I think the shock of getting beaten so badly by the Warriors may have had something to do with this?

If so, I really don't know if getting rid of Blatt will make that much of a difference. The Cavs rock, but the Warriors are the better team.

Yeah, I don't know either. I really, really doubt it was Blatt's idea to let Lebron and Kyrie pound nails on offensive sets. So now do they get to do it with Lue's blessing? Is that going to make them better?

Now it all makes sense.

LeBron went back to Cleveland to do whatever he wanted. Lue is just part of that and Blatt got caught in the crossfire.

Sounds about right.

Makes me wonder if the GS game was intentional by the players.
I give this team little to no chance at all going forward.

It's up to Tyronn Lue to get the most out of Kevin Love now. That, among other things, was an issue for David Blatt.

The Cavaliers have an extremely talented team, and I do think that Lebron tried to support Blatt. (publicly, anyway)

I do think that a team can be very talented, and underachieve. I definitely think that happened here. Also, if there is a major disconnect between players and coach, someone in the building, like the GM who hired that head coach, would be in position to see it. I don't think that Griffin, who took a lot of ... questioning .... when he hired Blatt to start with, would fire him unless he felt that it was absolutely necessary.

Believe me, I was as shocked as could be when I heard this, but after reading some of the comments by writers, I can see how some of the issues they raise could be legitimate.

This was a multi-wk evaluation from GM David Griffin that the Cavs were regressing in key areas & players were detaching from each other.

I think this move had to be made. None of the players seemed to relate to Blatt. When I saw them live, Lebron never even talked to him. What I thought was strange was that during timeouts, Blatt would stand on the court while Lue or another assistant had the players around them. When you look at teams like GS or SA, Kerr, Walton and Pop are communicating with all of their players and have their attention during critical timeouts. There was no similar connect between our players and Blatt. Even Spoelstra had Lebron's attention some of the time.

Awesome and hilarious!

As for the firing, meh. You're up Lue.

I do worry about Kevin and his future role on the team if there is beef between him and the team or maybe the team had beef with Blatt and how Kevin was being used. I would be a little shocked the beef was with Kevin. He wouldn't have signed an extension in the offseason then.

I wonder if last night's win against the Clippers was the team playing "Lue ball" after they played the Warriors under "Blatt ball". That was the proof Griffin needed that a change was needed.

Cleveland may never win a title in my lifetime, but they're rarely boring. If you think about it, that's what sports are supposed to be, entertainment. We get a lot of that.

The Heat had the infrastructure to keep LeBron in check. They had him playing power forward with no iso ball.

It's one of the reasons why he left. He wanted to do his own thing. Blatt got in the way of that.

Watching Lue go up against Kerr or Pop in the finals is going to be ugly.

Man..... I really don't know what to say about this. I thought blatt was a good coach. I know he struggled with rotations and such, but man.....

Yeah, at first I gave him a break because he was breaking Irving in and had a bunch of new faces - but throughout the season it still seemed he was still trying to figure out minutes and etc.

The Cavs have too many guys. They have four bigs that should play (Love, Thompson, Mozgov, and Varejao), a mishmash of wings (James, Jefferson, Smith, and Shumpert), and three point guards (Irving, Williams, and Dellavedova).

They should be trying to make a three for one trade or moving guys into cap space (hello Portland).

and according to Woj, he's basically saying what we all knew, that lebron orchestrated this:

Since last season, LeBron James and his agent Rich Paul have been strong advocates of Lue becoming head coach, league sources tell Yahoo.

Seems like this was a bad fit, from the minute Lebron decided to come back.

Blatt was brought in to teach a young team, and then was handed a team with a lot of strong personalities. Thinking back, the idea that Blatt would have trouble with this veteran team was the story from the word go, and it seems to have played out that way.

yep, thats why I said earlier this year that blatt was in over his head. He was supposed to grow with a young team, you put all these superstars and egos on the same team, combined with the immediate expectations, he didn't have a prayer. Now lebron has the guy he wants, we don't win it this year, ship lebron and his diminishing skills and ego on the next thing smoking. The only saving grace with this is Lue was primed to be a HC in the league, he was the hot prospect at the time. So lets see what happens.

Thats just crazy, Kevin Love has proven to be a guy who can carry the offense when given the chance, Hes more apt to be able to do it more consistently than lebron at this point but lebron refuses to defer. Last two games they made the effort to run the offense through love and he put up monster numbers.. The problem has never nor will ever be Kevin Love. Playing with ball hogs who love iso and a coach that had no clue how to use him is the problem, not kevin love...he'll his last year in MN averaged 26points and 13 boards for the season, neither kyrie or lebron can do that right now so why make a guy that has an inside/outside game like that the 3rd option, or actually seems like the 4th option. I don't think Love and JR should be on the floor at the same time. Love should split time with some of the second unit when Kyrie and lebron go to the bench and he can get aggressive and carry the load.

I think that the reports are that Blatt and Love were oil and water, and one had to go. Listening to the presser, I believe this even more.

Full blow torch. Kind of refreshing to hear.

This isn't all on Blatt, but the coach is usually the expendable weight when you have the payroll the Cavs have, and you don't feel that great about your team. 30-11 is really good, but obviously they don't like the way this thing is going.

This move won't morph Kyrie Irving into Gary Payton, or get Lebron to stop killing the offense, but maybe it'll be a wakeup call.
