Especially liked this:
"Goff is a smart, analytical film nerd and it shows on the field. A three-year starter, he's developed well in the Bear Raid offense (a progression-based offense featuring plenty of run/pass options and largely based on downfield throws). Goff loves the game and spends his time off the field immersed in football."

This is gonna sting some of you, but Bosa doesn't want to even be in Cleveland:

No, you're not blind. It was someone claiming to be his friend who posted it.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

This isn't the No D 12 or Air Force.

Didn't see much of Goff. People talk about his success on the deep ball. Is that more a result of the defenses he has faced? Meaning it won't translate to the next level. I have concerns with what I have heard about this guy. Afraid of setting us back even further.

If we're becoming more into analytics, then we're definitely going to choose Bosa or Goff. Does Goff have a hot girlfriend?

Didn't see a ton of his games but the one I saw where he was under pressure and had to make reads because of good coverage he was not impressive. I am not a scout and do not watch a lot of games that don't involve teams I have no interest in. I do watch a lot of bowl games so that limits my exposure to a lot of players. I am not saying Goff's success is a product of the defenses he played against, I am asking if it was because I have not seen him play.

Mariota doesn't have a weak arm. Furthermore, I wouldn't say he is a sure thing at this point. He had some good moments, but overall, his season was a downer.
Btw.............where is his team picking in the draft this year?

Mariota's season ended on a down note, because he got injured, but he had a pretty good rookie year, I'd say. In 12 games, he had 2800 yards passing, over 62% comp, 19 TD passes, 10 Int, and a QB rating of 91.5. He rushed for over 250 yds, including an 87 yarder, had 2 TDs rushing, and even caught a 41 yd TD pass. All in all, pretty darned impressive, considering his lack of receivers and a running game. He would have been worth the trade up, imo, if we could have pulled it off. Especially after considering what we got from Shelton and Erving.

WOW
Jaylon Smith has a torn ACL and MCL with potential nerve damage to his knee, which could cost his career. People are saying its worse than initially feared.

Jaylon could either go pro and suffer a pretty serious draft shock or could stay in college for another 2 years. He'll be 22 then and could possibly be a first round pick again. But if he leaves he could be in free fall. I'm not sure if I'm OK with picking him with our first second round pick, but if we could get him in the bottom half of the second I'd trade up... If he goes to the NFL draft. Which he probably should.

I am a big Goff fan. He throws with as much accuracy and anticipation as I've ever seen at the college level. His biggest question is going to be his weight and arm strength. I see a better version of Bridgewater in him, if he can gain some weight he can be a high end NFL QB.

Long-term prospects between Mariotta and Bridgewater ... I'd take Mariotta. He seems much more of a dynamic player to me. A guy that could put his team on his shoulders if needed and deliver a victory.
Bridgewater seems much more of a steady eddy but missing that dynamic feature that I prefer.
I think he's had a couple of good games lately. It's kind of interesting that before this string started there was a PFF report that people were questioning his long-term prospects and if he was dynamic enough.
Would I prefer him over Manziel? At this stage, of course. Do I think he would have brought 10 or 11 wins to this team this year? No. As a matter of fact if he played in Cleveland like he played in Minny this year, there would be a large contingent of fans and media trying to run him out of town.

Bro..............you would take Brandon Weeden over Teddy.
I get that. You have trashed the guy for two straight years. Seriously.......I get that you think he stinks.
Can you accept that I don't agree w/your analysis?

I love how Haslam said the draft would be based on collaboration and a consensus opinion ... and then he basically alludes to the fact we can draft a QB at #2
So it looks like Goff is the selection
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I'm not entirely sold on drafting a DE that high in the draft. Look at Clowney from two years ago draft when he was suppose to be the most dominant thing ever. Well two seasons have passed and he has a total of 4.5 sacks. That is with having a guy like JJ Watt getting doubled on almost every play. I am just not a fan of drafting a D lineman that hight I don't find then has a game changer which your first round pick should be let alone the number 2 pick in the draft. I also am not saying that means I am sold on Goff or Lynch either. We unfortunately need so many positions its hard to say where we start and I think it will come down to who our staff wants to start the rebuild with.

Clowney is an example of the common mistake that NFL talent evaluators make.
Clowney is big, fast and has the highlight reel play vs the Michigan Rb. Unfortunately he just wasn't that productive. They fail to ask the question "Why isn't a guy bigger and faster than everyone else more productive?". The answer for Clowney is that he doesn't really care about football. He just wants the money that comes with being a professional football player. Those guys rarely thrive once they enter the NFL.
There's something to be said for the desire to be great vs wanting to "get what's mine" attitude.

agreed. That's why I like walk-on guys who end up dominating their competition. Josh Doctson and Carl Nassib are two guys that fit that bill this year. I'd be happy if one of those two guys were our pick at 32.

If we decide no pass on Qb with our 1st round pick, the guy I find interesting later in the draft is Jeff Driskel La Tech.

What does everyone think about trading down to the 7,8,9 slot to pick up Paxton Lynch? It seems to me that is our best option.
We may be able to get a late first rounder in return or at least a 2nd and third.
