The only way that helps is if they rank Stanford ahead of OSU, they liked OSUs SOS and Conf Title last year, and that would put Stanford over OSU this year..
If OSU is ahead of Stanford, then they are showing that the criteria isn't the same as last years..
And I don't think there ever will be, maybe ever should be, a set criteria.. every season is different.. every top 4 will be different for different reasons.. Exactly, how they rank OSU and Stanford will tell the difference between better record vs SOS, Conf champ. Because I can see that happening again. One major difference is that Stanford has two losses this year.

Stanford got beat by a middle of the road Big 10 team in Northwestern. Heck, they got beat-up by Northwestern. True. Ohio State is pretty clearly a better team than Stanford. The thing is, for as insanely talented as Ohio State is, their resume is not that good. They had the one really good win at Michigan, but Michigan wasn't all that good to begin with (3 losses, didn't really beat anybody). The Buckeyes lost literally the only game they could not afford to lose, and it was a bad year to not play Iowa, Northwestern, or Wisconsin. Well it would have been bad if Alabama or Clemson would have lost. It's a moot point now. We can go by the eye test and that we all know how good OSU is; I just think that is a slippery slope to go down. In the future, that very well may work against OSU if they win the Big Ten in a down year, and put a second SEC team in instead. Crazier things have happened.

If Stanford wins a conf, with 2 losses. What if they win it with 7 losses? does that make them better? NO.
Wins vs Losses is the first tie breaker.
I just tuned in to find out what the bowl mathcups are going to be. Any news on that yet.
Not the playoff bowls, Those look pretty clearly, MSU vs Bama and Clemson vs Oklahoma.
and Stop with all of these "precedents" They can't set precedents by putting somebody somewhere, because circumstances are going to change every year.
I want to see who Michigan plays, and who Notre Dame plays, and so on.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

1. Clemson vs 4. Oklahoma 2. Alabama vs 3. Michigan State
5. Stanford 6. Ohio State

The Notre Dame is either going to be an OSU blowout win or an ugly close loss.

Now we all have a better idea what the committee thinks.
Looking at these rankings we can start to see a major trend now how the committee judge teams.
1) Conference Champions seem to be top criteria. But, record does matter. Iowa stayed ahead of 2 loss Stanford.
2) If your conference has a Championship game you must play in that game to be considered. If Clemson and Alabama would have lost Iowa and Stanford would have gotten in.
3) The Big 12 Conference Champ again got punished again for not having a Championship game. Last year TCU and Baylor dropped after the Championship games and this year Oklahoma dropped. Easy to look at and say had Stanford only lost 1 game the Big 12 would have been left out again.
What we still do not know is how would the committee would have viewed a 1 loss Notre Dame???? No conference championship or championship game would they be viewed like the BIG 12 or treated differently?

Wait.. Battlefrog Fiesta Bowl?
What happened to Tostitos?
That just sounds silly..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

What we still do not know is how would the committee would have viewed a 1 loss Notre Dame???? No conference championship or championship game would they be viewed like the BIG 12 or treated differently? I have no problem with the committee's decision... I think they're the 4 right teams. I don't think anyone outside really has a true beef. Much different than last year when TCU and Baylor could make a case despite the committee getting it right. As far as ND goes, I don't think at one loss they would have gotten in. Their best win would have been a 3 loss Stanford. Everyone talks about Ohio State losing late, but I don't think the late loss hurts as much as the lack of a great win on the schedule. Their best win was 3 loss Michigan. Oklahoma has wins over 10, 16, 17 and 23. Thought they caught Texas on the wrong week as that team really really played for their coach that day. Oklahoma is the right pick. Alabama has a bunch of ranked wins, however , it's pretty clear they benefited from the SEC being overhyped. Teams that start out high actually have an easier time getting back in. It's all about perception before the games are really played. There is no doubt the list of top 25 teams would look different if you didn't even consider ranking them before anyone played. I really like Oklahoma, I just wonder with the extra week off if that's too much time off.. We'll see. I think any of these teams are capable. Much like last year. That's why I think it should really stay top 4. Yeah we'd like to see Ohio State in there, but they had one really big game this year, they got it at the Horseshoe, and they failed miserably. I have no problem sitting this one out. I would have gladly taken it had Alabama or Clemson slipped up, but I'm rooting for good games from here on out.

