 4-0 doesn't tell the story. You came into this year with every vote from the AP with 2 great QB's and Ezekiel Elliot and possible #1 pick in Joey Bosa, and blah blah blah, and you played a one score game with freaking NIU.

He gets a pass.

If that's how you want to think, that's totally cool, I just believe that nobody is above criticism.

Yes, we are undefeated and ranked number one, but only because of the preseason rankings.

If rankings started after the season, I don't think Ohio State would be number one.

I have criticized Ohio State, but I just don't get this "pass" thing?

Why don't you criticize the Brown's FO and coaches when the majority of posters make excuse after excuse for their incompetence?

Sheesh............Ohio State is good and you would rather criticize them than the Browns?

Uh, dude, I have done plenty of that today and over the years.

Yeah, sorry man. I have absolutely no problem criticizing Ohio State, and handing out passes to proven coaches.

6:50 PM

The guy gives off the look of a hard nosed coach, and the media has portrayed him that way, but he certainly doesn't look like it. I mean, maybe when he's away from the cameras and with his team, he's a little more rough with his players, but I really don't see it. His training camps don't give you that impression either.

Ugly

-Run defense

-tackling

-Joe Haden. He was terrible today. I don't care how good Amari Cooper is. If you are a pro bowl DB, you should have the better of him. Unacceptable. Set the tone right on the first drive.

-Coaching

4:21 PM

The running game is a joke. The run defense is also a joke. Pettine needs to take a lot for that. Defensive guy and his team looks unprepared on defense. That better get cleaned up.
