I don't care about inner city problems in Chicago, but that's because I live in VA. When I lived in DC I cared about inner city problems in the areas I had to work, as it was smart for me to know what was going on and where. I care about inner city problems in Norfolk, VA now, as I live close to that city, and I sometimes have business downtown. Chicago doesn't affect me that much, but I do think they should find a way to stop that crap there.

Peen, I agree with you. Using the phrase "Uncle Tom" seems more insulting to the person using it than the person being referred to. Because it usually means the person being referred to is very successful.

I do not get the notion that there is only one acceptable way for a black person to be successful or only one set of world views that are acceptable for a successful black person to have.

I thought the whole concept of fighting for equality was to show that not all black people are the same, that they can be successful in a wide variety of ways, and that they can think for themselves... then one does and gets ridiculed for it.

I don't know that those are Carson's policies. I don't know what policies he has that aren't helping inner city youth.

But I do know following those simple rules would help a lot of the inner city youth.

I also have a hunch that all the policies currently in place to help inner city youth aren't working very well.
