I don't know too much about head coaches, who's good, who isn't, so it's great to hear that most here are excited by our new one... (For once!)

P.S.

Now we don't have to hear SuperBrown say, "What's a Hue Jackson?"

Names to look out for: Pep Hamilton, Mike Solari, and Bob Wylie.

https://twitter.com/jasoncolebr/status/685911022255894528

Hamilton was Andrew Luck's college QB coach.

Solari was the 49ers offensive line coach under Harbaugh.

Wylie is currently coaching in Canada.

Still trying to figure out what exactly Pettine wanted out of him..

I believe he can play. I don't believe he is a grade A pass rusher. He could be a nightmare if you have another guy on your defense that teams have to worry about.

I hope we hang on to him.

A certain kid from Ohio State maybe?

Thats what I'm thinking!

I heard that on the radio today, too. Apparently, Jackson was enamored with Kaepernick when he was coming out of Nevada. This worries me because I'm sure the 49ers would be willing to trade him at this point. Unrelated, I wonder where RGIII will end up now that he is out of Washington.

If I remember reading the article correctly it said they almost traded back into the first round to get him. Maybe if they are that stuck on getting him they can trade Johnny for him straight up.

I wonder if Sf would do a Kaepernick for Manziel trade - straight up.

Manziel is done here and Kaep is done there. Perhaps both would benefit rom a new start?

I think RG3 winds up in Dallas.

Billy Football will wind up on a reality TV show with Paris Hilton.

Kaepernick has a huge contract. I would only want him if he restructured his contract to a much lower number. Even then I would still draft a QB high.

I would guess that Chip Kelly wants a shot with Kaepernick if he gets the 49ers job.

Kaepernick is not a good QB.

He is a baseball player pretending to be a running back trying to be Quarterback..

And yet still got to the playoffs, and a super bowl.

But he is at least better than the baseball player pretendig to be a running back trying to be a Quarterback that we have.

I'm not saying that I want him but he some success early on.

Inspired hire. Hiring another Coordinator was definitely the way to go. A much better choice than hiring an experienced head coach. Certainly better than picking a guy that's already won a Super Bowl. How could we continue to play like Browns hiring a proven winner?

Welcome to Cleveland Mr. Jackson. The place where Coordinators get their shot at coaching and ultimately kill their careers....

It would seem the Browns will never hire an experienced winning head coach. We will always hire Coordinators with little or no experience. So be it.

Our team now consists of Sashi Brown, a lawyer with no scouting experience building the roster. A sabermetrics math geek from the baseball world doing who knows what? And a head coach that's had one solitary year in the big chair. Perfection personified.

Well, Joe doesn't have a choice. WE do. but he doesn't.

I've been on my phone app for the last hour, gees twitter is on fire over this move..You'd have thought we won the superbowl or something LOL

I really hope he's as good a coach as people say.

If he's that good, maybe Mack and Schwartz will want to stay put. fingerscrossed

Now, on to the coaching staff.

You're wrong. He has a choice. He could retire..... If I were him I would think seriously about it. Playing for a continually losing franchise can't be much fun. The only other stud lineman on the team is leaving..... He's got enough money to last 50 lifetimes. Why NOT retire if the Browns won't let him go?

I'm going to get excited AFTER the next season, IF we do well. Well doesn't necessarily mean 10-6 or better. In fact, I don't have a total win number.....but we'd better do better.

Talk to me about "coach" 11 1/2 months from now.

arch...it's hard to be excited when I know that Jackson could be toast in a year or two.

..and it doesn't matter what Haslam says to media and fans, we already know his words are meaningless. Hopefully Jackson realizes what he got himself into, with Haslam as his boss.

Here's hoping he cleans house and changes everything. I want a REAL 4-3 defense. I want us to ATTACK on D. Pressure pressure pressure! I want an offense that RUNS the football. Let our new coach run HIS schemes and bring in HIS people. It's HIS ass on the line after all....

I HOPE that our new HC brings in highly competent EXPERIENCED coordinators. We will see.

That's about the size of it. When I see marked improvement on BOTH sides of the ball, THEN I might start believing in this hire. Until then he's just another inexperienced coordinator. He was a HC for ONE year and went 8-8. Why should I get excited about that when there were a number of more experienced candidates. Many with rings....

We don't even know who he's going to hire as OC and DC. Will he even hire an OC? Will he call the plays or will the new OC(if one is hired). What kind of defense will we run? Does he hire a quality DC? Or are we stuck with another Oneil?

If our new head coach is worth his salt he will attract quality assistants. If he can't build a quality staff then he's the wrong hire.

Any player or coach can threaten to retire. Joe isn't a guy like that.

he may be sick of the merry go round of coaching changes and he may threated to retire to get them to trade him, But I doubt it.

But technically, you are correct, he could retire.

Don't know how true this is, but on NFL Network it was said one of the conditions Hue had in signing here was a dump Johnny clause.... Hope that's true not just a rumor. smile

Looking at the candidates that were being discussed for all the openings Jackson to me was the best available.

He had experience as a HC which should help. He doesn't have to go through the learning curve from coordinator to HC which is not an easy transition.

I like that he is an offensive guy. Not that a defensive guy is not worthy I just like that he comes from the offensive side of the ball.

As the Bengals OC it helps that he comes with knowledge of the division. In addition I really liked what the Bengals were doing offensively under Jackson.

He has a good reputation from the players who have played for him. He seems to communicate well.

I find it interesting that the 49ers and Giants were after him and he selected the Browns. Since everybody in the media portrayed the Browns job as the worst position available and that the environment was toxic etc. The the new orc chart was off the wall and will never work etc. etc.

So now we have a HC. Now we need a GM who will work with Jackson and be a guy who can really draft talent. After that get a good DC who believes in rushing the passer and forcing the action on defense.

I like this move.

When has being a HC for ONE season become "experienced"? He was a HC for one single season. To me that is inexperienced.

We already have our GM. We may hire a guy we CALL the GM, but Sashi Brown is in charge of the roster and that makes him the REAL Manager of this team.

Kaepernick has a huge contract. I would only want him if he restructured his contract to a much lower number. Even then I would still draft a QB high.

I would guess that Chip Kelly wants a shot with Kaepernick if he gets the 49ers job.

Kaepernick, who was benched by the 49ers this season, has had three surgeries in the past two months, and most think he's finished in San Francisco.

I hadn't heard this. Anybody know what surgeries he's had?

After seeing some of his decision making, I'd suspect corrective surgery for Cranial Rectalysis.

Agreed! I am equally anxious to see who it isn't. Take out the trash. Wonder who he brings. Like the hire.