I don't see the criteria changing from year to year but I can see the committee changing the importance of each criteria from year to year. I think it's important that the teams be a conference champ but you don't necessarily want to take a 2 or 3 loss conference champ from a weak conference over a 1 loss team whose only loss was a close one in their championship game to a very good team. I think you need to give the committee some leeway in making the decisions on which 4 teams play cause if you have a set rigid way in picking the teams and you run into a scenario like above and a deserving team is left out and a not so deserving team gets in then your still gonna end up with confusion on who should be the College Champs in which case why even have a playoffs.

Just clicking.
I am at a loss for Iowa dropping to only 5. I guess losing to MSU by 3 dropping you only one spot is something new.

Thought that was kind of odd myself. I would have ranked them behind OSU especially since OSU only loss to MSU by 3 also and OSU is the defending National Champs. I would have went:
1. Clemson 2. Alabama 3. Oklahoma 4. Michigan St.
5. Ohio St. 6. Iowa 7. Stanford 8. Notre Dame

I think 4 team is right. I also think the 4 proper teams got in given the circumstances.
I also think the matchups for the top teams went as well as possible for the B1G. I like MSU's chances against Alabama better than Clemson. I would not like to have seen OSU try to defend against the run against Stanford. If only Iowa had a little better passing game I think they'd have a good shot at 3-0 in the top 10.

That's not nice. Unprovoked too. While I may not be able to get running water out of my faucet, it is supposed to be 80 degrees for the next three days.

You west coasters think power run is your ally? You merely adopted the game. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see a pass until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but high-risk!

Ruh-Roh http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...or-solicitationBy Chase Goodbread College Football 24/7 writer Published: Dec. 10, 2015 at 12:58 p.m. Ohio State has confirmed defensive tackle Adolphus Washington was cited for solicitation on Wednesday night. "Disciplinary action will be handled internally," OSU sports information director Jerry Emig told ABC6 News. Emig said Washington has a Dec. 17 court date after receiving the misdemeanor citation. The senior is regarded highly among an exiting group of Ohio State draft prospects that coach Urban Meyer described as an "exodus," including a group of underclassmen that have already begun making their intentions known. Washington has been highly active this season at the heart of the Buckeyes' defense, making four sacks and seven tackles for loss among 49 stops.

Lots of not happy Bucks fans from what I am seeing. Personally, I like the hire - did good at Rutgers, NFL head coaching experience, plus recruiting connections in FL and NJ from what I am hearing.

I find it odd that Navy and Pitt will be playing in Annapolis, Md (not that I'm complaining) I thought bowl games were played at neutral sites.

Back when the Rose Bowl was strictly the Big 10 vs. Pac 10 and USC was in it almost every year seemed like a home field advantage. Same with Miami in the Orange bowl.

When Schiano was in Tampa they allowed only 3.1 YPC or something like that. We'll be elite in run defense next year. He runs a similar pass defense scheme as Ash from what I've read. If our secondary stay intact for the most part we will have a VERY good defense next year. At Miami, he took a defense that was 57th and 66th in the nation the previous 2 years and turned them into the 12th and 7th ranked defense. At Rutgers, his defense was 113th in the nation when he arrived and when he left, they were 8th.

Washington was suspended by Coach Meyer for the Fiesta Bowl. Wow, this guy is a potential 1st round pick and he's messing around trying to pick up a hooker? Has he missed that fact that there's probably quite a few outstanding looking young women at OSU that he could boink for free? If I were Meyer I'd have said "Son, you're too dumb to play for me.". http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...ollowing-arrest

Meh. The pac 12 is a pretty volatile conference. Anyone can be good any given year. USC will right the ship soon. Re-inviting Reggie Bush was a major positive in many ways. Some of these kids got the tail end of Reggie Bush's golden years. If not, they knew the story once they took away his Heisman. According to the inside-guy propaganda machine, I followed after Sark's booster incident, the program is getting steady foundations. Helton was a solid hired. I'm intrigued.

From what I've heard the whole program is still a mess because Pat Haden is clueless, but still has free reign to do whatever he wants.

Is Texas A&M really going to fire Sumlin? He has a $20 million buyout if he's fired! I haven't heard anything about him being fired this year... but if he doesn't have a good year next year I think he's gone. Most are saying he needs to completely overhaul his offensive staff... sounds like the issues the QBs had were not with Sumlin but with the OC.
