I like it!

I'll like it even more if we find a way to shore up the CB spots a bit better.

Browns is the Browns

Goff has done very well against the blitz. He should have 2 TDs, but his WRs have screwed him.

Yeah Goff's wideout have not been good in the games I've watched. I don't understand how the one guy is considered a third rounder.

That touchdown pass by Goff (2nd TD) was a thing of absolute beauty!

Goff continues to impress!

Lynch plays tomorrow, Cook the day after that.

Only thing that scares me is that our GM is a moron. He'd pass on Bosa and Goff for somebody like Emmanuel Ogbah or some other idiotic reach.

I believe Cook was not even named a captain on the team. Interesting that a senior QB that is supposed to be a team leader was not voted a captain by his teammates. To me, this speaks volumes.

Pass on Cook.

Goff looks just as good as he has been all year. Lynch would have to play out of his mind to justify him being picked over Goff.

You KNOW there will be fans that want us to draft Lynch because he's big. It's the overused cliche of "you need a big strong QB for the AFC North." They'd be the same fans that would pass over Aaron Rodgers.

I know that Jared Goff had a killer day today against Air Force in the armed forces bowl, something like 400+ yards and 6 TD's? That's pretty impressive, regardless of the competition he's playing. I just got done reading an extensive scouting report on him. It pretty much said he's really good in the pocket and has great footwork and touch on his passes, and while he doesn't have the strongest arm out of all the QB's in the draft, he has the best touch. They suggest he stays with a warmer climate team, such as the 49ers, Rams or even Dallas to sit behind Romo for the next two or three seasons. The scouting report also mentioned that it's yet to be seen how he can perform in the harsh east coast weather, so teams such as Chicago and Cleveland might consider other QB options.

I guess as of right this minute here is my draft scenario...

Trade from #2 down to #6 with the 49ers, they want to move up and secure Jared Goff. In exchange we receive their 2nd round pick and another late round pick.

1st Round (From 49ers) - Paxton Lynch, QB/Memphis.
2nd Round - Derrick Henry RB/Alabama
2nd Round (From 49ers) - Michael Thomas WR/Ohio State
3rd Round - Shawn Oakman - DE/Baylor
4th Round - Deion Jones - ILB/LSU
5th Round - Tony Connor - Safety/Ole Miss

I haven't read enough to be able to mock the rest of our picks, and I'm also pretty sure we'll end up getting AT LEAST two or three compensatory picks from the NFL cause of all the free agents we lost last year, possibly even four.

I'm not sold on Manziel yet as a passer, and I think if we end up with a new president, GM and head coach, a new quarterback will at the very least be strongly considered. I could live with a scenario like this.

I would also try and trade Mingo and Gilbert, while releasing Dansby and Bowe. Use some of our cap space to go try and be somewhat aggressive in free agency.

This might be a tad overblown. People adapt, it's what we do best. Johnny doesn't suck in the cold because he's from Texas, which is much more south than where Goff is from.

Goff shows what makes him a top prospect. He is a natural thrower of the ball. Some guys just have that ability. Most guys work and learn how.

Agreed.

If weather was that big of an issue, a west coast or southern team would never win a Super Bowl. It's why I laugh when people argue about SEC teams playing in snow. I could understand the argument of them playing on the road and not their own backyard down south, but it's not because of weather.

It is, of course, WAY too early to make even an educated guess. First, there is a possibility Tennessee beats Indianapolis this weekend. But, assuming the order is Tenn-Cleve, we have the combine, the Senior bowl, all the talking heads doing their best to influence the draft, etc. If Cleve is 2nd, and someone believes we are going to draft their guy, Tenn could very well trade down. The only thing I can say for sure, is that if Tenn drafts first, they are very unlikely to draft a QB.

Not being a GM I am not bound by such constraints. Goff has been growing on me over his last several games. Yesterday he really impressed me. Lynch impressed me early, but as the season wore on, I think his inexperience showed. The result of these 2 bowl games, for me, is that I now favor Goff over Lynch for the first time.

Can't say I disagree. It has been my position all along that Lynch has very limited experience. It is all about upside potential with Lynch.

Goff has faced much better competition and the offense he is in throws downfield much more.

In fact I see little if any separation between Lynch and Wentz.

After next weekend the draft season begins. For many years now the draft has been way more exciting than the play on the field. How sad is that?

f Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch played his final college game on Wednesday, it certainly didn't play out the way he had envisioned it.
» Brooks: Paxton Lynch doesn't have look of NFL-ready QB

Memphis fell to Auburn, 31-10, in the Birmingham Bowl and Lynch struggled to get anything going, completing 17 of 37 passes for 108 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.

Watch: Great college football plays

Lynch, a junior, has not yet revealed whether he will apply for early entry into the 2016 NFL Draft. New Memphis coach Mike Norvell told ESPN on Wednesday that he intends to meet with Lynch and the quarterback's family to discuss the impending decision. Underclassmen have until a Jan. 18 deadline to apply for early draft entry.

Former Oakland Raiders scout Bruce Kebric recently said Lynch is his top-rated QB prospect in college football, ahead of Cal's Jared Goff, whom Kebric views as a top-five pick. Goff was dominant on Tuesday, throwing 6 touchdown passes in a win over Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. He, too, has yet to announce his intentions for 2016.
» Tracking underclassmen intentions for 2016 draft

Lynch threw for a school-record 3,778 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, including the 384 yards and 3 TDs he threw for in a 37-24 win over Ole Miss on Oct. 17. Scouts will likely take a closer look at the Ole Miss and Auburn games, in which Lynch faced highly respected Power Five competition, than the others when they review his tape from the 2015 season, and they'll find a mixed bag

after this game... I doubt he will declare for the NFL Draft.

I think with Dallas and San Fran drafting fourth and fifth and desperate for a QB, I think they are both going to try to trade up to number one for Goff. Especially given the uncertainty of our situation. I think Tennessee would be happy to draft Bosa or either one of the OTs. Just my opinion though.

What do you see in Goff that makes him worthy of such a high pick?

I value your opinion, so I am not being sarcastic like I normally am. LOL

The guy throws into traffic. His decision making is poor. His recognition is lacking. Anticipation????

What will happen when those flaws are exposed in the NFL? It's a different league, steve.

I've said this all before, but I will again. I had not seen either Lynch nor Goff before this CFB season. I was watching the Cincinnati-Memphis game to see if/how Kiel had improved from last year. He was injured early in the game, but I was impressed by both Memphis' Lynch and the freshman who replaced Kiel, Hayden Moore. I continued watch Memphis games and continued to be impressed by Lynch.

Others were talking about Goff, so I watched the Utah-Cal game, which was probably Goff's worst game this season (5 INT.) I came away unimpressed. Discussions with Bone, Candyman, and 15 led me to revisit Goff in is final 3 regular season games and each game impressed me. Meanwhile, the spotlight on Lynch was beginning to show some flaws. Don't get me wrong, I still like him, but I think he's less NFL ready than my initial impression.

Goff's game in the Armed Forces Bowl was truly impressive. Lynch's performance in the Birmingham Bowl wasn't. If the Browns draft a QB, my choice at this point is Goff.

Star Frog QB arrested after scuffle with police … Texas Christian junior QB Trevone Boykin was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication early this morning in San Antonio after reportedly hitting a police officer following a fight in a bar. Boykin, a leading candidate for the 2016 Heisman Trophy, is in San Antonio with his teammates for the Alamo Bowl on Saturday against Oregon.

I agree with some of that... I have seen some accuracy issues, especially on several Hoyer-like underthrows of deep balls. I do think he's the clear top QB in the class, though. Honestly I kind of see him as a bigger if less-gifted Johnny Manziel, in that he does a good job of keeping the play alive and keeping his eyes downfield.

I'm not saying he's the best player. I just think he's clearly the best option at QB (though who knows... a few might think Dak is the best) and the enormous holes some of these team have at QB I think will cause them to push to get him.

The Cowboys have to fix their QB situation. That team is too talented to be picking 4th. The 49ers (picking 5th) also need a QB. I feel like the Cowboys can't risk the Browns taking Goff or the 49ers trading in front of them. Probably too far for St. Louis, Philly, or Houston to trade up.

That's JMO.

I hear you. We have seen a lot of QBs over the years get drafted way higher than they should have been. Guys like Gabbert, Ponder, Russell, etc

I guess my point is that we don't fall into the same trap. I think we have a ton of needs and not one true impact player. We desperately need impact players. It's hard to find impact players later on in the draft. You can find good, solid players later, but most impact players are taken w/high picks.

I am NOT saying that Goff, Cook, or Lynch can't be very good quarterbacks. One of them might end up being a very good NFL qb. I am saying that I think the odds are not very good of that happening. I see all three of them as risky picks and I would simply rather pass on any of them and draft a true impact player w/our first round pick.

Man, we've drafted Taylor, TRich, Weeden, Mingo, Gilbert, Manziel, Shelton, and Erving. We desperately need to hit big on this year's pick. We can't afford another bust or even a project type of player. We need a true impact player that teams need to game plan against each and every week.
